I like watching the sky to see what type of weather you’ll been seeing.
I saw this convoy heading up route 80 in NJ. This is so cool to see the video to what I saw in person
Hey Doug, I meet your dad the other day. I was delivering a load in Columbus for Machinex and your dad was also delivring there. I help him to roll his tarp and had a nice chat with him. Cool guy! Love the video and keep up the good work!
You must be the driver for St Germaine! He told me. He appreciated the help! Thank you ✌️
Yup that was me
Another grand hour of watching your video. That wheel didn't have much left to it. Glad you caught it before it took the scenic route.
That was a crazy route . That rim had been on there for a minute or two,,,, lol.. Good job Doug and team !
Great video douglas longer trip videos are the best. Stay safe and warm
I was on the first rem train on the 29th of july! Il never forget that!
Hi Doug,
You always wonder why they don't run the ship up to Montreal. APL goes there. Definitely a darned-sight easier than rolling through PA with all those lovely, picturesque towns with all those charming low-hanging wires and low bridges. LOL. Enjoy the sunshine.
From what i understand the runs the APL ships are on make it more economical for the to come to our pier where they are offloading much more freight then just coming to Montreal to unload the train cars.
I am more confused why they dont ship them by rail. But maybe they dont want the miles or they dont have the right connectors?
@TheJttv I was told that they don’t use the same gage tracks 🤷🏼♂️
Soo cool seeing you drive thru small towns i have friends in and trying to see if i can spot them in their cars 😂😂 that area of New York is beautiful in the fall. Glad they didnt send you thru the center of Glen Falls would have been rough 😅
Another great video showing you and your crews skills in crazy narrow streets. If you haven’t already done one we missed it would be great to see a segment from the pilot car as they look after the rear steer on the trailer. I am sure it is an art in itself. Cheers from Australia.
Thanks for the idea. I’ll try to think of that for a future video! Cheers ✌️
That intersection getting onto Route 4 in Ft Edward can be a bugger. 25:44 Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video. Love to watch that giant crane in action. I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for posting!
I saw the space shuttle enterprise hauled down the middle of 5 lane highway. From Palmdale to Edward's back and forth, publicity stunt just to fix the tiles on it and get a wash it was dirty. Hundreds of people moving it, it was a huge parade at 2 miles an hour, tow trucks moving vehicles all night, set temp paper no parking signs up. Power Co to raise lines up. Workers raising stoplights up or removing them. Took em hours to re open road. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 it's pretty big up close. I'd help moving be excavators etc.
That must’ve been a sight to see! Crazy project. I got to see one of the shuttles up close in Cape Canaveral back in the 90’s!
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 thanks for reply. Worst wide loads are farmer tractors with hay cutters behind them in thick fog going 15 miles and hour, dangerous and deadly
Hey Doug !! Yepper !! Another great video !!! Your "BOSSMAN"" sure got his $$$$$ Worth out of the rim & Tire on the "JEEP"!! Have a good weekend & Thanks gain for the ride !!! 🤠😎🧐👍👍👍👍👍
At least it is a nice scenic route. Can't believe all those 40mph speed limits. Great drive.
That's pretty badass! I'm a rookie trucker. About to complete 100 hours with my trainer tomorrow. It blows my mind how precisely you guys control that monster trailer!
Hey we all started somewhere! If you want to get good in this business don’t be scared to challenge yourself! And that goes for simple things like backing!
Load and engine, especially in 😂the hills and jacking, as when the engine pulls less an automatic usually shift up, going downhill you have to shift down manually to get the rpm up for maximum engine brake performance. Thanks for another video, enjoying it.
loved the great shots of Great Escape
I grew up watching Silk Road Specialized come thru my home town hauling old beat-up subway cars on their big oversized trailers back in the early 80s. i remember the NYSP comin thru and blocking the road so the big trucks had room to turn. Stuff like that is what got me hooked on trucks and trucking. At almost 50 years old I would still give anything to get my CDL. Closest I have ever come was driving an M1A1 Abrams for the US Army lol!! You Make it look so much easier that they did back then. But trailer technology has come a long way since the early 80s!
