I believe that certain teachers have forgotten how to teach... Thank you for being one of the great ones and for helping us consistently! You are appreciated!
I literally thought of quitting my organic chemistry class within two classes of it. My professor is a bit unorganized, so this was a life saver for me. Subscribed, liked, commented, and now I will check every video you have for help. THANK YOU.
you really helped me understand a lot of details I was frustrated with, my first week of organic chem has been a nightmare for me...reading the book for 5 hrs straight, trying to understand...then going to class realizing I still didn't get it. I wanted to cry. but this helped me learned the basics so now other things will make more sense to me. Thank you Leah.
OMG Ms. Leah, My Chem exam is to tomorrow at 9am ..Im am so blessed that I , some how, found your tutorial videos. Now I completely understand. Now I feel more at ease about the exam. This is a Chem/ online coarse too. YES!!!!!
Currently taking Biochem without any O-Chem background. Khan Academy was helpful, but your video answered all of the questions that it left me with, and you may have saved my semester (and hours of googling). Thank you, you're a rockstar!
Wow! This clears up a lot of saved me the headache of trying to understand my textbook. I'll definitely refer back to your channel as I continue through chemistry!
Thank you Leah again for your time on this stuff..I have a few years in between doing general chem and then starting this Organic chem. I feel like professor teaches nothing, so this is the best way for me to learn.
this is so helpful. I was feeling nervous as in lecture i was completely lost but thanks to your explanation it makes so much sense. I have learned new trait today which is Analyzing rather than memorizing. thank you so much
Oh wow, I'm glad I found this page. I've been sick and missed my chemistry class. This video has really helped me catch up on what I've missed. Thank you so much.
I have test in 2 days and I didn't even get a single thing. When I found video, i was amazed and it was so easy to understand. You're a GOD!!! Thanks heaps!!!
This is so helpful I will continue to go to your channel for extra help and practice. Hopefully it will help me get a decent grade in orgo. I'm definitely subscribing!!
my biology course requires me to take ochem classes and my prof is a mess. i cant understand what his saying most of the time and his pen craft is also a mess. THANK YOU!! you save me having to read books at the library again.
I'm sorry to hear that you don't have a good professor for this course, but I'm happy to know that my videos are helping you so that you can still get through this class
While there were a few errors, it was still a very good and informative video, and it really refreshed my memory for drawing skeletal structures. Thank you 😊
I just started organic chem and began to get confused on the drawing of line structures. Your video has cleared up some of the problems I was having. Thank you.
This video was very helpful !! Can you please post a video about chiral and fisher projections? Also about ring flip and chair conformation (chair, half-chair, and boat). This is what I am studying in orgo class now! Thanks a lot!!
Our A level teachers are forced to teach like in a manner that is best suited to just getting kids to pass the exam. Syllabus is to large. They just got time to teach the method and the reasons. Processing the reason, no hope their. So when I get this level of patient teaching, I gotta thank you and ask you to keep up the great work.
I don't know much about chemistry or how to even word this question properly but I always wondered how you number each position and if it's a different structure why numbering changes direction. Like your cyclohexane example, why does the "1" go at the top left. I don't even expect a reply cuz I understand if there's a nitrogen in it or certain functional groups that might change direction I don't know enough I acknowledge some of it but I don't expect the detailed response. Maybe a taste would help?
I'm sorry, but I don't offer tutoring through UA-cam comments. For help with this and more, I recommend joining the organic chemistry study hall. Full details: leah4sci.com/join
The video is just awesome I have searched for so many videos but this I founded the best of the best to clear my doubts thank u so much and I hope u will solve my questions in future lovely skill of explanation
thank you thank you thank you! :D like iamfromkurramagency, I'm starting a level chemistry in september too so this really helped with my holiday homework! :D
from 2 years m just trying to under stand the structures but m fail to do so but this video help me a lot m so happy but you made it interesting easy to grasp thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you so much! I had a question about the last example, Glutamic Acid. According to the structure of the video, the condensed formula would be C5H8NO4. I wanted to double-check my answer so I searched on google and it says that the formula for Glutamic Acid is C5H9NO4. So 9 Hydrogens instead of the 8 that I count according to the skeletal/Lewis structure in the video. Could you please help me clarify this? Thank you in advance!!
Yes, of course. This is a great question! The overall charge of glutamic acid will change based on the pH of the solution it is in. This particular amino acid has three ionizable groups - the carboxy group, the amino group, and the side chain. By comparing the pH of the solution to the pKa of those individual groups, we can determine whether each will be protonated or deprotonated and also what the overall charge of the molecule will be. For more on this, you can read my tutorial at leah4sci.com/amino-acid-charge-in-zwitterions-and-isoelectric-point-mcat-tutorial/

Oh wow, I'm sorry you had a rough time in orgo, but I'm happy to know I was able to help you through it!
I never understood the whole number of hydrogen's in a skeletal formula idea, but now I get it. Thank you so much
You're very welcome!

Thank you.
So happy to fill those gaps and clear it up for you!
So helpful! Just a couple questions: how did you know to add a lone pair to the N at 12:12? Also how did you know to make those double bonds at 12:41?
This video is more about the skeletal aspect of the structure. Your questions are covered in my intro to orgo series: leah4sci.com/introorgo
Superb! Thanks Leah!!
You're very welcome!
your explanation was the best.

@@Leah4sci Thank you so much for the explanation!! :)
That video was great, just wondering if the molecule drawn at 7:33 would be 2,3-methyl-propane?
Don't forget to put 'di' when you have more than 1 of a substituent
great video... thanks very much
You're very welcome!
thank you so much. really useful!
