The build is pretty quick easy, ~30min. I did some research and found that this drivetrain is particularly powerful. Kinda odd that it's Racerstar motors at its core but that just shows you how little development has happened in this area. The King Kong 65mm props are apparently touted as the most amazing props too. I wouldn't know since I haven't tested much brushed stuff but I did get a few props to try and the KK 65mm are WAY better. It still flies pretty crappy but it's only 1S. I really wouldn't recommend this to any beginner or really anyone unless you know what you're doing and what you're getting. Making it actually fly right definitely takes some knowhow. Stock BetaFlight is terrible for this size class. Took a few batteries to tune it okay. It still gets blown around really easily by a light breeze and if you're trailing a car or something it wobbles in the draft.
Thanks to NotFastEnuf, my tune now is MUCH better. Insanely good performance for a little 1S quad.
Settings:
Reversed props
1068 min throttle
(It will hover at near min stick so you gotta keep moving)

Roll - 115, 75, 100
Pitch - 120, 78, 110
Yaw - 70, 45
Antigravity - 4.6 (VERY important)
PT 1 filter, all filters on including dynamic filtering
My rates:
Pitch/roll - 1.29, 0.75
Yaw - 1.58, 0.68
A note about these components. They're super janky and likely to have faults and problems. Especially these ultra cheap eachine components. Don't expect stellar life cycles from any of this stuff.

Right on the money about ducted tiny whoop frame slowing the props. That's also why a tiny whoop tune runs 45 D gain and your unducted brushed micro needs 125 or more D gain. Also your d gains are way too low and P is still a bit low. If you jack up around 120/75/135 - and don't remove or reduce any filtering - it will fly ALOT smoother. ALOT. Do it - put the filtering back and plug in my numbers! :p
Oh yeah ... and you need to get build weight below 34 grams.

I got my first Tiny Whoop last week. When I flew it on stock PIDs, I was like you and thought "Oh man. This may have been a mistake.", but then I started tuning it, and now I'm having a blast! It's not the same as my 5", but it's really not supposed to be. You can do a million things with a tiny little 1S that you could just never do with a 5". I'm one of the few (probably) that WOULD pay $500 for a super bad ass 1S that I could fly anywhere rain or shine. My 1S dream would be something with a super tiny brushless motor, like 0712 or something (which I've never seen), with a full HD cam, like a future RunCam Split that is really light enough for 1S and doesn't have super mad latency. A pipe dream today, but in another couple of years, maybe not. Ultimately, my answer is that I do believe it's worth the trouble to be tiny. I'll never toss my 5" and just fly my Whoop, but I damn sure won't toss my Whoop and just fly big stuff either. The experiences are completely different, and equally awesome. 🙂

Definitely brushed quads will not die in the 2018. There will be even more released (Fatshark, FrSky have their own brushed quads announced). And I will be building a few ones in the 2018!

I have a sweet spot for 1S micro builds, I can't help it Bob :P Currently working on a 1S brushless ultralight build (among other things) with the Slingshot frame from Tomoquads, still waiting for parts.

