  • In this DIY video I will show you how to make use of a Power Bank as a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for your Wi-Fi routers or Security Cameras. Any commercially available Power bank cannot be used as a UPS even though it has the pass through charging function. This is because when the Power bank switches from its batteries to the input, the output is interrupted momentarily, forcing the load to reset.
    I have finally found the Power Bank with a large capacity that can be used as a UPS for any 5/9/12/15/20V device. This power bank does not interrupt the output power while switching. It also has simultaneous PD/QC charging and discharging functions making it suitable for any DC load such as routers. I will show the schematic of the DIY UPS and compute the amount of backup time in this video.

    I'm looking for a uninterrupted power bank. As soon as I saw the video, I bought the same power bank. I want more videos of such uninterrupted power bank.

    Well thank you this is a very informative video please continue doing such videos I would like to buy this power bank right now but I'm worried about the quality of the powerbank I will receive because most of the people receive them when they have a little bit of problems on them this is a very good educative video👍

      Have mine for more than 2 years now. Cells became fat, broke the shell, capacity is a bit lower than at the beginning. And now it is too expensive. Bought shargeek slim instead of buying this again

    I'm also using my YOOBAO POWERSTATION as UPS. But I'm a bit worried since UPS function was not included in the specs feature, is it safe?

      I bought it and tested it with my Synology NAS and it keeps cycling between discharging around 95% and recharging at 100%. So I don't think it is safe for prolonged use since it keeps draining and wearing off the battery during the day unfortunately.

    Good idea. Although you'll need other powerbanks for the modem and others. Why not use a true UPS instead?

      A standard UPS with 7ah won't give long backup compared to the power Bank unless you have a big battery UPS. Maintaining such a big system for just the router is not practical if it's not for the whole house. Thanks

    Nice video! I didn't knew that this power bank support ups. Do you know in what mode that power bank goes when you hold the button? The 'L' starts flashing on screen. But i dont know what that means.

    • @lukwagobrian5767
      @lukwagobrian5767 Рік тому

      That means low power current mode it's means it will power a low-powered device without switching off

    do you recommend this setup if plug-in 24/7 or just go for normal ups?

    • @DSmartLife
      @DSmartLife  3 роки тому +2

      By normal UPS you mean computer ups or the ready made 12V lithium ion powered UPS? I think the power bank setup is ok for 24/7 run since the power bank will stop charging when the battery is full and it has the bypass feature.

    Another nice vid! What spec of solar panel required if use to charge this power bank to keep the EC3 NAS Cam on?

    • @DSmartLife
      @DSmartLife  3 роки тому +1

      I would say around 50W solar panel will be enough. Ideally it should charge the 114WH power bank within 3hrs. However, you should check the consumption of the camera during day and night time sand estimate if this power bank capacity is enough. Thanks.
