Great video and really nicely done. A small pair of questions for you... what type of blade did you use on your multi tool to cut the trim? And how did you protect the wood floor when you got close to the bottom of the trim? Many thx!
I think that 50% of the reason I enjoy your videos is your sense of humor and that you don't take yourself too seriously. The there's the fact that you thoroughly explain stuff and are quite talented at DIY and videography. :)
After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!
Here are a couple trivial painting tips.. 1) use a canvas drop cloth in your kill room. This will keep the paint that falls on the floor from sticking to your feet, and getting tracked into your shop. You can get them in many sizes at Home Depot perfect for the kill room dimensions. Then open the plastic walls all the way so they drape onto the floor in the kill room. Place your drop cloth on top. This will protect against any spills that would penetrate the drop cloth. Added bonus this method is cheaper and faster than the paper method. If you’re going to keep making these rooms :/ 2) Have you tried a red sharpie for numbering your drawers? Not sure about you finish but so many paint finishes (if not stain blocking) red sharpie bleeds right thru. Again this is just a trivial item that feels better for my painters mind rather than tearing off the blue tape and all the finish... even though its hidden forever behind the drawer face. *takes a breath* old habits die hard. Thank you for making such fun videos!
Harbor freight sells canvas drop cloths cheap. You can get 4x12 on sale all the time for 5.99. or the 4x15 for 10$. I also love those blue paper drop cloths. They have a thin rubber like coating that grips to the floor really well and also prevents bleed through. They last for a really long time, they fold up to almost nothing and best of all they're like 7$ on amazon. I prefer the 4x15 ones though. The larger format ones are just the 4 ft ones glued together and they always start to come apart pretty quick. They also hold blue tape extremely well for covering larger areas. But sometimes the weight of the canvas is just better.
i bought a 6x6 pop up canopy for my small garage…its perfect..makes hanging drop sheets easy..goes away nice and easy…a 10 x 10 would be perfect for your shop
If your other videos didn't already tip me off, I'm now realizing that I don't have it in me to have this level of mastery. Your attention to detail in putting everything together first, taking it all apart, putting it back together, and all the tedious little steps to make it turn out just right - I'm just not patient enough, and my brain only has a "forward" button. Still, inspiring stuff, and learning a ton!
I love this channel so much. All the popular DIY shows make this kind of stuff look like it happens in two seconds, but you really start to understand how much work goes into these projects when you follow along and realize how many steps are required to get professional results. The cabinet looks amazing. Thanks for showing us every step along the way (except the quarter-round installation 😂). I love the cabinet hardware your wife chose. It ties in perfectly. Would love to see this filled with all your stuff too.
Can I just say that you are the Bob Ross of cabinet making. You make this look so easy and your commentary is so relaxing. Love your videos and channel. Learned some new tricks and super excited to try them on my next build. 😁
Love people that have their children in the shop it shows and teaches them awesome work ethic and you never know they may invent a better way patente it become billionaires and take care of you in your old age 😀
On your next paint project consider using Hydrolac primer from Sherwin Williams. I use it all the time and is perfect for these kind of applications. Its water based, yet dries fast like if it were lacquer primer. Since it dries fast the grain in the wood dont rise as much so it makes sanding was easier. It also sands smooth like true lacquer primer. That primer and the Emerald Urethane are a perfect combination for a project like this. Great vid!
17:50 I am blown away! This is really a first in the history of cabinet building! Also 22:00 the word you were looking for is seamless! Sorry just had to say it. Love your work!
I love how informative your videos are, and I'm learning so much. But my favorite part of the video is the "care package" you left for the next owner who finds that whole in the wall!
I built a mud room on my old house and we left a note too. Carl missed a great opportunity in taking it to the next level. Funny enough, the guy who helped me with my mud room was named Carl. Our note was less bland though.
This has been an excellent series! Even knowing (most) these things myself I still enjoy your humor and have learned a few things from you methods. Great work and great channel!
Just one suggestion. I use auto body bondo to fill cracks. still 2 parts but much easier to apply with a plastic applicator or an old credit card and less left over to sand. I also like to use a bit of flowtrol in the paint to allow it to level out . My 2 cents. Nice work!!
So I painted all of my kitchen cabinets when we built them and I didn’t not have a good sprayer or a place to spray them. I tried the foam rollers and found them to be pretty terrible, and the back brushing is a lot of extra work. The absolute best method I found is using the Wooster 3/8” (or shorter) micro plush microfiber roller. It’s also a mini roller cover like the foam ones, but particularly if you get a paint that has good leveling, the micro plush leaves no lint and leave an incredibly smooth ALMOST sprayed look.