I believe Silk Road still has a yard full of subway cars.
Thank you for your service. Even tho I’m Canadian we’re all on the same team
Right on Doug, awesome video....👍🇨🇦
Nice video very good driving have a great week
Another great video there sir! You truly have an awesome job. Thanks for sharing that with us man.
Thank you for the comment! 😊
I love your channel I wish you had another new video but I found an older one , looks very interesting, I liked the last video the frenchman that brought up the rear was quiet until he wasn't and the man in front always has a scratchy sounding radio.
I try to get new videos out at least a couples times per month. I gotta finish the journey before I can publish the video!
Keep up the great videos🎉🎉The county I live in Rt 9 runs through up to 3 lanes in each direction.
Thanks again for another great/fun video. I spent 20 years driving thru Queensbury[ Glens Falls] , Fort Edward, and Hudson Falls to get on the Northway. Just after you got on RT 9 North you met asouth bound International pulling a step deck loaded with granite monuments. First tim I have seen a company truck in a YT video.
Small world!! ✌️
Hey Douglas.....now your in my stomping grouds sort of...when u left ext 17 through Hudson Falls, Fort Edward, Dix Ave to Quaker Ave, 9 No., @ exit 21 to 87 North!
Though I live on Rt 4 in VT I stll spent many a mile on the abouve route. LOve Vids and
thay way you make it happen....to bad you could not use exit 19 or 20...Be Safe in your travels all the best to You and your fellow drivers....now go ice fishing somewhere! LOL
Haha, I’m not much for ice fishing, the scenery never changes and I don’t drink enough beer 🤣🤣🤣
I always give you guys plenty of room & much respect...you would think there would be a way to rail those cars closer to their destination...😛
Impressive as always!!! 🤩🤩
Your camera placements are cool. Your safety drivers are doing a great job too.
Hi, Doug another brilliant video. Don't know who does the music score for all the videos . They know what they are doing unlike other videos I've seen. Keep them wheels rolling.
Thank you for the feedback! I edit these videos 100% myself including the music. I know the music appeals to some but not everyone. I try to have a balance between music and raw truck noise. Hard to please everyone!
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 I know what you mean.
Great video. I live in the lake George area, so I new all the routes that you were taking. Excellent job
Small world! ✌️
Great job bringing that train car thru fort Edward and Hudson Falls, two small villages with tight streets. Nice turn at 4&32, you pass within 1 of where i live when you passed the john deere dealer on 32. We ship a few large loads like that out of weld fabrication that i work for. Keep the videos coming i enjoy them.
Small world! ✌️
HI DOUG. ANOTHER GREAT JOB 👍 👌 I AM GLAD THAT YOU TOLD US THE NAME OF THE TOWN THAT YOU WERE GOING THROUGH..YOU SHOULD DO THAT MORE OFTEN 😉...BY THE WAY THANKS FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS THE LAST TIME ABOUT THE ROUT YOU TRAVEL GOING BACK TO MONTREAL 🎉😊...
I haul oversize myself and I tip my cap to you sir, I have a hard enough time worrying about what is needed to concentrate on while I have escorts and I only speak one language! Having to speak to different escorts in different languages would add another element! I’m just starting out doing heavy haul so I’m not at the level you are yet, but I really appreciate your videos when I’m waiting for weather or loads! Your buddy from Saskatchewan 👍✌️
Thanks for watching! Safe travels and maybe see you on the road somewhere ✌️✌️✌️
yeah, don't mess with the weather. take some much needed rest.
Hi Doug it’s a shame you can’t go down to Ganesvoordt to Scott’s truck stop and get a good meal 😮
I’m on a diet so I got routed around 🤣. I know the place well!

Drive that way to get home…I 80 from Jersey into Pa.,..get off first exit in Pa., Marshals creek
It looks like in your run with the train car, the semi you were driving had an automatic transmission.
What kind of truck is that you are driving? International maybe? Those are known to be reliable.
I understand, I love your videos!!!
Ah we got you again Sir, good day.
