This is the best video I've seen explaining how they work. It's not over the top and 30 minutes long, its to the point and very easy to understand if your mechanically inclined. Want one of these so bad.
Thanks! glad you found it useful.
I have a Lectron on my 2017 Husqvarna TE 300. With only idle adjustments the bike runs crisp everywhere and the fuel mileage is significantly better.
Looks like one of those would be nice for the homebuilt aviation market.
Thanks for finally giving a proper explanation of how the meeting rod works! I've seen so many videos that just say, it has a metering rod or this is the part that makes it what it is but never explain how it works. So yeah, thanks for finally making it clear in an understandable way.
You bet. Glad we could clarify that for you. Thanks!
I have one on a 2017 Yz250x. Took a trip to Utah and rode a bunch of trails ranging in elevation... and loved the carb. Bike ran great.
That's awesome. Where in Utah did you go riding?-Chase
Rocky Mountain ATV MC we went to Provo, which was the first single track I had ever ridden being a bunch of farm kids from Iowa and that was expert level... we didn’t end up doing it all but awesome experience. Then rode a day in American Fork Canyon and did one stretch of pretty intense single track. Awesome time
Everyone who rides get THIS CARBURETOR by far you will not be upset go get it guys braaap....
Built a custom YFZ YZ300, best this carburetor was the best mod !!!
Just bought one for my 300 EXC 2017 and its awesome! Best engine mod you can get...also there are no overflow lines which piss half your tank to the ground...
Mikhail, so this carb leaks fuel a lot
Dylan Stein no it does not leak fuel a lot. They have air vent lines. I was told it doesn’t have all the hoses like a regular carb. It has hoses, but less of them.
I recently put a Lectron kit on my 2017 Husqvarna TX 300. Everything about it is superb. I had to make one 1/2 turn leaner adjustment and it was perfect. I have put about 10 hrs on it now and the Lectron delivers as advertised. I had a JD Jet kit on the stock carb and it ran really well but the Lectron is significantly smoother and has a more linear feel to it. I am so happy I don't ever have to change jetting again. Just pack it up and go ride anywhere. It is expensive but the performance and reduced hassle make it more than worth the price. I use the 91-95 octane pump gas (based on availability) and Amsoil Saber @ 80:1.
That's awesome to hear Jeff! Glad it is working out so well for you. Thanks for the comment. Have you left a product review for the site too?! That will really help out other buyer's interested in the Lectron.Cheers~Chase
80:1 😶
KingJamesVL
Yes the Saber is recommended to be used at 100:1. Same lubrication as other oils but it is higher quality and more concentrated so you use less. 50 hrs on top end. Just tore it down and zero wear. Its an excellent product.
Same experience on my '18 300 XC. I live in Colorado and ride in Utah. The bike runs perfect at 4K in Utah and over 12K here in Colorado. Love it!
As this is my mid life crisis dirt bike, I added an S3 head with the "AA" insert and Moto Tassinari V4 reeds while I was in there, the bike runs awesome. Rode a friend's stock '19 TX 300 back to back with it, and my XC blew it away off the bottom. A little higher compression head does wonders for the bottom end power. It is almost a little too aggressive now if it is super dry and slick, this coming from a guy who previously rode a '13 TE 300 with a Gnarly pipe and a red powervalve spring. Two turns in for dry slick conditions helps a lot. The red spring is definitely staying in the box with the new bike, it barks hard - haha...
The lean mix ratios for 2-strokes started with the epa putting pressure on outboard boat engine manufactures, because the 2-stroke exhaust was piped into the water, and left a oily sheen on the surface of the water. Oil companies were forced to advertise as thin as 100:1 for your 6000 rpm outboard motor,---but you will never find a manufacture of a race engine to recommend oil that thin. Your parts are wearing out faster, and you have no reason to believe the epa cares.
Go back to 32/40:1. I am just looking into this carb, and you may not even have to re-jet it? You may even feel a bit more power as the rig should seal better to the cylinder wall with a 32:1 mix with good oil. I know a company that has done a lot of real life dyno testing for the best oil protection. Today, they like the Klotz supertechniplate (has 20% castor oil mixed in synthetic), and the very expensive Motul Kart GP 2-t oil, (runs cleaner for power valves --for me).
If you use an hour meter, measure your ring end gap after the same hours of both mixes, and I think you will agree.
only carb I buy for my 2 stroke dirt bikes.
Really want to get one of these. Fiddling with carb adjustments gets old fast
the 150, i bet ur power valve is sticking i have one and that was the problem, powervalve affects jetting forsure and reeds were shit too.
I'm building a cafe scrambler out of my 81 GS650GL Suzuki, which is a cylinder, and I would love to use these carbs on my bike as I go from 10 to 5,000 ft in elevation all the time when I ride. Is there a way to put 4 of these on a rail, or do I need to make an intake manifold and run a single large lectron? When I get up in the cascade mountains I notice a power loss and I'd like to see if this carb will fix this issue. Plus I'd like to take all the pain out of carb maintenance.
that is awesome
I ran 38mm lectrons on my TZ350 back in the day, good performance from them but however they are a disposable carb, on a normal carb the needle goes in and out of the emulsion tube which is brass, with the lectron the needle or metering rod goes directly into the aluminium body of the carb and after two road race seasons the needle wears the hole into an oval shape making jetting very difficult. I went back to the Mikuni power jet.....
dang, I've never heard of that happening before but thank you for the feedback.
Is there anyone available for drz 400?
How about for my Polaris Sportsman 500 HO? I live at about 250 feet above sea level, but I ride in the mountains, sometimes as high as 10,000 feet while hunting in Idaho. Seems like a Lectron would be a hot ticket for that thing.
