Thanks for new ways to avoid tearing out the ends with the router. I use a bit of scrap but will try blue tape too. And routing the middle of 2 pieces then doing the switcheroo - why didn't I think of that???
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
whilst I was watching this video and cooking dinner, my 15-year-old son wandered into the kitchen and was curious to know why I wasn't as good as you. The only response I could come back with was 'BECAUSE I DRINK SCOTCH!!!!'. Despite your taste in alcohol, your videos are fantastic. Thank you for supporting hobbyists and wannabes like me!
I have just turned 60 this week and am looking fly😊 (this is my new go to expression,as I've never heard it before.THANKS ) Cabinet (hutch) is BEAUTIFUL.💖👍👏👏
This guy makes timber look good. One day soon, your videos are going to inspire so many more photos of "look what he taught me". And you will be proud!
OMG, you are so unsafe in your working environment. haha who needs fingers, love the pelvic thrust. Oak is a stunning wood, so classy. The cabinet is beautiful and as you stated the buyer knows best "NOT". Thanks for sharing BM, no beer today? I thought there was going to be no running, glad I watched all the video.
The lack of a back helps hook up your components and prevents heat buildup from video game consoles and the like. For my living room hutch, I took a 2" holes saw and made a nice grid. Looks great, still holds it together, and plenty of airflow.
Watching your videos has become a treasured Thursday ritual. I was almost disappointed when I thought you weren't uploading it today. Keep up the awesome content!
I gotta say, it's an absolute travesty you don't have more subscribers and views on your vids. You are seriously talented man. And entertaining as hell to boot. Great job!!
I have always tagged a scrap piece to the ends to stop splintering just don't go to the end and swap them round so easy ! I can't believe I'm so daft!!! Thank you👍
I love the Bearded Man. Using humor to do Master Craftsman Woodworking is Great. I have learned so much from shortcuts and stuff I just can't say enough. If you have a Walk-in Business location I would like to visit. Thank you again The Bearded Man.........
I’m not a troll, or one of those pros looking to disagree with you, I’m a beginner and honestly wanting to educate myself. You didn’t explain why the back was so crucial. Is it a structural thing? I would have thought you’d be concerned about racking, but with the middle pieces and the accurate-to-the-millimeter build, it looks solid as a rock. I can’t imagine it failing in two hundred years.
Thanks for sharing the deck of cards idea... could have used that before. Learn something new everyday. Can you share the link for hinges, I would like to replace my cabinet hinges, they have a cool action for soft closing. Thanks,
You are flippin' HILARIOUS!!! Usually, I'll see a video longer than 10 minutes and just move on. (The ADHD is strong in this one!) But, I watched your video in its entirety and learned and enjoyed it the whole time! THANK YOU!!!
Yes!yes, very inspired! Man, you have some very cool tool's. No, no I don't think I'll attempt that anytime soon!! But I have it saved, hope I can attempt before I am 70??!!
This has quickly become my favorite woodworking channel. I get all excited when my bell goes off and it's your video. Makes me feel like a little schoolgirl.
Loved the build. One day I’ll have the tools to make something like that but for now easy peezy stuff for me. Question for the day how’s the dust collection on festool KS 120 miter saw. Didn’t look great in the video wasn’t sure if you had it hooked up or not. Miter saws aren’t known for the greatest dust collection. Thanks Cody
Amazing piece, backless, but really beautiful work! I aspire to attain that level of craftmanship! Working on the hip thrust! Just need to buy a domino cutter now!
I like your method of nibbling away the dado. When I saw the palm router with a 1/2” dado bit I say “oh no you don’t”. I’ve seen where you make multiple passes by increasing the depth of the bit each pass but this way looks much quicker.
Congrats on the 100k plaque. You've earned it with all the awesome videos you put out. Really enjoy your content. Thought about starting a patreon? I don't watch YT with ads and want to make sure you get your cut man.
I'm very glad you answered my question before I chance to ask it, which was "how do those cutoffs taste?" Lol. Love your videos, very inspiring and informative and entertaining all at the same time.
I got so inspired, I built just the back. And the shelves, they lean against the back and are not going anywhere. They don’t suppot anyrhing either but I saved so much money because didn’t buy the fancy plastic thingy. Thanks!
We have a 1980’s contemporary home and I’m building furniture for it - your site will come in very handy in the (hopefully) near future... I’m finishing up Euro-style kitchen cabinets (if I ever get done) and will download your plans for the table and hutch! Can’t wait to start! Do you always use hard wood or are some made from plywood (like a nice domestic walnut ply)...?
Awesome build! Question, at 1:25 you jointed the edge first, then table saw, face jointed, then planer. Did you have one flat face already that you referenced when edge jointing since you did that first? Or does it not matter too much?
Very nice build! I particularly like the base design. While you pre-finished the bottom and base (smart!), I usually also pre-finish the interior surfaces too which is a tremendous time-saver for me in the end, and squeezeout in wood pores is no longer a problem. Ditto for the shelf pin holes. Wondering if you considered that and if there's a reason you opted not to do that? Thanks!
Guessing the client is you, or your wife, since you don't seem worried about throwing the word "stupid" around :) I agree, dumb to not have a back on it, but I'd never tell a client that. ;) Great build, as always. The mark of a true professional - making hard stuff look easy.
Thank you for your videos. I have dabbled in cabinet making since I retired from the military. You make it look so easy and I will be building all of our cabinets in the house we are building in Colorado. Could you give me a link to these European hinges. We really like the soft closing like the drawer hinges you recommend.
Bevel Square, Easy way to transfer angles over from anything to your tablesaw. use the bevel square to get the angle you need to get and then set your tablesaw at a bigger angle to start and just turn it back up against the bevelsquare ;). I could totally have missed the fact you already use these but i just noticed you not using it for that purpose now. Sorry to put this reaction on a old video but i've been watching the crap out of your content the last couple of days as i just "discovered" your work. Aaaaand tbh, you make me wanne quit my metalworking job and start woodworking. Greetings from Belgium
yup! Even if what you're building is not what I'm building I'm still coming to watch for the tips and tricks I learn along the way. But more importantly in life I'm here for the laughs hahaha "ya i know what I'm working with"
I used a straight 3/4" bit to dado a trial pine board using a Ryobi cordless router which is supposed to be rated for 20k to 30k rpm. That bit just chewed up the material with jagged edges and it was not as fine and straight as yours at 4:01. Even tried it on plywood. What bit did you use to achieve that clean edge on hardwood no less? What am I doing wrong?
You must have a white oak gold mine near your shop as you definitely use a lot of it. I love using white oak as well but invariably need to go back and sand out a swirl mark or two. What grit do you normally stop at when sanding white oak. I typically go to 220 but do occasionally go up to 320 on end grain for a mirror like feel and look. Love the videos and have learned a lot from you as well.
I do that stuff all the time with my chop saw and I still have all of my fingers. If you use your saw a lot and are familiar with it that is not a dangerous cut at all.
Can you discuss warping generally for cabinet doors? You talk about edge-joined solid wood, and I'm aware that cabinet doors are more often made with r&s frames and panels for dimensional stability. What are your opinions about composites for slab doors (i.e. MDF and melamine)? I love Baltic birch plywood -- is that asking for warping if I use it for a cabinet door?
Your videos are fantastic! Great job! Watching your videos have given me an interest in woodworking. Hoping to slowly start here soon and practicing! Thanks for the content!