Coming out of the port, what is the issue of running 287 to 87 and up the north way? That stretch up through East strousburg is no picnic. I just did the same thing to a wheel on my lowbed as you did.
I believe it is a height issue. They don’t like to give us the Thruway permit. These trains are 14’10
It's a good thing you were diesel powered, with the REM electric mode you would have been stuck multiple time during that move. ;)
🤣🤣🤣
😅 outstanding camera work ,next time put you head set on when your chaining your truck up . please
now the important thing to do is get the replacement tires back in order. and junk the bad tire.
You sure get routed thru lots of twists and turns along with alot of small towns and narrow roads, from one Doug to another, good job Doug, love watching your journeys. DDDDDOUG
Thanks Doug!
If I gotta shift to low manually I might as well shift them all, I find that I have better control over the load and eb
I still prefer a manual as well. But I am happy that I got the chance to really see the automatic for myself and make my own opinion on it.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 I read you buddy, years ago I took a trip to Alaska and it was for Cummins emission testing, and at that time those were my opinions, the engineer with methought they were great until I pointed out the flaws especially going through the mountains. Always enjoyed heavy haul and over dimensional, they were a challenge to secure properly and get the weights just right, anyone can steer a truck with a van and automatic. Just thinking with the icy roads and extreme cold a couple of weeks ago that the trucks in trouble were usually pulling vans. Not much planning on bad conditions. Seems they would rather be in the ditch than put a chain on. Cheers my friend.
Good job Super Mario. Question, you drive an automatic transmission that I can see. If that's the case is it something that has improve trucking understanding you carry the most heaviest and oversize loads. In your opinion! You make the past Quebecers proud who worked hard. I no my father was a lineman for bell Canada from 1944 tell 1984. Keep on trucking.
The new technology of the automatic transmissions does the job very well. That being said I still prefer a manual transmission.
I noticed you came in Pa on 80 then the next time I see you you’re on87 so what did you do run 380 to 81 to 88 to 87? If you have time please explain 🙏
Yes that is exactly how we went ( plus a few detours). They won’t give us an over height permit to just go straight up the 87 thruway so we go the long way.
Good one better than going up through Pa see you next video 😉😅
Delaware water gap never looks as impressive on camera as it does in real life and by the way you were about a mile and a half from my house when you went through that toll plaza there!
True, cameras don’t do justice. Small world! ✌️
Doug, where was the rest area you stopped at with the flat tire?
On 80 in NJ. Before the Deleware Water Gap. Just made a better video to mix up the driving scenes.
Question,do you get road rage for holding up traffic
Yes we often get people with road rage. I used to get heated about it but not any more. I try not to inconvenience people more than necessary but it is just part of my job. If they don’t understand that then I’m wasting my time trying to explain it to them!
The rim that broke, how often do things like that happen? Just a salt/rust/age thing or extra stress due to that type of load?
The rim was an age related failure. Some of this equipment isn’t new anymore. We keep up the maintenance on wear parts like tires and brakes but it can be hard to predict metal fatigue. Even structurally these trailers all have a certain life span and after the metal gets weak. Every time we drive down the road the metal is condtantly flexing and well you know what happens to a soda can if you flex it a few times. I’ve seen some pretty scary structural failures over the years.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Metal fatigue hits the ships as well, this is why a ship has a 25 year life span, after 25 years she will have the failure that will sink her.
@jaquigreenlees I never thought about ships but it makes sense!
How are you liking that auto shift, I may have missed if you had commented on it.
The automatic is doing a good job but I still prefer a manual
Another great video now that you have had the automatic do you prefer it or the manual
Thanks for keeping us entertained
The automatic is doing a good job but I still prefer manual
How did you go from I 80 west in Pa to I 87 ( NYS T-WAY)???
If I recorded the entire 2 day trip it would make for a long video 😅. We went 80 west, 380 north, 81 north, 88 east and than did some back roads around Albany to get on 87 north
You mentioned the two radios and I picked up on the French speaking guy right before you explained it but from the cab view there are 3 mics …is the other a standard trucker radio…???
Correct I have 3 radios installed and all have different frequencies. CB, VHF and UHF
Where we're they made, and why new jerseys, we have a port in montreal.
