I love my 1300. Bought it last spring as my very bike and fell in love immediately. Very comfortable very smooth ride. I will honestly never get rid of this bike unless I have to.
I took my road test on a honda twinstar 200 then bought 09 V Star 1300 for my first bike last August this will be my first full year riding it and loving it so far.
@@NicePantsLance My v-star rode way better than my HD.....my HD was heavy and you did not feel that heavyness with the V-Star...you could rock the V-star back n forth from left to right and not feel the weight like a HD.......better bike imho.....HD are cool.....the name and the history.
I just picked up a 2007 v star 1300 after selling my sport bikes and obviously no where near top end power I was honestly surprised at the low end torque and how comfortable it is
Great review , currently negotiating purchasing a 2014 Slept on a 2009 Roadstar 1600 and accidentally stumbled on a 1300 review. Great bikes , i own a Stryker and 2018 650 im looking at selling to pay for this Already has hard bags and cobra pipes - which sound fantastic Cant wait
I have a 2014 1300 Deluxe. I love the bike and have no problems with it. If you do any updates to it. The one thing you should do to it is get the ECU flashed. It's a change like night and day. The flash really wakes the bike up.
I think it is a great bike. I got mine with just over 60k. And still goin strong. Don't know much about sport bikes so I don't know whether to say it's a good trade or not.
That ride is a beauty! Mine is a 2009 Tourer and runs like a charm! What I would like to see better, is the handle bar being kinda far to reach, also the floor board might work a bit forward, nothing that can not be easily fixed with aftermarket parts.
@@NicePantsLance End of the season 2 on this bike and I still like it (my first bike). In the meantime I have done some minor updates. Changed the stock bars for some HD 12" bars (perfect handles position now) and added a crash-bar, I've also tried some floorboard attached highway pegs, but I didn't like them that much, so now I'm thinking about some extensions (6 inches most likely, I'm 6ft3). Also I don't like sliding on the seat, so a small rider backrest might fix that issue. Sound-wise, I think that Cobra slip-ons might work just right.
yo man do you think a 1300 is too big for a first bike... i saw a 950 in person and fell in love. lots of good reviews for both the 950 and 1300, should i just go for the 1300?
My first cruiser is my present bike, a 2009 VStar 1300. I’m 49, 6’2” about 230 lbs. I would not want a smaller bike. I grew up on a dirt bike, never had a street bike until now. I just purchased my VStar this year. I love it. I haven’t been in a bike in 30+ years, but I took off on this beast the day I bought it like I’d never been away from them. Just like he said in the video, lots of power, comfy ride, very stable.....just don’t let it drop (like I did in my front yard🤦♂️) or you’ll feel every one of those 670 lbs.
@@DelpFan2008 thank you very much for the feedback. Awesome man. I share a similar story, although im 26, I grew up riding my friends dirt bikes.. now i want a motorcycle and a cruiser. im 5'9'' 188 pounds. Im either getting the 950 or the 1300 definitely. Its an excellent price point and like i said in my first comment the reviews look amazing. So you say just go for the 1300?? Why not i guess..
@@NicePantsLance awesome great to freaking hear. IM stoked to get my first bike. People have told be start on a 450-500 and work your way up.. Im not nervous about the size of the engine i just want to make sure that 1300 isnt ridiculous for a first bike... the council has spoken im going for a 1300
As long as you're light on the wrist and practice throttle control, then you should be fine with any size motor! If it means anything to ya, my friends told me to start small too. My first bike was a Honda Shadow 750cc and I got sick of it in a few months. Immediately upgraded to a 2018 Rocket 3 2300cc with no issue 😁 enjoy your 1300! Cheers 🍺
Got my 2015 from my brother for 4,000$. Low miles, yes it does like to go straight. Hate low speed turns, have to pull in clutch on occasion. Great cruiser though.
Actually, if you're using offset steering and powering through, the big squishy suspension pets the tires bunch up together and you can pull some ASTOUNDING low speed moves on this, floorboards be damned(or scraped to hell, 😂)! (Edit) hold on ,"HAVE TO pull in clutch"?? If you're not needing to pull the clutch, you're not seeing how well this bike can turn, JS.
The Vstar has the perfect amount of power and torque to get a full throttle launch without any wheel spin. The CVO just wanted to spin that rear tire! Then again, I've gotten much better at launching since I rode the CVO lol All in all, the CVO is the better bike in my opinion. More features, about the same comfort as the VSTAR, more power, snappy handling, etc... However, the VSTAR is the better bike for the money $$. That CVO was $20k+ when it first came out
@@NicePantsLance I thought that might have been the case with the CVO traction.I have a VStar 1300 apparently if you open the intake remap or tuner they are quite quick spin tyres easily, your mate already has exhaust done 👍
@@NicePantsLance I have a 21 heritage classic 114. I like it I do, nothing is original on my vstar thats why and its a longer chassis than the Harley. But I put ivans tune on that 1300 it made it a new beast and that motor is bulletproof
Oh wow that Heritage 114 is a sharp lookin bike. I love the 114 m8. I can see what you mean about the wheelbase though. The Vstar really is an awesome bike for a great price. Simple, powerful, and reliable 👍
Don't forget to give this video a like and subscribe 👌
People don't talk about the V Star 1300's much. It was nice to see a good hands on review. I'd choose this over the VTX since it's belt driven.
Yamaha made the best cruisers for the money in my opinion! Thanks for watching 🤘