Hey, so I used your build as well as kabab fpv as inspiration for my own, my first build ever and using a flysky transmitter, racerstar 8.5s and the machine AIO flf3 flight controller. Fist of all this quad is fast! But during my flights my quad sometimes goes crazy and almost losses control of itself, usually after a few minutes of flight and in a high G turn or flip, almost like it is over correcting the inputs I'm giving it, I'm flying in horizon , using kababs pids and slowly working my way up with stick sensitivity ex.... Rc rates, expo and super expo. I'm new to this grade quad and have only ever flown toy grade, so does anyone have any tips as to what I need to be looking for that is off with how my quad almost goes crazy and flips over into the ground? No brown outs on fpv. Also quad is 39grams and 55 grams AUW with 500 mAh and 60 grams AUW with 750 mAh battery.
Damn i came across this, and remembered this hype, decided to have a watch to compare it to the tp3 the following year! And its crazy how far weve come in the hobby just in the past year!
Just watched this video for the 3rd time because it really shows how much fun you had flying this thing. I would accept all the technical drawbacks of a low-end brushed quad if it's cheap. Not because I am a cheapscape but because having an expendable quad makes you fly with a don't-care attitude which is a prerequisite for unadulterated fun.
tabs are the same material as the electrodes. One is copper, one is aluminium. So... aluminium is harder to solder therefor they have a small strip of copper spot-welded to them.
Aspirin does not work for aluminium but if you really want to, sand it well and quickly cover (a drop) the scratched part with motor oil. Solder carefuly beneath the oil drop.
And, IMHO, the main issue with brusheds is motor life and failure within about one hour of cumulated usage...
YES, having a quality decent brushed board would be AMAZING!!!!!!
The tabs on lipo batteries sucks for soldering but if you put some pin holes in the tabs it will help. The solder will go through the holes onto both sides of the tab and help it hold on. It's not perfect but it works.
yeah I was thinking that might be the only way. Poke a hole, string the wire through and solder it all. Physical contact rather than chemical one but whatever.
DO THIS: Eachine H8 flashed with Silverware and nano AIO camera. Not sure how it compares to what you flew in your video, but those H8 have to be just about the best fun-per-doller in the hobby. $14 for the H8 on Banggood, $15 for one of many ~3.5 gram AIO cameras, $3 for an STM32 ST-LINK USB adapter, free software, free firmware, a little soldering, and following a few steps outlines in various forums...and you've got a surprisingly-capable 1s toy-grade (read: disposable) acro flyer that is a LOT of fun, with tunable acro firmware, and really packs a punch!
I've since moved to brushless and cannot understand how I was able to fly this brushed POS so well since.
There's more to FPV then ripping holes in the space-time continuum and recording it on a gopro. Micros are for one thing only: mad fun whenever you want, wherever you want. Can't #ruinthehobby when anyone that even notices is laughing their ass off :-)
Just skip the brushed. Micro brushless barely weighs more, or costs more, and just flies so much better. TWO INCH FLOSS! TWO INCH FLOSS! TWO INCH FLOSS! (come on people, gotta chant this loud...) TWO INCH FLOSS!

I love my 95 and 105mm brushed quads. They run off 1S 600mah , 6 minute flights, quick , agile, and barely make a sound. I fly them up and down my street and I don't think anyone notices. a playground becomes an FPV wonderland with so many obstacles to fly up, over, and through!
I love affordable, accessible, easy build little micros like this. Not all of us have enough money to build top spec quads whenever the technology changes. Yes, there are limitations to brushed but I'm willing to accept that they don't perform as well as my 5" brushless quads. As you say, these are brilliant for small flying sites that would be impossible (or illegal/dangerous) to fly with a larger drone. I agree with you about tiny whoops too-I have a couple of TW but although they are good for flying a roun the house and bouncing off walls the performance and stability is massively affected by the ducts. I'd love o see you do more videos like this-I really enjoy the it and I can't be the only one who likes these kind of models.
Last year before winter I decided to buy a 1s brushless to be able to fly in my appartment in the winter. - It endet up with four different 1s brushless quads and numerous spare parts orders.
I will never again build a 1s brushless quad unless it would be for a child to get a first try and this would be a TinyWoop style one to be able to fly it indoors.
On my TinyWoop style quads, the frames broke multiple times, so I changed to those QX90 styles with carbon frame. - But these could not really be flown any more in an (european ;-)) appartment.
But for flying them outside, a beeper was missing so I lost one.
But the thing that is most anoying to me is the amount of replacement motors I bought while the time I was "trying to" fly those micros; and props.
Andy if you imagine multiple orders of replacement parts, even cheap ones, it'll cost you some nerves waiting and also every time shipment and tax. At the end, in the sum, it wasn't that cheap or inexpensive any more.
If you don't want to directly order two sets of replacement motors and lots of props along with your brushless micro or you don't have your micro-quad store right around the corner, I wouldn't recomment it if you like to fly that thing outside.
I am so happy now with my little 3" JapaluSplit which is also tiny, but has lots of power, is imho almost indistructable, almost flies like a 5" and is really very, very silent!
But I'm very interested in your judgement over time.

