Love watching this old school machinery. Dad’s first combine was a four row Oliver. I think it was a 435 model. Had that for about four years then it just got wore out. Then he got a Gleaner F four row. Had it about 17 years & it wore out. Lots of fixing, patching, & trips to the salvage yard. Last combine was a John Deere four row 4400. Had it for three years & dad retired from the farm. Thanks for the videos!
Wow, haven't seen one of these old girls running in years... I've said this on many other farming channels that run older equipment, these old machines may be old but, they're still far superior in many many ways. That 303 sounds good for her age. Thanks for sharing. Cheers :)
I love the sound of that.old gas engine roaring away. It really sounds like an aircraft engine on a Robinson R44 helicopter. And it's nice to see such a classic machine in action and that it can cutt it with the best of them even the new machines. It's really doing well for its age. Good job well done. Once again love that growl.
My dad had a 303 as his first self propelled. It didn't have a cab on it and I think the head was.13' I am sure it couldn't have handled 20' head even in the crops raised back in the early sixties when he had it. I don't know what the difference is but I know th those beans they are cutting are a big yield difference. Something is different here.
A lot has changed in lube oil and grease since then. Beans that dry you can harvest with a badminton racket and a sack tho... those would probably shell out if he honked at them.
Sounds like a gas engine old girl getting the job done that combine atleast 60 years old still picking as good as the junk they got today equipment today want last like that anymore
Sure is nice to see that old girl do her thing . How is the crop loss going out the back ? The sample looks not to bad though for the age of the unit 🤔
@@classicihfarming7691 Now that is impressive ! , I guess the new machines push through a lot more so loss is more of a concern . Slow and steady looks like the key to those old girls 😉
@loisgustafson1558 yes all of our 03 combines are hydrostatic. I posted a video of it running this same head a week ago. You can see it parked in the background when the 303 is unloading

The 303 was a good combine. My neighbour had one.
Absolutely agree older machinery is better than this new stuff

Great tool working well . Not leaving anything behind except a bit of dust . 👍🏴
I hope you post more often.
@rustyrelicsfarm2406 wish I had the content to post but when it gets cold here we aren't out doing much for farming.
My grandpa had a 303 back in the 80’s. Small farm, less than 100 acres.
That 303 is picking cleaner beans then brand new John Deere s that I've seen on other farm u tubers
Combine looks about 3-4 years old! Lot of service left yet to go!
The IH 303 Gettner done ,20 ft head is load for the old girl ,Had a IH 303 when I first started farming 10 ft head and Cab
My dad had a 303 with a gas engine on it used it for years it had no cab
Really cool!

I run 17.5 ft 820 regular and flex heads on my 715 hydro diesel. IHC book says not over 15 ft flex head but I don’t have any problem.

those had one that we completely rebuilt with a 10ft head that never ran that fast in beansmust be some really dry beans
Nice

@LooneyFarmGuy didn't lose anything out the back but a few splits here and there. Did really well for the amount of grain going through it at once.

That 20 foot header needs a 915.
@williebrown5329 it is usually on our 503 but the 303 seems to handle it. The 915 is in the bone yard.
@@classicihfarming7691that 303 is amazing! Is it spike tooth cylinder?
What size header do you normally use on that bad boy?
@kurtlikesoldmilwaukee9087 17.5'. Only other one we have.
Where's the 503, loved the videos on it! Do I hear the whine of a hydro trans? Ron

503 coudnt handle 20 foot head
@@RodgerArtmanwe usually run this 20' head on our 503. See other videos. The 303 seems to do okay.
@RodgerArtman also trying to find a 1020- 25' head for our 503.
What's the HP in that combine?
@@DaelzGG id guess about 75, it's a c263 instead of the original 221
Looks more like 15 foot
@Farmboy78 well thats why I showed the i.d. tag on the header.
My guess was 16 ft by looking at the spacing of the reel supports