Love your humor and especially the dancing. My neighbors probably think I'm bat crap crazy if they watch me at all through my shop garage door. Sometimes I just can't help doing a celebration dance when something unexpectedly perfect happens, I'll take lucky over good any day. Love the content, keep up the good work. 💪🏻👍🏻🤙🏻
Boom! Indeed... that looks so nice, great job! And let the wife pick the hardware, you are a very wise man... and she's got good taste because it just makes that cabinet sing! I'm sure you'll get a lot of enjoyment from your eloquentized living room 😁👍
As usual, entertaining and informative. I use 1 additional step to painting that seems to help prevent the grain from raising: start by first spraying a coat of wax free shellac diluted with denatured alcohol (50/50). Dries quickly and seals the raw wood to help prevent grain from rising. Still have to sand your primer layer. Thanks for the great content, much appreciated.
Absolutely beautiful results. The drawer pulls and latches are stellar. You are a terrific maker, patient, and a great person for producing this tutorial two-part series. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the great detailed video. Your work is awesome. People do not realize the time it takes to build and finish something like this correctly.
Excellent paint choice. Emerald is probably the best paint that you can get from a local store without ordering something special. Also don’t be afraid to adjust your fan width on the sprayer. This will make it easier to spray the edges of everything while eliminating some overspray. You also want to spray the sides first but for a woodworker you did a great job with the finish.
The top latches are amazing, they look like reproductions of the ones they used on the built-ins in Arts and Crafts style homes. Amazing build, man. I love this so much, if you ever sell the home, all of these quality custom built in storage solutions and cabinets are going to be a huge selling feature.
You are one smooth sailing modest showman/carpenter/painter/builder professor. You do know what you are doing man and I enjoy watching this series. I have tackle a lot of finish carpentry work in my house, but I have never had the courage of making cabinets because I am afraid of you know what (square). I will watch all of your series, because I noticed that you have a lot of tricks that can make my fear a little less. Once I am done watching, I'll start with one small boxy cabinet using whatever I can gather from your videos. If it does not turn out right I can just throw it overboard, if it turned out right then I can go on building more. Sorry for my rambling, got to get to the videos.
Now I have a winter project to prep for this coming late Fall early winter. Except my space is 15 ft wide and I want to go 24 deep and add book shelves on both ends with the TV in the center. Basement entertainment center, game, movie and book storage. Great set of videos! I learned a lot. Thanks!
Dude, your voiceover is so calm and easy but your out of your mind!!! haha. All of your videos are entertaining and informative. I have a really hard time with drawers and hinges and you make it def easier. It's amazing that you taught yourself all of this. Keep up the great work, I've told tons of people to hit your channel up, they all come back to me having nothing but great things to say. God Bless, stay safe.
I love watching your videos.I use that same q5 turbine. I thin my paint down with reducer. But I definitely learned something. I've never used my turbine on latex but I have very large area to paint I'm gonna try it.
What an amazing build. It looks like it was always meant to be there. Seamless. I can't fricking wait until I own my own place so I can come back, watch all your videos again and this time actually build some furniture. So exciting.
Great and beautiful built in cabinet. I hope when I'm in heaven that I get to see the reaction of the person that finds your surprise package in the wall. Thanks for a fun video !!
Absolutely beautiful... I'm talking about the hardware of course. The builtins don't look bad either 😊. I was a little disappointed with 29:15 but I'll learn to live it.
Too nice for paint! I would have stained. You could have white washed and still seen the gain. Unit very nicely built and detailed instructions were great!
Nice build! I enjoy watching your videos and need to build something else for our tv area. I turned an old wooden dresser into an entertainment stand. We have outgrown it and need something to suit us better. Thanx again for another great video!
I've been a fan for a long time. I appreciate your contribution to the community. This project had so many helpful tips and instructions. The end result is a beautiful built in!
Now make a Recessed Box behind the tv That has a Swingout and Pivot Arm so you can pull the TV out some, because as close as the cabinet is the TV line of sight will be blocked a Bit if any where close to it. also a good place to add back Lighting.
You might wanna check out Sherwin Williams Kem-Aqua line. You will need to use a "business" account. It's a water based lacquer, of all things. It is amazing. Very hard. I just sprayed all my upstairs trim, doors, cabinets, and banister, with it. It will crackle a bit over caulk, but can be touched up with a foam brush. Crazy durable stuff. The cleanup isn't as smooth as most other water based paints. But, a but of denatured alcohol, etc will remove the fine traces in gun. Not very brushable (thin). I used some spilled paint in a lint free rag to saturate some MDF shelves. They came out slick.
Something i learnt from a pro painter was to take the smallest screwdriver you have and dig a tiny hole on a hidden place on the canvas your doing. Ex: one hole1 , 2 holes for No2 and so on. Hope this helps
I'm so glad I found these videos! I have exactly the same situation where I want to build a built-in counter looking wardrobe - Thank you for the show & jokes