yep bang on dude! its all about having a quad for every occasion for sure. one of my favorite flyers atm is my qx90 fleet.2 with the plastic frames which are great for flying over the top of my house and around the garden whilst sat comfortably on my sofa and one with a carbon frame and an added guard which all in all weighs much more but makes that same craft better suited to indoor around the house flying. i cant wait to see what the future holds for brushed micros, they are loads of fun and so cheap to maintain and open up a whole different world of potential flying sites and opportunities to rip.will continue to watch this happy space and keep flossing
I started with these brushed micros, quickly upgraded to these motors and props. Made a huge difference, at least this setup will fly decent enough. The wizard 220 scared the shit outta me when I was first learning on 3s, plus is these micros dont break the bank on batteries, 6 batteries for 35 bucks. I was in the air more often. Now I can fly my wizard with some confidence that i can control it and have a blast.
I'd say you should check out some brushless 2 inch 2S setups next. Those tiny brushless motors are often lighter than the 8mm brushed ones, so with an AIO camera you can still get a build around 50g but with way more power and a decent receiver. Tomo will definitely hook you up

Tried your intial settings before I read the reactions and found 120/75/135 Will try those soon. For now I can only say, finally finally finally I seem to be able to control my q100 frame with 8025 motors decently !!!! What an improvement thank you thank you ever so much!!! Will try to up PIDs to 120/75/135!!! Cannot believe it will make it fly even better than it already does at thos moment with KababFPV''s settings. Must be amazing, cannot wait !!! Thank you all again (NotFastEnuf and KabaFPV and all the others that contributed to these settings)!
I like to see that you enjoy flying a brushed micro too. That's what i started with. They are cheap, small, not too loud, people barely notice them and you can't cause real damage with it. But not easy to fly, I was shocked how much more control I had when I tried out my first brushless. I think it can't be that difficult to develop a brushed board with motor braking. I will buy one if not too expensive. After I finally built a 5' quad, I had to build a brushed micro again, used the same frame as you did. GNB 450mah 1S works good for me with this setup. But that's my first 1S lipo that doesn't suck. I like your videos, you sometimes push me on details that i had not noticed before, wish you a productive and happy new year.
as brushless get smaller and stronger brushled will phase out, but i do think an all in one board to compliment that shift would nice. i have not seen many 1s brushless quads. are there any comparison videos?
May I also suggest getting a hold of Nyguen Tran from AirbladeUAV he is a great source of micro brushless info and has several awesome frame designs! Happy to see you venturing into smaller builds!
It's really nice to have the ability to fly anywhere! I put my brushed 1s quad on the balcony and I fly from the kitchen or living room. Since I put conformal coating to protect the electronics, I fly under light rain or when it snows. I use the Tattu 1S 25C 800mAh battery (pack of 6) from amazon.
I have a 2s brushed micro with a eachine qx95c frame (rebuildable in 10min). I had the 1s version and it was ok. The 2s version makes a huge difference. I fly it on tri blade props. I don't get the speed as the twin blade prop but a big increase in stability. I mostly fly 5inch but some days I will still fly brushed in a playground were I can fly proximity or in semi public places. Loads of fun and you don't upset anybody. 2s does make a difference for me. Thanks for the good video content.
Li-Po batteries can deliver really high currents per cell. If you use a boost converter, you can increase your operational voltage to a virtually arbitrary number. So, a 1S Li-Po could probably handle current draw at a much higher voltage.
I've been testing this hardcore lately. The new stuff I've got is right at the 1S limits. It's heavily dependent on many factors...videos on that coming soon. Look up the Babytooth build...
I still have my QX90 and fly it from time to time, I still think brushed has a place in this world of brushless micros