I hope Lectron carb will make one for KLX 150BF soon 🤘🔥🔥🔥😍
I heard that Kenny Roberts was involved in the Development of the Lecgtron.. They make hundreds of different metering needles for various different bikes Two Strokes fuel needs change so much when they come on the pipe ..
they were all gimicky back then too. along with the lake injector and the edelbrock carb.
Your web site doesn't ever list my bike how come you don't have anything for the ds650 guys?
Good
i got an 06 kx85 stroked to a 90 with the stock kehein carb and its grate but its hularious were i live weather changes quick. i was getting my helmet on to ride and there was no wind and sunny than a strong gust of cold dry air come and hit me and became cloudy bike stumbled and shut off. or when ur riding it runs like shit bc when you adjusted it it was cold now its warm a hour later i like the lectron carbs but i aint got 300 bucks LOL
It is same if i use VP fuel...M5(methanol)
I never had any luck with Mikuni carbs at all.
I need this for my four stroke crf250R 07
Hi so for normal trail riding wou;d I want the high velocity or standard version? Also I do not see an option for the yz 250x on rm atv
high velocity gives bottom to mid range punch, normal velocity gives top end punch.....you need to order the carby online from Lectron.
Man I need one of these so bad and I know there an amazing product but they are a pretty penny
*Simon Huff* They really are a nice investment. Thanks for watching.
Simon H they are a bit pricey but more than likely it's marked up a bit because they gotta make money too, due to my own budget id explore the option of ordering direct from lectron if they don't require distributor sized orders or purchasing one second hand and overhauling it with new hardware.
have you considered having somebody who knows what they're doing jet the stock carb?
Lectron sells them for $800 and you're selling them for a few hundred less. How is that?
Always more expensive direct. I got no clue why.
Can I get one for my crf125
Is the electron similar to pulse injection?
Do you have one that fits a 05 yfz450? I'm having so many issues with the stick fcr carb and thus would be a life saver
We do not carry one for that quad but Lectron does make a kit for your YFZ. You can check it out on their site here: www.lectronfuelsystems.com/yfz-450-atv-kit.html
If you have fmf pipe and silencer would it need to be adjusted or will it be good to good without any adjustments?
Just plug and play as I talk about in the video and it will adjust to the exhaust you have. You may have slightly adjust the metering rod, but that should be it.-Chase
Plug and play?
@@Matt_729 Just means you install it and you're ready to go without any changes needed.
can one use it on cars and if so what is the CFM on those carbs?
Lectron has applications for karting, drag racing, and even makes custom manifolds so there is a chance. They make many different models and sizes of carbs so the CFM will vary but I would recommend contacting Lectron directly and letting them know exactly what you plan on doing and see if you can make something work.
I've a XL1200 I've stripped down to the lightest weight possible. I want a 1/4turn quick throttle to go with an LECTRON CARB. BASIC as possible.
2015 yz250 2 stroke. Fmf pipe and silencer, boysen reeds, rebuilt with vertex piston. Installed lectron and started it up. Was immediately pinging and surging lean idle. Richened it 1/4 turn like they said at a time, still lean but not as bad. Turned 1/4 more rich, still slightly lean. Checked for air leaks everywhere, even did crank seals. Still lean. Although it’s getting better the more I richen it, I’m kinda concerned that I had to adjust this “self adjusting” carb this much already. Should I keep turning richer? Anyone have specific measurements for the metering rod from a similar bike I can use?
I have a 2009 yz250, gnarly pipe, boyesen reed. I had to do 2 full turns rich, and it runs perfect. I had to play with the idle screw 1/2 turn rich because I had a slight dead spot off idle. haven't had to touch it since. When they say self-adjusting, they are talking about elevation and temp changes, soon as you get the rich/lean complete you are done.
I'm looking forward to a gl1100 build and I would like some new carburetors. I've got no problem with heavy modifications as I find the challenge fun and got the tools for the job. Would some lectrons fit the gl1100? are there any downdraft carbs?
Lectron makes custom carburetors for all sorts of different applications so there shouldn't be a problem with making something work for your build. You can contact Lectron directly and they should be able to get you squared away on what you would need for your GL1100.
Hope that helps!
Id love to pick up a set for my 82 kz1000 ltd. I Just ordered the kerker 4-1 with pod filters, a set of lectrons sound like a better alternative then dicking around with jetting.
Mannn nothing for the older bikes?! Where’s the love for my RM 125 😑
The Lectron Carburetors for Japaneese bikes are built to order and have a 7 day build time, however, some orders will ship sooner. for that reason we are unable to carry them. They are available online. Sorry for any inconvenience. *-Vinny* www.lectronfuelsystems.com/index.php/off-road/all-others/rm125.html
right i saw nothing for the big twins either on their website....
edit... nevermind after adding item to cart i see i can select the right one... at least score on this while i manage the rest...
I want to know an honest opinion on how good these are becuase if they wont work in -10 to 95 degrees then i will just get a 250f. If these will perform good in minnesota winter then i will get a yz 125. Please give me a honest opinion and not just promote it.
We acutally did a ride review of the Lectron if you want to watch that. We tested on a very warm day, roughly 90 degrees, and we went from around 4,000 feet all the way up to about 10,000 in one day and it performed awesome! As for the -10, that's something we couldn't really test. you could ask that question on the product page and see if someone who is using it could give you a better answer. Hi guys ...I have a 2017 Huskq 300 TE and fitted with an Electron carb I have enjoyed the bike ,but I noticed some wear on the slide ...Is there replacement parts available ?

