Champion and Nike Authentic and Replicas Were The Hardest Mitchell and Ness Over Saturated The Retro Jersey Market Out Of Greed and Ruined It For Real Jersey Lovers
The fall of this era was great for me. All the people who only jumped on the bandwagon unloaded all their jerseys on ebay for dirt cheap. Built my collection at a fraction of the cost.
I was little when the retro jersey faze hit the first time in the early 2000s and I loved it. I thought it was really cool that companies brought back jerseys of older players and styles that aren't being used any more. While Mitchell and Ness were expensive, Nike came out with Rewind NBA jerseys, Reebok came out with the Gridiron Classic Collection, which still has some of the most comfortable and best feelings clothing I've ever worn. The NHL came out with Reverse Retro Jerseys twice and are some of the coolest jerseys in some teams history. I personally own a bunch of throwback jerseys, almost all originals, but some of the designs are a lot better than what is out there today.
I ended up keeping all my Nike football and basketball Michigan jerseys from the 90s. Jimmy King, Chris Webber, Maurice Taylor, Louis Bullock, Charles Woodson etc.
It took me a couple decades to finally get me a Mitchell & Ness. It was definitely a status symbol in the early 2000’s. Today the throwbacks Mitchell & Ness make have a lower replica brand. Quality is different. But wearing the Pro Back is that feeling of current. The throwback is the past and we can’t always live in the past. But one thing is undeniable, throwbacks will never go out of style.
I still wear, throwback jerseys. I was never a follower. I wear them in respect to the players who I enjoy watching beside the legends like Bill Russell, Oscar Robinson, Satchel Paige, Ernie Banks, Hank Aaron; list goes on. 80's and up I got most of the players I enjoy watching. A lot of Yankees and Sonic's jerseys 😎 I got to get a Reggie Lewis S.I.P. Also, the ones that passed young: Hank Gathers, Derrick Thomas, Petrovic...🙏🏾
@@MightySportsFan2000 I will always love the baggy clothes including the jerseys. I can’t stand the tight clothes especially them jeans that dudes be wearing nowadays.
Thank you for this. I wrote a list of 100 Throwback jersey's I would of bought between 2001-2004. I just bought Walter Payton's Chicago Bears home in the last few months.
2002 i had a fine settler from plaquemines Parish LA. bought me 2 jerseys. 300$ each, in the Mall at the time in the east . It was called Maison Blanche in New Orleans. A Barry Sanders & a Chiefs Joe Montana. 21 years old me didn't realize i could have done something constructive with that money. Im a way better man than i was then and way better spender. Fire 🔥 jersey's though
I collect original Starter, Champion, Nike, Reebok, Rawlings, etc authentic jerseys. I've seen the collector space go back and forth the last 30 years.
I’m an avid hockey jersey collector (especially my team the Ducks) and I’ve got all the throwback jerseys in its original design and all! Super slick 🔥 🏒 🦆
Maaaan, I gotta whole a$$ arsenal of throwbacks from 20+ years ago. I kept them dry cleaned, ziplocked & in thick plastic Costco bins. I rock them joints with the retro kicks & fitted caps I collected over the years too !!! #THROWBACK #HEAD
I have a starter Chicago Bulls hoody from the mid 90s I got in high school. I was wearing a few months ago and someone asked me where I got that throw back haha.
Every time the Eagles play in their iconic Kelly green jerseys, I will always wear my Randall Cunningham or Reggie White jersey on those games, and whenever the Sixers play, I’m throwing on my Wilt Chamberlain, Allen Iverson, Moses Malone, or Charles Barkley jersey
Whats funny is im 24 and unlike most people my age im always told by my friends and their younger siblings this is one thing i do that makes me an “oldhead” or “Unc” wearing hats or jerseys or clothes of teams that are usually are in or have a element of throwbacks in logos, designs or colors.
My throwbacks are just jerseys that have since became throwbacks cause enough time has passed. I was going to update them when the new styles came out but decided not to.
I have Mike Schmidt, Darren Daulton, Cole Hamels, Bernie Parent, Ron Hextall, Wayne Simmonds, Max Talbot, Herm Edwards, Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb and Joel Embiid. Except for one, all of those are technically throwbacks.
never out of style my boys and i in high school were wearing them heavy (Vick, Moss etc) at 42 years old i still wear them but most of my jerseys (throwbacks/college) i frame them
I have a a long sleeve Walter Payton jersey , Kelly Green Eagles jersey. I have game size Payton Jersey, Frank Thomas Sox jersey. Blackhawks Sweater, MJ Olympic Jersey as well. My son has Deion Sanders Red Falcons jersey, a Cream color Braves jersey and Powder / Baby Blue Cardinals jersey. I’m want to buy my son long sleeve Barry Sanders jersey or Brown Padres jersey. Honestly throwbacks will always be around whether in style or not. They’ll be similar to shoes like Chuck’s, Sambas and Air Force Ones / Jordan’s. That’s just how fashion is.
Fashion trends are cyclical. It’s not a surprise throwbacks jerseys are back in style, and it won’t be a surprise when they go out of fashion again. M&N is still the most recognizable brand for throwbacks, but their quality has dropped considerably since moving production overseas. To deep dive on all the quality issues would be way too long for one post.

Throwback retro jerseys are the best and the quality is better imo cause if it's stitched it's gonna last a long time if u take care of it. Today's jerseys are made by Nike for the mlb, nfl, and nba and they use recycle materials for the polyester fabric but nike doesn't use stitching in there quality these days and fanatics actually manufactures the jerseys for Nike cause they make them in China to cut costs for Nike but Nike charges way too much for the on field or on court authentic jerseys like over 200 to 300 plus dollars when Nike also gets billions from jordan retro jordan shoes which they also charge way too much for too cause of resellers hoarding all the popular retro jordans.
@@takeflight2142 yeah it's odd I been following soccer since the 90s.. until the 2000s soccer jerseys wasn't a thing in the states, like how other sports jerseys was, even hockey jerseys in hiphop back in the day

@@HighWoody That’s the point! I don’t wear things because they’re popular or make millions of dollars. I wear things because I like them.
