Tip: when you do the resin to help stop everything sinking wait 5 minutes , so it thickens a bit, then pour.
Thank you for the tip!
You can also had a VERY small drop of clear Elmer’s glue, watch Daniel Coopers video on it may help
I can say that ventilation is definitely a necessity. I bought some resin to try and learn with. It's a low odor/low voc and I couldn't smell anything while using it, but it still stung my eyes a bit. I made sure it was in a separate space from the main areas of the house, windows open too. It was literally only 3 Oz of resin I made. So good ventilation is absolutely a must. You never know if you're sensitive to something until it happens. I'll be doing more projects but only when temperatures are good so I can keep lots of fresh air flowing.
This video was the precise breakdown that I needed! Wow! My first time doing resin and now I’m more so motivated than scared now lol. Grateful for you!
With Matte molds you can take a clear coat nail polish and put a top coat on the piece you make, or you can take resin and put a coat over top as well. That’s what works for us and our business, so you don’t have to just stay away from them, you can still use matte molds.
great idea!
They make reusable cups with measurements on them. You let the resin cure and you can squish the sides of the cup to release it and pull the cured resin right out. (For those who want something they can reuse and also that gives accurate measurements.) You can also use the plastic cups meant for paint. They can also be squeezed on the sides to release the resin. Another tip for that- leave the popsicle stick in the reusable cup and when it's cured, squeeze the sides, then pull on the popsicle stick! It will pop out with the resin attached.
Domed is when the top of the resin is rounded while in the mold. Be careful because if you use too much it will literally overflow onto the mold.
Great tips! Thanks!
.....m.m.
Also if you have a thin layer of colored resin left pour on your silicone mat and let dry or leave in your silicone cup and squish the sides and you get small piles to put in a container to use as filler for clear resin.
I am absolutely in love with resin! I bought all my supplies off of temu. Not all are the best quality but I'm a beginner so I was nervous about spending too much. I just happened to come across this video ,and I am so glad I did! Just in the 1st few minutes I learned enough that I am even more excited to start making things. I didn't know that there were different types of pigments. I've been using the opaque and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see through it.I honestly though maybe I was putting too much in it ,and I couldn't get the right balance. Now I know why.I am now subscribed to her channel and I will definitely be passing it on to family members that are trying this out with me. Can't wait to watch more.
Their is so so so much to resin I can definitely tell you are a beginner but like me instantly fell in love! A few things you didn't mention that I think is very important for those just starting to know : there are multiple types of epoxy resin and if you are using molds you will need a casting resin. TEEXPERT is a great one actually one of my favorites. Also a mask is very important when heating resin up because it lets off invisible fumes that can blister your lungs and epoxy is poisonous until fully cured. Also acrylic paint will reduce your work time anything with a binder will lessen your work time. As for using food coloring I wouldn't suggest that because anything food grade has the ability to mold. Also it can lose its color over time. Also you will want nitrite gloves 🧤 because they are made for working with chemicals. You also need 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol for clean up. Pictures also can bleed so you will want to spray them with an acrylic sealer first. You can spray your mold with alcohol before pouring in your resin to help the bubbles degas then also spray the top of the resin with alcohol to pop those bubbles or use a heat gun but never a lighter or flame 🔥 after spraying alcohol. You also want to pour part A into part B before mixing because part A is thinner and easier to mix completely. If this is something you love I would highly suggest getting the istoyo stand mixer with the AI mix option then after it's done mixing all you have to do is scrape the sides and bottoms and mix that in a few seconds until no stringy lines in the resin. I hope all this info helps you as you learn I have been doing this about a year or more now and there is so so so much to it. I had no idea how many types of resin there were! Like counter top, 4 hr, 2hr, 30 min, deep pour, art resin, polyurethane, and casting resin to name a handful! And they each have their own viscosity! And use! Also grab yourself a set of needle files it removes overpour so much easier! Much love sweetie 🥰
Ok now I’m off to spend money lol
Seriously need a tutorial on that bracelet ! I love it
Easter grass is pretty amazing in resin also. I've used it a lot for projects
This is the best video I've seen in my search of how to start. Thank you
Yes Ma'am...I Can See Everything You Show...Really Well...Thank You.🙏🏾😇🙏🏾
Well done!