hi are these carbs good for racing. i have a rm125 should i buy one thanks? plz reply.
*Quantim* They're designed for really any style of riding whether it be motocross, single track or desert racing. These definitely take the guess work out of jetting, if you're having jetting issues. Hope this helps.
hi thanks for the reply. gonna go pick one up now :)
Do you keep the reed valve?
yep. This just replaces the carb but everything else stays the same.
can you use it on my 4 stroke? and how much are they? I may need 16 of them.
Yes, they are made for 4-strokes and the price will vary depending on what bike you're putting it on and what model carburetor you go with.
Looking for the best Lectron carb possible....😊
Can i put that lectron carb on a 125 chinese dirt bike i saw it done on a ssr 300 chinese let me know???
Lectron makes carburetors for all sorts of applications, so there should be one that will work. You may need to measure what size carburetor your bike requires and contact Lectron directly to see what they have that will be compatible.
www.lectronfuelsystems.com/contact/
Besides $500, what are the issues with one of these carbs vs air striker or oem?
Hmm, that about 3 weeks of groceries for this single man. How fat are you? lol Kidding. Much of the problem is we are not allowed to make money. Pretty sure you are in that boat too. After engineering degrees and a lot of shop experience, I had to start my own little business to make more money than "Just Over Broke", (JOB).
Thank our founding fathers for free enterprise, or what is left of it. Should you get used to it?
It is not very simple. Well, it is tuned for your bike, and easy to adjust, but I promise you, the fluid dynamics involved and the engineering is not simple. Not too many graduates of our schools can figure this kind of stuff out anymore. Too busy with gender studies, and trying to figure out what bathroom to go into.
I have a Suzuki 400 am. Do they make one that fits my bike?
I'm guessing you have a DR-Z 400SM? Yes, there is a Lecton carb for the DRZ400's. You can go to Lecton's site or contact them to find out exactly which one they recommend for your bike.
Does it make it start easier? My dads 2000 yz 250 is super hard to start
We've used these on several bikes and the bikes have always fired right up. But your dads bike not starting could be more than just the carburetor so I don't want to say that it will fix that problem without having a good idea of what's going on it with first.-Chase
Have you done a compression test? May need a new top end
Is is me or is it hard to start a 2 stroke with this carb installed ? Fresh spark plug , good CDI box etc , 32:1 premix with 91 octane . what gives ?
Yes, it seems to do nothing on a cold start, then bam it slowly starts up, not like a carb that fires to life with twice the amount of fuel. part of the design .
@@jetdr i need to sell my smart carb then lol , i dont like it .
I have a 2014 Honda XR650L can I get one of these carburetors for this bike?
Robert, we don't have one for that model, unfortunately. You could try contacting lectron directly and see if they carry one.
im just nervous about these leaning out the mixture too far, and possibly blowing an engine. i got an old 84 cr 500 and if this thing makes that big bastard more reliable ill spend the 400$ on the thing right now
Cody, I have yet to hear someone say that this leaned out the bike too much and caused any sort of engine problems. Reading rider reviews, I don't see anyone having that problem. I've only heard excellent reviews from people that use them.-Chase
Rocky Mountain ATV MC alright sounds good enough for me haha
does this work only on dirt bikes or dual sports bike?
I find the best source of information is the manufacture. What do you think?
Is the anyone available for Sherco 125 ser 2018? I would need a 36mm carburator but Lectron does only have 38mm ore bigger😭
Lectron doesn't have one listed on their website for your bike but you may be able to give them a call and see if they have anything that would work on your 125.
@@rmatvmc okey thank you :)