They are made in India. Big ocean going ships don’t stop at every port. They are not like FedEx or Amazon!
Questions at first? Was Dad a part of this Convoy?
Was you last truck a manual? (since you made a transmission comment.)
I'm your replay guy*
I appreciate Doug's narrative as we drive. I usually have my seatbelt on and yet I'm not always sure where we are.
@32:06 we are at Sprague Mermaid Pools, this is located on RT 4 aka Broadway (a little further north than where Doug could have done his laundry at the “Broadway Coin-Op.” We are in Ft. Edward, NY
@38:20 Durrin Inc (the short bus) is a 45-year-old, family-owned business with the company office in Argyle, NY.
@38:40 there is a stunning mansion. I don’t think it is a public home and if it is, it must s#ck having a bus stop in front. Doug said downtown Hudson Falls, NY. Please note at around @39:07 you can see the Rexall Drug store coming up on the right with their collapsible sidewalk sign suggesting flu shots et al. Please note what appears to be new construction/reno of the building to the left and it seems to be matched to those that are decaying…..decaying is a harsh word…..why don’t we try those that might be falling down……yes, that’s better.
Please remember, this short Canadian Santa is maneuvering this train-car through a historical downtown district.
What does Taylor Swift want? Well she loves Doug because he reminds her of her great-grandfather. 😎
Look @42:07....insane maneuverability!
*I'm not an officer or an employee of Douglas Shipping, Inc. I am not a representative of "Doug Goes Fishing, LLC.", nor "Douglas Explores Bora Bora" nor anything involved with Black Pearls. (He flew "Howdy" Airways which is direct to BB).
Haha I love it! I should get you to ride shotgun and play tour guide as I drive 🤣
No my dad was not present on this run.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Seriously, I'd love to ride shotgun with you. You talked more through this video than others and that's where my sometimes humorous, and historically comments are added. The viewers still want you. I know you don't rely on YT, yet the people want it. I want it because I want to enjoy it, and then get the opportunity to tease you. It's a win-win.😇
I've never commented "you never seem to have issues"....@1030......It wasn't me. Nor do I understand how a wheel could disintegrate....I'm not a handsome Canadian nor do I fish nor drive long haul trucks.
@gwgrote5 ok you’re off the hook 🤣✌️
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 phew! I was worried! lol. 🙂 thx for the continued commenting.
Another great video. The narrative is helpful. Thanks, Doug.
Did you and your escorts have to change that tire or did you get other help?
No we called out a tire service to the rest area. I usually have a spare but not the tools to change it.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Thanks.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 as a superload in NY don;t you have to have so many spares & also be able to change your tires etc. .....& also show DOT when you get inspected @ the state line ?? Used to be a definite rule did it change ??
@1947maco yes you are correct however these loads do not qualify as superload
Lucky Banana got law passed so he would have a job. He has a hunter painting too. Really, cheaper on dock or tax fees, follow the money. Or teamsters had to unload it😊😊😊😊😊😊

what kind of Auto Transmission is that?
Allison
What brand trailer is that? Transmaster maybe?
Temisko
Sounds more like an Alison trans the way it shifts more then a regular auto shift style.. like it has a torque converter..
You would be correct. Allison
What's the name of the 2nd tune playing in your video Doug, when you was traveling along the river.
I believe it is Saddle Up by Wastelander
I'd like to see the interaction at the boarder crossings.
It’s actually pretty simple and casual. They see that I cross the border weekly. They ask me where I went and if I buy anything. That’s about it!
Another YT Heavy Haul guy said he ran aluminum wheels because they didn't crack like the steel ones did.
Aluminum is more durable and less weight. Just more expensive when you need to buy for 9+ axles
👍👍👍
I am new to your channel, but how did you come up with the name “Lucky Banana”?
When I’m not driving a truck I’m usually floating in a fishing boat. Superstitious fisherman will try and tell you bananas are unlucky. Hence Lucky Banana.
