Curtis was my favorite player growing up as a jet fan in the late 90s. Had i known this portion of his life story, he'd have easily been my favorite athlete of all time. Thank you Curtis for everything

Had no idea. God bless you and yours Mr. Martin. We as a people are traumatized. We all need to tend to our mental health on a daily. Remember that every person is fighting a secret battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Praise God 🙌🏿.

Sadly much of his story was my own living in abusive household and watching it come full circle where my parents are now on speaking terms. This story made me reflect. Thank you Curtis for sharing publicly what so many of us have been through but can't speak about publicly.

If someone asked me who my favorite running back is all time is … it would be Walter Payton, Eric Dickerson or Barry Sanders….. upon this discovery it is now Curtis Martin. Mad respect ✊🏻.

Is like a cycle of unresolved layered trauma carried from one generation to the next. It takes a bold individual to break the cycle; nevertheless, the layers of trauma still exist until one layer at a time is revisited, processed, and corrected.

This man lived a nightmare childhood/teenager life i could never picture this growing up worrying about if the father was going kill his mother and then worse living in a dumpster fire Pittsburgh.. Curtis Martin will always be my favorite Jet of all time that will never change till the day i die. Man is the definition of perfection even though he admitted his flaws as a teenager but he was a product of his surroundings. Legit you can tell he gets emotional talking about this the man admitted he never loved football, The tune he tells it in always catches heavy emotionally.

Had a similar story but from a different perspective...I am a south African
My dad when I grew up was always a jolly guy,fun to have around, but years later when I was like about 6years old,he lost his job...he became more frastrated, more abusive and every weekend always demanding money with force on my mom or me sometimes,I thought the same way as Curtis did, when he goes to sleep,I'd be holding a knife, thinking I am gonna kill this Guy for doing this...my mom had bone fractures because of him...when I was in the 9nth grade in 2009,my father went to jail over the same thing on the weekend, my mom just quickly took what she bought out of the house, went renting over another person's home, like in a garage...from that day on I took upon myself to help her out with getting part time jobs to put something on the table for me and my little sister who was born in 2000...we never seen my father ever till 2018 when I had courage to go and see how he was coping and coming along, surprisingly my dad had gone crazy... totally lost his mind and his siblings no longer care what does or does not do....till this day,I still feel the need to build both of my parents their separate houses, and buy them both cars of their own, because now I forgive my father,I maybe arrogant and stupid, but I feel like at the age 28 and still having both of your parents alive,it's more than a blessing....but then living in south Africa...i'll probably die unemployed
Your story inspires me Curtis Martin,I hope and pray I find my passion and get to be a millionaire or just to survive one day just like you
