According to Roger Goddell playing football is 100% safe and there’s no link between cte and playing football. So on draft day when Roger Goddell gives draftees the Judas hug he is saying thank you for donating your brain.
Some guys takes hits for decades, retire, become sports casters and businessmen....etc. - they're fine. But a certain percentage of people - higher than what I would have guessed - end up with CTE and it's freaking horrible. I was shocked that of 111 brains donated 110 had degrees of CTE. If I were a parent I wouldn't even let my kid play football. There are plenty of other sports where you don't have to deal with this risk. For that matter, if 110 out of 111 brains examined had this pathology it isn't even a "risk" - it's basically a certainty that a player is gonna have some degree of this damage to the brain. That's crazy.
@@mgreen351 yup I believe I have it from 8 years of playing football since I was 6 years old anxiety depression sometimes dealing with lost of reality not feeling like myself lost of judgement meaning I would do very stupid things that could get me in trouble without the realization of the outcomes a high school football player died on the field not to long ago he had one of the worst cases of cte seen
I’m so sorry. It’s something that really needs to be discussed more. Student athletes and their parents need to know. There are no excuses. The NFHS doesn’t even acknowledge a link between CTE and football, although the NFL does. This needs to be immediately changed. Football players are football players regardless of their age
@@mgreen351 100% agree with you I will not let my kids play contacts sports the biggest discussion is what can we do to stop it there’s no other answer then to to stop having kids play it no matter how much padding is in a helmet or how soft the turf is what causes a concussion is the brain moving you get hit soft or hard your brain is free floating in a liquid also passed down from families for example my dad played football all his life also concussions weren’t a big deal back then so I had to play with concussions the really bad ones I would rest for a day and be back on the field I believe my dad has it he has anger problems he’s been married 6 times he Carrie’s the same symptoms I do
As a 10 year old I had to be put in a mental hospital for threatening of killing myself what 10 year old who has a good life playing football friends school goes through that without there being a actual problem I blame that on cte I had terrible anger flashouts

I love how almost all the big sports casters said during Aaron Hernandez’s suicide that tons of NFL players have CTE, that doesn’t make you go out and kill someone. Yet, here’s another example they never brought up acting like Aaron was a one off.

Mental illness is real, no one claimed he was a victim. They are just providing a potential motive for his irrational actions. As someone else said already, do you think we should just turn a blind eye to the current state of many football players? All of these players doing crazy things and acting “off”. We need more awareness about this, so we can discover treatment options, and things like this stop happening.