yeah I couldn't understand how just a tiny little wire could do so incredibly well. It beats pretty much all my 5" quads on the full range Frsky Rx's
I think there's definitely a place in the hobby for small brushed quads. I've got a few 3" brushless quads, several 5", A couple 6" and even some larger 9" multirotors, But when flying those I've always got the nagging worry going through my head about the possibilities of losing control, injuring any bystanders that may wander along to see what's making the noise, property damage, or crashing and not being able to find where 200+ quids worth of quad went.
I've built several brushed micros, And love the feeling that "The worst that can happen" HAS to be several orders of magnitude lower than for my bigger/heavier/faster/more expensive brushless models.
In my crowded urban place I've pretty much stuck to cheap safe 100mm brushed micros for buzzing around the parks or tiny whoops indoors since it rains a lot too. All of my brushless 5" quads and mavic collect dust most of the year...
I was talking about scale with a family friend over Christmas. I'd love it if you would explore the concepts of scale and try to explain why tiny quads, even with infinite power... will never feel like a 5" quad. Does it have something to do with air compression and surface area? Viscosity? Would be a good video. Cheers
I wish I had the time to investigate that further. I've been slowly and inconsistently trying to figure that out for years now. Physics just doesn't scale. Like if you made an ant the size of a person, it would be all exoskeleton and no ant because of the weight of parts needing support. Physics and air viscosity doesn't seem to scale how we would imagine.
Gotta charge my 1S packs...these things rock. The eachine and kingkong from 65 to 95mm are all fine. Just throw em rolling spider props on them and get strong spare motors and you are set for the winter.
Try a brushed Hexacopter I have a RotoriousFPV Specktopus frame and use 7mm motors rated at 17'500 kv with Hubsan 55mm props and it rips flips and rolls a little closer to bigger quads. It's only brushed drone I like sure it's not as good as anything brushless but I live in New York and don't have always a lot of room to fly and I can fly it the Speckapus anywhere. People see it and think it's small and cute and are instantly disarmed and are instead interested with it any how it works which is a nice change from the usual response of say a 5" quad. Plus you can try to flip or split S anything and have to worry about hitting things and causing damage. Great video
2 inch micro brushless is where it's at. Carries hd. And is so light and quiet it won't bother or hurt anyone. 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s. The possibilities are endless. Im testing a new frame with FlexRC that is 2in, 4s, with Runcam split. Gets amazing HD and has AMAZING power to weight ratio. No need for loud 5inch anymore :)
The ducts on a tiny whoop also help keep it stable and level. There are a few good videos on youtube explaining the aerodynamic effects of the duct.
Yeah I know all those concepts but I really really REALLY cannot believe that just 15g of thrust wafting through a duct can do anything to help. The tiny whoop I've flown that had no ducts and was rebuilt on just a carbon frame performed significantly better.

So I've got an old sky viper stunt quadcopter that's pretty crap, but has 8520 brushed motors on it. Wondering if I could do something like this then 3d print a frame maybe?
I was building and flying brushed quads for the past year. I kept the builds very light but put good flight controllers-motors in them, so I had telemetry (rssi) for tracking and could see the quads battery voltage (flysky). I also put very good 8.5 motors (Spintech Sidewinders). The quads were pretty quick and very cheap ($75) or so. Loads of fun on a 1S battery. If you don't think they can be fast and fun, just check out "AndyRC" channel on the Crook110 build. Just recently, I switched to brushless motor quad building, much faster, more power but at much higher cost and lower flight times. So I suggest everyone learn to fly on brushed but when you know how to fly and budget permits - go brushless !

So there's never really any research put in to these theories?
The guards reduce the communication between the high and low pressure zones of the props. This increases efficiency. Also ram pressure on the front of the duct increases thrust at the front of the duct and reduces thrust on the rear of the duct by due to the Bernoulli theorem which creates a stabilization effect.That's why tiny whoops have such a high power to weight ratio and fly smoother compared to quads in their class and slightly above. The prop doesn't slow down faster because of the duct, the 30%+ increase in thrust is also lost when the prop spins down.