Thank you 🙏 I hope your Forman and Boss are well 😉
I know nothing about woodworking and I have no tools and no shop but I still enjoy watching your videos.
Best woodworking channel on UA-cam. Entertaining and building quality stuff and the same time. Keep it up!

Excellent watch, terrific outcome even without a back. Regards Jim UK.
This guy makes timber look good. One day soon, your videos are going to inspire so many more photos of "look what he taught me". And you will be proud!
I allways find it amazing on these videos how one person can have so much (and expensive) tools and machines
I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would give Bourbon Moth a thumbs done unless they don’t like humor. I love this guy!
The best , by far, woodworking videos on entire YT platform!
I hope you don't wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat muttering "the back, the back"
😂😂
Hahahahahahaha

You're so skilled. Beautiful piece again. Solid craftsmanship.
I CANNOT believe you used a brush to apply the glue. Probably the craziest thing I’ve seen all year.
Craziest.
My finger wouldn’t fit in the dado. I have fat fingers 🤷🏻♂️
Love your dry sense of humour and your precision......... :) Big up from England my good man.
Stop making such great videos! I've lost endless hours of sleep watching them!
I have always tagged a scrap piece to the ends to stop splintering just don't go to the end and swap them round so easy ! I can't believe I'm so daft!!! Thank you👍
Love your demeanor. Refreshing and honest.
Bevel brewing can on the bench 8:43? Extremely jealous of your woodworking skills and beer selection in that area.
Your Kapex comes with an angle finder on the left side. That's what would make finding the angles at 11:45 a piece of cake
I LOVE the dancing silly clips! Dont you dare leave them out!
Nice! And keep the dancing footage! It’s awesome.
U R a real comedian . Love your work , keep it coming .
I think the back joinery was my favorite part.
This would make a great LP record cabinet, after making changes in depth, if needed. Thanks for this video!
I love the Bearded Man. Using humor to do Master Craftsman Woodworking is Great. I have learned so much from shortcuts and stuff I just can't say enough. If you have a Walk-in Business location I would like to visit. Thank you again The Bearded Man.........
Turned out very well there keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend keep making