Jason man you should link your Podcast in the description as well. Love your work and your son is adorable.
Do you make plans for your projects? I would buy this one.
Edit: I see that you some on the website. This one would be a great addition.

A true craftsman
Your son is a real character. Love him.
The Bob Ross of woodworking, he has the same calm voice! Gorgeous and great instructions, I hope my husband and I don't botch this up!
i bought a 6x6 pop up canopy for my small garage…its perfect..makes hanging drop sheets easy..goes away nice and easy…a 10 x 10 would be perfect for your shop
Again, you have outdone yourself. White color looks much better than just a bare wood look.

"Liars sleep forever" was the championship move tho

I saw this comment before getting to that part of the video and just thought you were using the British slang term ahha
This has been an excellent series! Even knowing (most) these things myself I still enjoy your humor and have learned a few things from you methods. Great work and great channel!
Anyone else notice how you sounded like Bob Ross when painting the top? A hair and some air 🌞. Beautifully done Sir

Liked the comedic inserts 😊
I’ve been seeing this channel lurking around in my feed but never clicked on it, now I’m hooked on this guy. I’ll be back. Good stuff!

"Boom indeed" compelled me to subscribe.
The word you are looking for is Eloquentonate. Very nice work.
Absolutely beautiful results. The drawer pulls and latches are stellar. You are a terrific maker, patient, and a great person for producing this tutorial two-part series. Thank you so much!
I paint in my garage sometimes when its bad weather outside. I bought a paint shelter that's basically a big camping tent. you should check that out!
Thank you for the great detailed video. Your work is awesome. People do not realize the time it takes to build and finish something like this correctly.

Just about to build my wife her walking in closet. Thank God I watched your video first!!! Thanks a million
Try using Flotrol to thin/cut your paint. Virtually eliminates brush marks. I believe it works for spray as well

Turned out really nice. I love the vintage looking turn style knobs your wife picked. 😊
It's amazing how much work this is if you do it right. Beautiful cabinet!
It's a lot of work to do it even "good enough", let alone, properly, haha
Now I have a winter project to prep for this coming late Fall early winter. Except my space is 15 ft wide and I want to go 24 deep and add book shelves on both ends with the TV in the center. Basement entertainment center, game, movie and book storage. Great set of videos! I learned a lot. Thanks!
Great video. Measuring tips were spot on! That bag of stuff in the wall Properly funny! 😅
Cheers from London England 👍😎🏴
The time capsule, brilliant.....bloody brilliant!
Great job on the cabinet and the video/editing. High quality all the way around. You deserve all 500+k views.
Dude, your voiceover is so calm and easy but your out of your mind!!! haha. All of your videos are entertaining and informative. looks awesome and now that my wife has seen it ... i have another project on my list....
I see how you many views, your work is 100% Grade A quality. You build things we all want to build.
I love your videos! You're like, the Bob Ross of woodworking! Love your happy cabinets :)
I love watching your videos.I use that same q5 turbine. I thin my paint down with reducer. But I definitely learned something. I've never used my turbine on latex but I have very large area to paint I'm gonna try it.