No flight board design can over come how the brushes are tensioned on the armature. It's difficult to slow a car down with only a gas pedal. :)
Brian Koch yes I know all that well and good. However in this use case, that's definitely not how it's working. Simple test is to build a tiny whoop on a carbon only frame with no guards. All the sudden you have about 40% better performance. The guards in this case are just blocking the prop from unloading it's thrust. They're increasing the friction.
Brian Koch I do put a good bit of research and actual testing into my theories. Please recognize that before you think I'm just talking out of my ass. You can also test for yourself. In fact Bruce tested the ducts and found no flight benefits on a quad.... because there are none.

I love a technical discussion based on hard science. Just saying it's better because key words isn't a discussion.
Ducts work by prevent thrust from being unloaded parallel to the blade. This reduces high and low pressure zones from colliding which reduces efficiency. Ducts do promote thrust being unloaded perpendicular to the blade which increases efficiency due to more thrust actually being used as thrust. So yes they block and promote unloading which gives a net effect of less energy being used to create thrust.
Do you see why my head explodes when you oversimplify by saying " All the sudden you have about 40% better performance. The guards in this case are just blocking the prop from unloading it's thrust" ? i am genuinely interested in discussing your theories when i post.

Dunno what the packs were. I just picked up decent 3S and 4S packs, ripped them apart and soldered JST connectors to them. Worked out really well. I think my packs are performing better than any small 1S pack I've used.
Yes please, Great to see this being discussed! Absolutely not delusional, not crazy. Please look into progressing all areas of micro brushless tech ( you would be a great addition to the round table). Completely worth it! Fly anywhere without hassle while still maintaining an amazing connection to the craft, even with what's out there nowadays.
There would be no worries of any threats and will be much harder for the system to take from us, with all the possible regulations coming down the pipeline due to the rapid growth in popularity and control needing to be had (hopefully nothing too crazy). I am hundreds of dollars invested and still continue to spend and support while maintaining what is current and going on in the Tiny Whoop realm and haven't even dove into setups like the one you presented yet... I have not regretted it at all and not stopping. It is hard to explain what it is but there is definitely something there and a place for it. There would be nothing more amazing than an ultra capable micro flying bot!

As someone who is new to the hobby and only has experience flying an inductrix and syma clone with their own radios, i really appreciate someone looking into making a better quality components for my old gear. Its much more forgiving on my wallet and to the quad when i have such a beginner skill level. I was looking to build a brushless micro but i think i may just stick to building a cheaper brushed one when i get a dedicated radio.

Yes! Brushed still lives lol. An F4 brushed board that can handle an 8k/8k loop would be amazing. Also have an option for 1-2s capabilities! You are so right with being able to fly in places that are usually impossible, worth it just for that!!

practically the drone performs well all the directions that I make it do but when I make it fly back and I immediately give it the forward command the drone turns upside down and falls to the ground as if it were losing control if I do the contraction it does not give me this problem what can it be? it is as if when I do this maneuver the front is unbalanced with respect to the rear

the Tooth Fairy was an experiment. There are a few versions out there but It's not really fantastic at anything. in fact if you were to build one, a 3" or 4" would be ideal on it. Otherwise, I've got some new stuff coming out some time in the future based on what I learned with the Tooth Fiary...
I started in custom brushed micros. Basically what I did for 2 years. They are surprisingly fun!
Brushed models’ weight and speed makes it much more flyable in parks! I want!

I build the 2s version, ended up at 60g.. but its so damn crazy how perfect it flies.