Def bringing the Dale Doback vibe. Close your eyes and listen to the intro again. You're welcome.
Yes!yes, very inspired! Man, you have some very cool tool's. No, no I don't think I'll attempt that anytime soon!! But I have it saved, hope I can attempt before I am 70??!!
Seems like round-over oak is having a moment again. But that 80's stuff never looked this good... nice work as always, mane

The less back it has the more stuff you can put in. :-D
Nice work and great finish.
Beautiful work. I love your videos. Not dry but energetic and keeps my engaged. Thanks

Got my hat yesterday! Super nice 👌!
I like how you address the "SAPs" (self appointed police) in your videos...Love watching your channel.
Excellent work. Nice to watch, entertaining, enjoyable.
That piece is a thing of absolute beauty.
Thank you for spelling it out. Some just spout off industry speak. Very informative.
I think i’m developing a case of mancrush. These videos are not only highly educational and encouraging, but also entertaining.
I got so inspired, I built just the back. And the shelves, they lean against the back and are not going anywhere. They don’t suppot anyrhing either but I saved so much money because didn’t buy the fancy plastic thingy. Thanks!

Great design mate, looks awesome! regards from Perth, Australia
Another great video. Your style of sharing information is perfect for my ADHD. I honestly have learned so much from your videos. Thank you.
Excellent product/project and presentation!
Awesome build! Question, at 1:25 you jointed the edge first, then table saw, face jointed, then planer. Did you have one flat face already that you referenced when edge jointing since you did that first? Or does it not matter too much?
It doesn’t matter too much as long as the board isn’t crazy wonky.
Absolutely killer project! Keep up the amazing work!!!
Great project my friend. I love that you infuse humor in your video. I always learn something from you, Jason!
Thanks for Sharing And Teaching, Felix
I like that flipping-the-panel routing trick!!! Science lmao
Very nice build! I particularly like the base design. Great video. Beautiful backless hutch. Mahalo for sharing!🐵
Another great build. Don't know why they didn't want a back weird. But the customer is always right. Right? 😆 🤣 but keep up the great work.
Thank you for your videos. I have dabbled in cabinet making since I retired from the military. After putting the playing cards around the doors to center them, how would you have drilled for the hinges if the client had wanted a back?
yup! Even if what you're building is not what I'm building I'm still coming to watch for the tips and tricks I learn along the way. But more importantly in life I'm here for the laughs hahaha "ya i know what I'm working with"
looks really good i hope i get as good as you before i get to old
Your dancing clips make the watch through worth every sec
Out of curiosity have you seen Ramon Valdez's domino dock for doing small parts? It would make those small part plunges easier.
Beautiful work as always. Keep 'em coming!
Rubio 5% white is my favorite on White Oak - give it a try! draws out the grain but leaves the rest of the wood a bit darker, without yellowing.
I used a straight 3/4" bit to dado a trial pine board using a Ryobi cordless router which is supposed to be rated for 20k to 30k rpm. 3:00 A dado is defined as a stopped rabbet. A blind dado therefore is just a dado.
Absolute legend. I am in awe of your skillz!
Really enjoy your videos! You're the Babish of the woodworking world. 👍
Your personality is refreshing, awesome!
men your videos are very interesting I love carpentry and i feel I am picking up details here and there, thanks
thank you for the videos on your videos I'm learning carpentry the coolest videos.
Try Kregs hinge jig. Youll love it.
I actually hate it. It takes longer in my opinion
Bourbon Moth Woodworking oh ok lol well i love your videos anyway. Needs more dancing tho haha
I do that stuff all the time with my chop saw and I still have all of my fingers. If you use your saw a lot and are familiar with it that is not a dangerous cut at all.
Very cool piece. Nicely done Bud. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Bourbon can you make a video on your preferred method of applying Rubio monocoat from start to finish? Cheers
And I think that’s my new nickname for you 😬
Reminds me of the Ishitani furniture builds but simpler and more achievable.
Love the inclusion of Kieth Johnson’s signature track lol
Can you discuss warping generally for cabinet doors?

Bedankt voor de informatie 👍weer een top job geweldig 🤩🤩Groetjes uit Holland 👋🏼👋🏼
After several videos, I’ve concluded this is what “Archer Does Woodworking” looks like.
Your videos are fantastic! Great job! Watching your videos have given me an interest in woodworking. Hoping to slowly start here soon and practicing! Thanks for the content!
What are the dimensions? I don't see them on your website. Great build!
Another great video, thanks mate. You explain things so clearly it gives me confidence to try making things.
Beautiful. Nice work.
How do you install the door hinges when there is a back? I'm still trying to figure out how you get the location just right.
Not having a back makes this great for electronics though. It would make wiring easy and ventilation easy. It's actually pretty smart.
Beautiful piece, thank you for sharing.
