There is a way you can get a K&N Filter for your 1300 My dad has got the 2008 Tourer, and one of the guys at the Yamaha dealer told us you can get a K&N by getting a hypercharger, the K&N fits in with the hypercharger as it replaces your air filter, and having a K&N plus a hypercharger, you'll have probably 5-10 overall horsepower added. That's a good jump since the bike comes stock with 76.8 horsepower and 82.3 pounds of torque, that's good for 712 pounds wet weight. Quick bikes. Nice too.
I have the same bike with cobra pipes. Sounds great but they do backfire when coasting some times. Previous owner installed them. Thanks for the video.
Did yamaha engineer this bike's engine with a spin on oil filter????? My star 1100 has an internal filter and the lower exhaust must be pulled to access the filter. Is the 950 and 1300 like this??? I hope not!
mine is 2010 1300 with KN filter but was wondering about the hypercharger? what is that and how much? also when i search out vids i notice they are for every year but NEVER for 2010. any idea why ? bought mine new--never a problem with it. were there possibly very few of my year?? were few sold because of an issue maybe?? any opinions of spark plug change mileage or especially TYPE and brand of plug? some say NGK--next person says "NGK worst plug on planet"
Just wondering... I'd like to change ONLY my air filter on my 2014 1300 for a K&N filter. Will I have to also install a fuel module if that is the only modification I make?
+Blackhawk 247 I have the K&N Air filter in mine, also the cobra 4" Slip on exhaust, and haven't had to add a commander and is running just fine. When I eventually add a full exhaust system, I'll be adding the cobra fi2000 power pro.
Didn't really feel much of a difference in power, but acceleration felt a fair bit smoother, also rev matching downshifts felt a lot smoother also, as far as engine feel goes. Mine was only recent, and probably put around 1100 miles through it, but no problems. I have had friends put one on and drill holes in the side of the filter case just behind the chrome cover, and they had to install the commander. Ride safe mate.
You say basically you have a "Power-commander", so I don't understand why you say basically. Either it is a Power-commander or it is not. Which is it? Also, what does "what not" mean. You say it sounds pretty good, but I think it sounds like a hardly davisin. Also, why are your handlebars so big? Where are your footpegs, all I see is those big flat things to rest your feet on. Do all americans do these terrible things to Japanese motorcycles?

Could you give more information (web link) on where to get the part to plug in the O2 sencor please?
Thanks
Wayne
Mine does the sputtering too, its a 09 and has the power commander and cobra pipes. I wonder if I need this 02 sensor part too.
Purchased a 2012 model, haven't found a video on coolant service or flush. Any experience with that be appreciated. Nice bike!
.. You got the power commander, no remaps needed as that is what the fuel controller is for. Just readjust it
Nice instruction on your bike, you speak of a website, can you send me the url so I can check it out?
What di you wind up doing with your stock tool set since your power commander sits where that normally goes?
I thought the Vance and Hines pipe look great and sound good
How do you get the seat off
where did you get the grips? I did a quick google for hurricane grips and all the came up were scott mx grips..

Thank you or the info. I would hate to put one on if I really didn't need one. Ride safely...