Yes a quality brushed board! I have a tiny whoop, a gremlin/babyhawk, and a 5”. For me, the tiny whoop and babyhawk are so much more fun because you can run them into trees full throttle all day and nothing will happen to them. The 5” is so much more stressful, I’ve killed 2 flight controllers in my last 2 crashes. Also, I live in a more urban area, so the smaller quads are so much more convenient. I have to drive 30+ minutes just to fly my 5”. A brushed micro that flies decent, is durable, and fairly cheap would be awesome! How would you compare this and the babyhawk on 3s?
Tiny brushless is also tons and tons of fun. And you don't replace motors all the damn time. And they damp_light.
I built this same brushed quad. I used a different camera. It’s so weird,.. when I go in a straight line with some velocity and make a left turn it dips and “falls into’ the left turn, almost as if it is “side stepping sideways” more than the usual turning on other micro brushed quads I have. It has a terrible feel. However turning RIGHT feels like any normal micro brushed quad. And if I reduce the throttle (like I do on my other micro brushed quads) this one wants to fall out of the sky immediately flipping.

Sounds like one of your motors are messed up or the prop is on too tight or something and slowing down the motor.
Cocky and arrogant as ever, but I would say that the market for these small quads is more than you can see. Think about it like this, you never flown a quad before.. Never seen someone fly one in person.. Your interested but need a gateway as it were. Something not overly complex or intimidating but equally awesome. Then this is what you want. The nano, the toy, the whoop, and others are whats brought in the new flyers, customers, and MONEY that fuel the hobby. This is how and why we have moved ten years ahead in two. My advice, if you can increase, improve, and help advance these smaller quads do it. And remember, fly further, faster, and more often! Merry Christmas.

Try 7x20 motors, I use from syma x5, around 3-4 dollars four of them. You will weight 6 grams less and power is....BEAST! I will soon upload a video.

Nice build! I feel those stock mosfets gives you just enough power and can be largely improved with better ones with lower Vgs and Rds such as the IRLML6244TRPBF or IRLML2502.. I am changing FETs on most of my micro boards.
BTW Please design a brushed board with osd and descent mosfets 2s capable, that would be the bomb!
You need to use aluminium solder on battery tabs, you can use a vegetable oil method to reduce oxidisation, but just order the aluminium solder its so much easier :)
That's impressive peformance for brushed. all the brushed quads i've tried could barely recover from a little dive.

I mess around with 1s cordless powered quads here and there.. trust me you can get big power if you have the batteries to handle Micro Motor Warehouse Dark editions, on the Parrot props... on a 45 to 50 gram AUW (I do the same thing I by the Tatty 4s 75c 450s and break them down to 1s 75c 450s, the cells really 490 to 510mah) and they flat cook, I mean NO they aren't nothing close to even a brushless 2in build... but they are quiet, fast, fun, handle decently (PID tuning is totally different then on brushless anything, like your D gains will be 100 to 140 or more lol) with the Dark Editions on Parrot props with the Tattu 75c 450 cells I will get 4 mins of pretty much wife open flying and 6 minutes of just messing around.. they have so little mass you can fly them anywhere without worry.. I have build 2s 8520 builds as well, they are another ball game... high performance 2s rated 8520 powered quads can be extremely FAST like keeping up with high KV brushless 2s ultra micros but won't handle nearly as good due to the m ucj slower motor response and no motor breaking but they are fast.
I'm curious about how he will get his quad out from construction zone if accidental wind gust will smash his quad into crane. I don't think that this construction zone is accessible for anyone.

Definitely develop a brushed board! They're fun to experiment with in the winter and there are too few to choose from now. And maybe a hex version?

i have the bat100 ... but the motors are very ineficient. big mistake .. it was so praised but i noticed that nobody actually flown it more than a few times before making the review on it.

HUGE warning. The bat100 is likely a LOT more powerful than my little brushed POS here. You need to move to 1106 ~7000kv motors on 2.5" props and 3S because that's where the real performance is. Or just buy a Babyhawk R

was flying 5 inch quads on 4s then went smaller to 3 inch on 4s then a 2 inch on 2s and now brushed again really like them I can fly them every where!
Out of curiosity did u go with the f3 board instead of the f4 for a reason? Putting together a couple of builds but I’m hesitating to pull the trigger on parts...have u done any more camera experiments? And thoughts on 2s

Kabab FPV Gotcha, I found and went with an f3 with built in receiver...dry weight should come in at about 32-33 grams...NotFastEnuf helped out a lot!

lol they're pretty trashy motors. I'd consider that normal. They only really last for about 40 flights before they start losing a lot of performance.
Build a pepperfiish! Thats where it's at! I have one and it flies awesome and is lighter and has all the snap of brushless. It took some iterations to get it working well, but I love mine!

