Dude. Saved me $160. Had a zone that wouldn’t come on. I changed the solenoid, no bueno. Was told by a irrigation guy to replace the entire valve, wasn’t looking forward to cutting that valve out and replacing it. Went to HD and bought a $6 diaphragm, installed it and low and behold… THE ZONE IS WORKING! Thank you Sir. KLMSR
Thanks for the info and the feedback.
I did exactly what you did in this video and it did the trick!! Thank you Sir for the video!!
Your video was very clear and informative. It will definitely save me time and money.

Thanks Ron for the feedback.
Ah, another repair done on my new home. Thanks for a bit of relief good sir.
Great video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you for explaining the wire hook-up. Other videos skip over that.
Thanks Sandra for watching.
i just had to replace a solenoid today..went perfect..then went to test the system..zone 5 never cut off even when control box was unplugged..i said hmmmmm...so went back to solenoid and turn it off...bam...everything works perfect..and now i just came across this video while searching why i had that problem..
I;ve watched your videos...thanks. Everyone kept saying my pressure was too low or I had a leak in the pipes. Changes the diaphragm and am getting more than adequate pressure. 2 problems still. Leaking from the valve when off and now the solenoid won't come on automatically. Have to turn 'more' than 1/4 for manual operation.???? Will try changing the whole body like you did...but noticed the valve now has a flow control knob where I won't have to turn the solenoid. It is okay splice into the common wire though, because the wire nut I have (similar to yours) will be difficult to fit all five wires.
You sir saved my day.
👍 you’re amazing thanks 🙏
Thanks..very good information
Thanks Rich for watching.
Great video Helped me to solve my problem
Helpful. Thanks
Thanks for watching.
nice video as always.
Thanks for the feedback.
Totally saved me from calling a landscaper. Mahalo!
Hi Rodrigo. My Spanish isn't very good but it sounds like you want to fill a water tank from a well and have the well shut off automatically when the tank is full. I would eliminate the PGV-101G valve and use a float switch that would turn the well pump off when the water storage tank is full and on when the water level drops in the tank. Here are a couple links that might be helpful:

what if you have a well pump! the well pump is not working, I don't hear the solenoid humming...What do you do in this case. I understand if you want to replace the solenoid and you have city water, you can just turn the water off.
Curious about the bronze filter looking devices at 0.32 minutes. I presume they are the primary line filters but would appreciate a suggested video to clean them.
I think you mean the backflow preventer.
@@Iscaper Thanks!!! I actually decided to look inside one and had determined that, today! Your vids are awesome!! I learned the hard way, today, to NOT use an impact driver to tighten the screws on my zone valve...now I get to replace the whole valve body instead of just the top...
@@guyrogers3410 Ouch! Did you crack the valve body?
@@Iscaper Oh yes... I'm 71 and often RELEARN the simple truth to use the proper tool for the job. Plastic parts are not particularly resistant to high torque. My DeWalt drill has a very nifty torque limiter but the quickly available impact driver does not...
@@Iscaper BTW...what's your opinion about using a 2" PVC surround to protect the risers? I live in a centipede grass area.
I have an older hunter (square) (grey) valve with a single twist knob in the middle. I cannot find that exact one anywhere. I am finding other square valves with the same twist knob and an additional smaller knob. My question is will the top half fit my existing valve so I dont have to dig it out. Wish I could post pictures. Sorry.
I just had the same problem with an older Hunter valve. I was able to get a get parts to replace the top half of the valve. Your valve should have a model number on the top part of the valve. With the model number call a Hunter distributor or sprinkler supply store to see if they carry parts to repair the valve.
@@Iscaper went to the local hardware store they had the whole valve and solenoid together for $17 replaced the top rewired it and boom. Working good since thanks for the video
Looking for a link to purchase the full valve like you have here
It looks like Hunter has discontinued the SRV valve, I can't find it anywhere online.
@@Iscaper The new PGV valve diaphragm and top will fit the old SRV valve but it is better to use the old original screws.
I am working for tje first time with a sprinkler valve keeps running water what can I do to stop the valve running water is making the other sprinklers run a little of water
Cesar Velasquez
First check that the solenoid is in the off position. If it is then you might have a bad solenoid, trash or rocks in the valve that keeps it from shutting off, or a bad diaphragm.
Hi Kerry I Have A Question Must Have Watched all.your Video On Iragtion AND I Learn Something From Each 1 But I Wanted 2 Know Y U don't do . anything on sprinkler pumps u and your family have a good 4th of July stay safe
Hi John. I haven't had a request to install a pump for a while, but I'll be sure to make a video on the next sprinkler pump installation.
well I tried to fix a valve by removing it and now I have all four valve not working and my first valve that has the first problem sipping water still
What if you turn the valve on and no water is coming out? Can it get stuck shut? Theres power water going to the valve but no water going to the heads by manual turn on or by timer turn on
You should be able to turn the solenoid on the valve a 1/4 turn counter clockwise and have that sprinkler zone start up. If that doesn't work check if your water is on, or try opening other valves in the manifold to see if they work. If other valves will open then I would change out the top half of the problem valve.
Filter supposed to be in front of the valve not after.
I replaced a diaphragm on my Hunter SRV 1" Valve due to the fact it was leaking. I installed a new solenoid as well. I removed the old diaphragm which was distorted with a new one and all was fine until the next morning when I woke up and the zone where I replaced the diaphragm was running wide open (all sprinkler heads) with the sprinkler system shut off (unplugged). Any ideas?
You may have to pull the top half off again and check for debris or if the diaphragm you put in is damaged. Be sure to open and close the valve a few times to make sure it is operating properly.
@@Iscaper Thanks!
Se puede conectar un flotador a una electrovalvula directamente
Zone 1 bubbles up at the heads for few seconds each time I run a diff zone... any ideas why?
Some valves are slow to shut off. If zone 1 keeps seeping there is probably debris in the valve.
iScaper1 AZ Irrigation & Maintenance all I ended up needing to do was turn the flow control knob on Zone 1 valve to the right some...which limits the flow & increases pressure. Weird, but hey it worked.. now that zone heads don’t spray when running other zones!
I have same looking valve, do you have the part number,I can order to replace my valve? thanks

Kerry what valves do you like hunter or rainbird
I like Rainbird. My favorite valve is the 100DVF.
iScaper1 I personally like the 100dv. Same basic valve but without the flow control. My contractors that I sell to also agree. Mainly because the flow control can break and wear out over time especially in our dry climate. Both great valves. You guys should also try out the weathermatic valves as well. Nice body style.
Se puede conectar un flotador a una electrovalvula directamente a 220 eso me preguntaron no creo porque solo en 24 vac q opinas
I'm thinking most float switches here in the US would be 110 or 220 volt. I've never seen a float switch that works with a sprinkler valve.
Have a question sir....I have an old SRV hunter valve and replaced the solenoid and diaphragm but I noticed your video had a white extra ring where my valve didn’t? Is that normal🤔 I checked a few other videos from other people and some had them too
Some sprinkler valves have the seal ring and some don't. I think it must be based on the valve model and when it was manufactured. Does your valve work without the ring?
iScaper1 good evening yes it did for about 2-1/2 weeks before zone 3 got stuck and woke up to water everywhere in the yard. I took everything apart and put everything back together and as soon as the water was turned on by the valve water continued to run out the sprinkler head....like half pressure. I opened the solenoid valve and it seems to be working properly. I checked the orbit station 4 today, readings were good. So I’m thinking it could be the whole valve possibly🤔
@@mickbrown815 I think you're right.
very helpful, do you like hunter valves? please subscribe thank you.

I like Rain Bird valves.
Sped through it too fast.