Your work is amazing. I am new to your channel, but I love it. Thank you, I now have to BINGE-WATCH all your other videos. Awesome work, my friend.
Te quedo SUPER Bonito tu proyecto!! Felicidades
Stunning job and your wife picked very well with the hardware. Love it 👍
Love those GRK trim head screws. They even work great for window trim and door installs too.
You can use Bennet Super Flock Foam Roller to touch up sprayed area. It blends in so nicely that it's very hard to tell the difference.
The hardware choices on this build are absolutely perfect 👌
LOL
Get a large tent that is easy to assemble for painting. You can even hook up ventilation to it.
Very nice installation, well done...I have six Blum bottom mount drawer slides, now that you have convinced me, for a dresser project...
Wow, I love that built-in. Wish there were craftsmen here in the state that I live in.
Great and beautiful built in cabinet. I hope when I'm in heaven that I get to see the reaction of the person that finds your surprise package in the wall. Thanks for a fun video !!
geez wow is all i can say. i just watch this and dream of being able to build something someday
Omg... I ❤️❤️❤️ this.. I can't believe how much I learned watching this video.. it was great.. ty for sharing.
when sanding paint im a big fan of them sponge sanding pads there more comfortable and there super cheap and do a great job
i thought Bob Ross is explaining the painting.... a real nice cabinet..well done...greetings from germany
Absolutely beautiful... I'm talking about the hardware of course. The builtins don't look bad either 😊.
I was a little disappointed with 29:15 but I'll learn to live it.
It came out AWESOME! I learned the hard way with my first house that the wall is normally curvy/bowed 😂
I recommend you try sherwin Williams pro- classic paint. Amazing paint if you are brushing or rolling. Dries like glass
Spray paint on the inside of the doors first, less chance of seeing the stand offs in the paint. Since it’s on the inside of the cabinet.
WOW .. that was awesome .. !! I don't even do carpentry / cabinet making but watching that made want to work with wood. Amazing dude
Good product and appears well made. Easy to use.
Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.
Too nice for paint! I would have stained. You could have white washed and still seen the gain. Unit very nicely built and detailed instructions were great!

That is a fantastic cabinet you should be so pleased with yourself
Hey Bourbon Moth. I forwarded your video to my brother, who works for Mohawk finishing products. I hope you get a sponsor! 🤘🏻
I've been a fan for a long time. I appreciate your contribution to the community. This project had so many helpful tips and instructions. The end result is a beautiful built in!
Very nice looking and straight forward built-in project. I like it.
Now make a Recessed Box behind the tv That has a Swingout and Pivot Arm so you can pull the TV out some, because as close as the cabinet is the TV line of sight will be blocked a Bit if any where close to it. also a good place to add back Lighting.
DUDE, YOU ARE VERY TALENTED IN both, WOOD WORKING AND MAKING VIDEOS!!! 🙏🏻. Many thx!
26:55 - "Nith and smooth"! Love it Jason! GREAT WORK DUDE!
you really are doing amazing stuffs. Thanks for showing us every step. I get to learn alot as I thing of making cabinets for my home.

WAY TO GO CARL!!! Straight & Square WALLS!!!. Credit were credit is due.
The celebratory “boom” at the end, was the perfect cherry on top 😂.
It turned out REALLY beautiful!!!
Even if I wasn't trying to build cabinets, following you like a apostle, I would watch you for your corny humour!!! Keep it coming fearless leader!
The finished piece is really beautiful!
hi im already subscribed I am a carpenter from the uk and would just like to say that you are the most entertaining guy doing carpentry on U Tube keep it up
Very nice cabinet build and great instruction to go along with it.
I just want to say that I really like your channel and your videos
Thank you for sharing
Awesome as usual. Your on my list of favorite builders. Videos are great
Oh and link the drawer and door hardware. This cabinet pulls are 🙌
First Ive seen of the roller then brush technique, thank you.
Beautiful cabinets. Excellent demonstration.
The “Seed” product is quality. You look like a million bucks. Noom agrees with you.