I wish the 1s brushless scene was better. I really enjoyed the video but I don't really care for brushed motors anymore. I enjoy watching you do it, but I wouldn't want to do it myself

Having spent lots of time flying brushed I can tell you that it gets super annoying having to replace motors all the time. Plus quality of brushed motors is inconsistent unless buying good quality motors (which really aren't cheap.) I've probably spent enough on brushed motors to have bought a brushless! The biggest plus for brushed is that their light weight and carry almost no inertia into a crash.

I have some experience with brushed quads in last 2 years. Geared toy flyers, 80-100mm DIY brushed quads like one in photo in this video, tiny whoops with 615 and 716 motors. They certainly are fun, especially tiny whoop models. And they are kinda slowish too because of weak motors and low voltage as Kabab told here. Voltage definitely seems a notable issue, because you can get considerably good response from 1S only for very light setups (
How are you running 65mm props on that MI110 frame, which states max prop size in description as both 55mm and 60mm, though no talk of 65mm?

You're definitely on to something with high quality brushed components! Brushed is incredibly fun for tight spaces, or crowded areas. Nobody cares, like you said, if a tiny little thing buzzes past them. They arent scared of it, the big quads scare people, and obviously cost more and are more dangerous. I'm going to have to get a non whoop brushless frame and play with it!
In my crowded urban place I've pretty much stuck to 100mm brushed micros for buzzing around the parks or tiny whoops indoors since it rains a lot too. All of my brushless 5" quads and mavic collect dust most of the year...
Dude go 2S! I’ve been playing around with brushed drones recently, with the 8520’s and my own printed frames (heavy frames; well heavier) The performance jump is amazing. I’m pretty certain most if not all your negatives will be taken care of with a 2S. just make sure your motors can handle the voltage.

Started with diy coreless builds, fell into brushless, mini quads, but end game story, regardless how crazy I fly, I still have a 1s 8mm coreless to fly around outside too. Takes a special kinda of fpv pilot to stick onto coreless stuff, the tuning alone tends to turn most away. The only .02 cents comment, this isn't a toy, regardless it's a hobby grade multirotor...you have osd😂 Great video non the less, "less subtitles" 😂
Kabab just ruff up the tabs with heavy grit sand paper use a little flux or more heat and I will solder up no problem

As crazy as it sounds I fly my brushed more than my brushless models. Mostly because it fits in my pocket, parts are crazy cheap (if you can even manage to break them) and most of all people aren't intimidated by I big screaming monster. I mostly hear it reminds them of a bug. Glad your having fun I hope you keep messing around with it in your free time. It's also great to teach friends acro.

Haha flyes great. I tried 7mm motors whoops (opposed to the 6mm standard ones) and they have much more punch, but this thing beats it! I have a few Beecore FC's lying around, you think I would fry the FETs if I put these 8mm motors on?

RockTouching - Do it! It will work. In fact it is the begining of a great setup. The beecore is much lighter than most fc receiver combos. Just keep it really simple and light. 5 gram frame, beecore, sub 4 gram aio cam. End result will blow away every other brushed build around cause you will be sub 34 grams!

There are videos about why. There are many reasons but the best reason is that it bounces off branches and walls better and keeps splash off your lens from the props
tried brushless micros? I've just built up a 56mm one with 0703 motors (the sunnysky ones not the godawful racerstars) 40mm props

the solder tabs on flat cell packs are made of aluminum. get a solder+flux kit made for soldering to aluminum, the regular stuff won't work.

brushed are awesome. like you said, the magic is in the fact that you can do silly things with no major consequences. brushless quad flew like crap not long ago, we just have to work out how to make brushed fly better
