  • When I think Pontiac, I think of their slogan "We are driving excitement". The Excitement Division is how I remember Pontiac. As a child of the 80's and 90's, the mundane GM offerings were sported up with this division. The rental-car poster child Chevrolet Lumina was the fun and sporty looking Grand Prix, and even the almost hideous Chevrolet Lumina MPV dustbuster was made cool as the Pontiac Trans Sport. With the Firebird, that's no exception. If you wanted a car that was fast, and comfortable, yet understated, you went with the Camaro. If you wanted that and the flashiest car Pontiac made, you went with the FIrebird! I had a Firebird, once. An Arctic White 1995 Firebird Formula with graphite leather interior. My first ever car with leather, and I loved it! Looking back, I wish I still had it. Anyways, not much to say here, except, enjoy the last of the F-Body Pontiac!

I remember shopping for a 1999 Formula with my uncle. Exterior design was borderline overdone (for the era). But I couldn't get past that very cheap, plastic interior. And if you sit in a current Chevy pick-up, it's as if GM hasn't change the tactile feel of its interior during the past 20+ years. Ended up with a Nissan Z (mostly trouble free for 12 years/179,000 miles).
