The first tarantula is always special, my first was a B.Smithi, unfortunately it was a male and matured very quickly, but he was the start of my collection and I’ll always remember him, RIP Trevor the Tarantula ❤️🕷

He's so, so beautiful! You're a great honest teacher, hehehe, love to touch one. A friend's friend bought one over 10 years ago and said you can hold it if you want, no danger of being bitten because where he bought it (pet store) told him his fangs were taken out so he can't kill you...…What??? well bull...., he still had his fangs and I didn't believe them that it won't bite and harm you. Here he is showing us, tarantula on his hand, arm, hand and swinging it around, pocking him to prove it's ok.....meanwhile as he was doing that the taran… was showing his fangs with the attack posture, omg! I know about these but a lot more since I've been watching you. I know pet stores lie just like any other stores to make sales but this guy was nutty to believe them, we told him quick put him back!
Petko do you keep any medicine or whatever in your home in case you get bitten?

I’m genuinely thankful for channels like yours that have educated people on how to properly keep tarantulas. I watched you for about a year before I got my first tarantula (G. Pulchripes) in February. It ate twice before molting, and it has eaten for me three more times since. It has around a 2 1/4 inch leg span so it’s not tiny. It gladly takes crickets over half its size. I’ve had no problems with keeping my tarantula and I have you educators on UA-cam to thank for it. I’m hoping to get two or three more tarantulas this summer so we’ll see how it goes in the future 👍

    • @rrpp9513

@@apopsis520 I know, I'm too late and no one really interested in answer, but Sasha is a short name for Alexander, just like Richie is a short form for Richard. We using diminutive suffix "-sha" or "-nya" in the end of the word to make a short version of a name. And we dont have letter "-x" in our alphabet. So its go from Aleksander to Aleksasha (or Aleksanya), but it is way too long for a short name and sounds ugly, no one use that, so the best, that you can do, is to cut the first half of the name. That probably how we got Sasha (and Sanya) for the first time. Right now its just a common forms of the name "Alexander". PS. My English is very bad, I know.

4:45 That's the reason I named my first budgerigar Паша (Pasha), and my recent addition Али (Ali).
Both names are "unisex" (much more common in men, but occasionally women) in Russia, and when you're training a budgie, it's name has to be repeated hundreds of times for it to associate it to itself. Pasha turned out to be a boy, and Ali is looking to be the same.
In case anyone is randomly wondering how you can tell, a male's ceres (nostrils) will turn a deep purple/blue, and a female's will turn a pale sandy pink-ish. Between 0-3 months you can't tell the gender, between 3-6 months is when the color starts developing, and by 6-8 months old you can usually tell pretty clearly. Males are also often *much* more talkative and chatty than females so you can somewhat anticipate the gender before nostril colours by how much it chirps and chatters. Not _always_ but often.

My first tarantula was a big 7 year old Lasiodora Klugi, then I got a few môre big tarantula's. But I wanted the experience of raising a sling to an adult. So I got a grammostola porteri. First feeding it ran away from the roach! So I still have to catch the roach and crush the head to feed her. She/he already molted once but I can't find the molt, but it's definitely bigger and looks to be in pre~molt again! So exciting to see it grow. Calling mine Lucas for now, after the animated jumping spider just cause its so cute!