I've never understood freight. It's great for your business but it perplexes me that these can't be shipped closer than New Jersey (or Baltimore where a lot of your heavy equipment seems to end up). Seems like trucking them from the Port of Quebec or Montreal would be easier unless those ports can't handle that type of load. But that also would seem odd seeing as Duluth MN get's all kinds of heavy cargo including Wind Turbine blades, towers.
The ships that go into New Jersey and Baltimore are enormous. They don’t take time to stop at every little port along the coast. They only stop at a few key distribution points. For example wind towers are usually shipped on much smaller boats and the one stop will offload the bulk of their cargo so it is worth it for them to go directly to destination.
If you want to talk about wasted money don’t even get me started on wind tower projects 🤣🤣🤣. Like you said it’s work for me and it puts food on my plate so…
What's the screen you touch at 1:08:01?
Electronic logbook
Et puis, aimes-tu ca automatique? L'as-tu essayé dans la neige?
Il fait la job mais je préfère toujours un manuel.
Never said it could , what I queried was why in the straits you hogged the centre line
Because there were more curves ahead and I know from experience if you give people half a chance they won’t let you back over when you need to. If people let trucks over when they put their turn signal on I wouldn’t need to be selfish. When I put my turn signal on I don’t just “want” to move over. I “need” to move over.
That's America for you totally self absorbed

Being a disabled long haul driver pulling a flat bed, finding a top rated escort company is almost impossible.
Sometimes working with the less reputable escorts makes you better appreciate the good ones 🤣🤣🤣
Obviously some of the viewers never saw the video of hauling the Cat 18M Grader from Arkansas to Montreal where the wheel bearing had to be replaced. Just saying....
Don't see any solar panels on any of these houses.
Les trains du REM sont plus fiables quand ils sont sur vos camions que sur leurs voies. Ça doit être du aux chauffeurs....The REM trains are more reliable when they are on your trucks, maybe it is because of the drivers...
🤣🤣🤣🤫🤫🤫
Montreal doesn't buy its rail cars from Bombardier?
I hear what you’re saying but this rail system comes from India 🤷🏼♂️
Just a warning: When I had my puppy, he would be so excited and when I'd go and open the front door for him, he had already urinated in his excitement.
For those who are fans of the Lucky Banana......open your front doors, because an adult's excitement can be messier to clean up. 😣
Why is the video only 8 minutes long..
Try to reload the video. It should be 1 hour, 8 minutes for the entire video
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 It felt like 8 minutes.. I have seen shorter videos that felt longer.
@dubious6718 🤣🤣🤣 okay I get it! Thanks 😊
Hardly qualifies as oversize so why can't he stay in his lane and let the traffic pass?
You’ve obviously never done the job so I feel like I’m wasting my time trying to explain. This truck is 135 feet long. It can’t stay in one lane around curves in the road.
Agreed but on the straights i can, you drive down the middle with out reason
@iancrane-luff1918 Like I said. Wasting my time…
I'm a bit surprised you've got the one guy that hardly speaks any English. Not to sound like a bigot or anything, but I'd rather think that passable English would be a prerequisite for the job (along with Spanish if you range that far south), since your outfit seems to operate all across North America (I'm assuming your escorts are company guys and not third-party contractors). I also thought the majority of French Canadians were fully bilingual, is that not the case? For that matter, is French that common outside Quebec? I've always been under the impression that despite having official dual national languages, only about 40% of Canadians were multilingual or spoke languages other than English, and French Canadians were a generally more of a minority outside Quebec and parts of British Columbia. Could someone enlighten me on this?
Québec culture has evolved a lot over the last few decades. There is a big difference between my generation and the older generations. The younger, new generations seem to realize the advantages of being bilingual. Unfortunately not so long ago Quebec culture was very segregated and the older generations were either English or French but the two did not mix.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Huh. I knew that historically the French Canadians had their own separate culture and had no intention of fully assimilating or melding with the collective, much like your First Nations tribes (can't say as I entirely blame them, either; they were there first, right?), but I hadn't realized they were that segregated. I thought they at least got along and communicated, maybe mixed a little here and there. Been on this planet over four decades, and I still learn something new every day. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