You've got alot of balls choosing a 1300 for a first bike!! My buddy did the same thing. Congrats on owning a fantastic machine!
How is she holding up? Looking to pick one up soon
Mine has 39k miles on it and doesn't use a drop of oil. Runs like new still. Nicely put together video.
That's awesome 👍 thanks for watching and ride safe!
35k on my 2007, rode it over the Beartooth 2 times 2018 and last August. Runs like a champ 🏆
Wow! Quite the wide power curve on that beast! Although, starting a test drive at a cemetary is pushing your luck me Boyo! Lol!
I had a 1100 v-star...nicest riding bike I ever owned...rode like a magic carpet.....extremely well balanced.....wish I would have hung onto it.
Thats a good way to put it!! It rides smooth like a magic carpet. My buddy calls it a poor-mans Road King 🤣

Well said 🤘 between the two, i would choose the yamaha!
Been anxiously awaiting this video, you'd be a great salesman lol That exhaust definitely sounds excellent!!
Haha thanks man I can definitely sell people on bad ideas

Going to look at an 07 with 12k miles tomorrow. Super excited.
Also, the name “Nice Pants Lance” is awesome.
Thats exciting! Let me know if you end up buying it! Thanks lol id say your name is pretty dope too.
Half man, half monster, all bear 😁👌
I've got a 2008 vstar 1300. Its crazy that almost nothing has changed in them years. Same color and all
As the old saying goes, "Don't fix what ain't broken!" 😎 awesome bike. A shame they don't make it anymore
Im thinking of trading my cbr600rr for 08 vstar 1300 but the mileage is 56k do u think that is too high?

A fantastic first bike 👌 im sure you'll never forget it! These cruisers have a certain charm that American cruisers dont
Always wanted to move up to one of these when i had the 950 but never did...they should still make these ! And the stryker se !
Absolutely! They should keep making v-stars. I wish they still make the Stryker, Warrior, and Raider too

At 8:37 : Speed limit 30ph: Great, let's do a 0-60! Lol!
Sometimes going over the speed limit in the middle of nowhere is safer than doing legal speeds on a road or highway full of cars. Safety is #1
How can this be compared to a sportster it’s road king size
Cobra power flow and Ivan’s tune with the cobra slip on and it will be a different animal. I have a 2014 and it is fast.
Oh I bet! I was very surprised how powerful this bike is. Maybe I can convince my buddy to get the Ivan Tune this summer

Oh I believe it 👍 I've read a few guys in the forums have seen over 120 mph with their 1300's!
Actually it has a 36 degree lean angle, so it's much better than most cruisers. Just saying :)
Not with the 6" floorboard extensions on lol although I'm sure in stock configuration it would handle much better
Great bike
Yes it is! Thanks for watching
I have 1300 I thought of trading in for soft tail Heritage. What take on it
You're gonna have way more power and torque with the softail. Great bike if you want a harley 👍
Had a soft tail and I prefer the yami after having rust problems on the softail, the 1300 is far better
Love my one and better than a Harley I had
The Vstar rocks 🤘 shame Yamaha doesn't offer any nice big bore cruisers
Have you done the Ivans flash on the vstar?
Not yet, the owner isnt sure whether he wants to upgrade the bike or just get a different bike

Such a great bike at an amazing price 🤘 highly underrated motorcycle!
got my 07 1300 for $2500 and I love it.
Wow thats a steal!!
How’s the bike going? Looking to buy one. 🙏
How does this thing compare to the Vulcan 1500?
I wish I could compare but I havent ridden the Vulcan 1500 yet
Quicker and lighter than a Vulcan 1500. Gets better mileage too, around 50mpg.
What year is this? I might be getting the 2012.
This one is a 2015! You'll love it 👍
I think it is in the same style as the Harley softail not the sportster
I was mainly referring to the engine size. Sportster 1200 vs Vstar 1300.
If you go by wheelbase though you're correct it's more similar to a softail
The floor boards look like they have been moved forward
Yes they have! The owner of this bike is 6'5" with a large inseam
Is it good idea to drive this one i mean moto in seattle?
I don't see why not!