That would be nice for my 17 yz 125 if they make for it
They do
Does it adjust for engine mods as well?
You may have to adjust it a bit if you do big engine modifications or change the fuel. The adjustments are pretty easy to do and Lectron has great support if you have any questions tuning.
@@rmatvmc ok, thank you
Hw to order a Lectron carburetor kit. Sir. Ma'am.?
The website shows they are available for a '90 and up Cr500 but not '89's??

I believe the 40mm carb they have for the CR500 works for all years but I would give Lectron a call directly to make sure. If not they should have no problem building or finding one that works for that bike.

Hi, do you ship in Italy?
It depends on the products you're wanting. Certain manufacturers don't allow their products to be taken out of the country but we definitely do ship to Italy.
Thanks for watching!
So they make em for 4 stroke?
Yes, Lectron does have kits available for some 4 stroke models.
Do they make one that would fit and work on my 2019 honda crf 150rb

@@rmatvmc oh thanks for the fast reply. Would cost more than I paid for the bike but was just day dreaming about it for my Vulcan 500 for the gas milage and all the other positives. They seem pretty cool.
"Self tuning" with manual tuning adjustments.. 🤔
You set the right tune once and it will always be pretty much optimized no matter the air density of where youre riding. Very clever design!
How much is that nice carburetor Sir? Please reply, thanks
They range between 4-600$ depending on the vehicle.
Can u run on e85 with this carb????
that's a good question .. You would need to get 30% to 40% more gas through the jets.. You could have to contact Lectron directly and tell them what make and model bike you are working on
I'd be asking if E85 will destroy you're crank seals.....
So you still have adjustments, and their are a pain to access.
Lectron's are way easier to adjust than traditional carburetors and a lot less finicky.
Thanks for checking out the video!
TE150 Stock carb- turn your air-screw out to 2 turns, install RK head insert, run high octane gas, outperform this farkle carb that they're trying to promote here. You'll loose the flat spot in the powerband, it'll idle better, pull much harder off the bottom and make the bike feel like you added two teeth to the rear sprocket. Best part is it only cost around $150.
Hi sir.. how can i buy your lectron carb? Im frome philliphines

If you're too dumb to get it I actually feel bad for you.
@@KalLanPIDT i think he gets it no need to feel bad.
Actually
Its externally adjustable ,not self adjusting ffs
They call it self adjusting because once it is set you no longer have to touch it to keep your tune perfect. A traditional carb must be adjusted for every 1,000-3,000 feet of elevation change and 20-50 degrees of temperature change to keep the tune perfect.
@@TheKtm300rider It might be a little less sensitive but not nearly as much as they claim
@@ironswan9990 I'm pretty sure you are confusing the powerjet carb with the lectron, the powerjet is fully externally adjustable so it can be tuned manually as you ride. The lectron on the other hand is affected by all of the same variables as an engine so it adjusts on its own.

great product............horribly over priced.
seems like this carb is catering to lazy/uninformed riders who cant adjust a carb properly
dudes tuning a carb is NOT hard
below 5,000 feet, use a lower clip position to allow less air , above use a higher one to let more air in (since its thinner). jetting is so stupid easy, unless you race you really shouldnt have to change the size of your main jet. I run full fmf exhaust systems and boyesen reeds on all my machines and I have never had to mess around with jetting on any of them. If your bike doesnt come down from a rev good, richen it up, if your bike bogs lean it up. on 2 strokes set your idle around 1700 rpms. make sure your float height is correct and the valve isn't sticking.
its seriously not that hard to adjust your carb. 400+ dollars for a carb is ridiculous, ESPECIALLY for a recreational rider. If you legitimately race, than yes I'd probably buy one but the average everyday rider would be wise to learn how to tune a carb and spend that money elsewhere
I love Rocky Mountain Atv but not happy with Lectron Carbs. I just bought a $900+ carb off them and they just came out with a new slide for the carb I bought Now they want another $125+ for it ....pissed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Xcelerator metering rod adds about $130 whether you buy it separately or in a kit with the carb.