You have answered every question I had.thank you.
These were some great tips and you answered some questions for me that I didn't even know I had, and I really appreciate the immeasurable amount of wasted time and poorly hidden frustration you have saved me from
Best 101 video out there. Thank you!
Best tutorial ever! Thank you.
Girl you did a great job, you help me a lot ❤
Thank you. This was a very helpful video, it really covered everything I was curious about before starting.
Loved all of the different items that you placed in the resin. Food coloring? Sprinkles? Who knew!? Mahalo for sharing!👏
Thank you for this video! Very helpful! I love the sprinkles effect :D
it's best tutorial ever i seen you tell everything very clearly and nice thank you so much 💞💞
Thank you for the tips, very helpful for a beginner like myself and also helped me be less intimidated.
most detailed video for beginners. thank. will try soon.
You have answered all my questions. Thank you im new to this art form and I'm from Cape Town South Africa
Best explanation I’ve seen- thank you so much!! 😊
Thank you for the information. Resin is new to me and i am loving it.. thank you for the tips
Very nice video! You covered everything! I even learned a thing or two! Thank you !
Really looks nice. I bet your favorite part of the job is trimming the bushes and guess what? That is also my favorite part too. God bless.
This video made me cry. Great presentation but sooo many things made me cringe. Don’t forget your PPE like your respirator and gloves and please try your best to be more sustainable. We are in the middle of a climate crisis after all so I don’t think constantly throwing away plastic cups is very responsible. Silicone mixing cups are fantastic and save money too! Just let the resin cure and pop it right out :) also having some extra moulds to use up any extra resin is also a great idea, especially if you’re selling your products you could include it as a free gift with orders.
We zitten NIET in een klimaatcrisis . Dat wordt u aangepraat . Hou op met deze gekheid .
“Hey ! A glurrrgagurgin”
😂 I love you though!
thanks hun for an awsum video i just started in using resin, your video was an great help thank you xxx
Ive learned more is this video that the 200 previous videos. Great job.
This is a great video! Thank you! How do you get the bubbles out of the project that aren’t on the surface that a lighter would pop?
Beautiful.. thanks ❤
Thank you! 💖😊
Amen 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
They are GORGEOUS ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You can also use eye shadow. My favorite it mica powder
I would like to see you do a coaster using the hold trim.
Great video! Very, very informative. Just a little info for you. If you put alcohol ink in, then don’t use a match because the alcohol ink makes it flammable. Also you talk about heading to wait for resin to cure. UV resin does not have to be mixed up and you just put it under the light for 60 seconds or so and it’s cured. Very simple and no wait time. You might want to give it a try. The light is very cheap and get the extra large so a lot of resin can be cured at the same time. Thanks again for the video.
Thank you ❤
you can also use a hair dryer to pop the bubbles too
Thanks a lot for all this hints and tips! :)
I love your video.where you get your sprinkles ? I saw different but not like your around shape. Can you please let me know where you have your resin sprinkles?
Fascinating!
Thank you so very much for that video. I have all things that you have shown brought them so I can learn how to make different things? So your video shown me a lot, I don't know how it smell I haven't used it net. I am planning on making some things very soon. maybe this weekend. Thanks again God Bless You
Have you used foam flowers in your resin? Also when you get a drop in your resin after it cures mix some more and fill the dip in.
I like to use a heat gun to help remove bubbles. I am also going to make myself a hotbox since my house is rarely 75 degrees. The bubbles rise to the surface better if the ambient temp is around 75. Or that's what I've found anyway.
You answered all my questions! Thank you for this video, it was very helpful, and I subscribed to your channel. Scuse me while I go buy some resin, glitter, and molds!
I have some great matte molds, if you go back over it and just rub some clear resin over it then it will dry clear.
She mentions that in the video too 😊
Thank you so much, for sharing your video and where you got the molds from.
I was watching a resin video, in order to make it shiny from the mat mold was after it cured.
Mix a small amount of resin mixture and paint the object you want with a brush, glove fingers or sponge brush. Immediately it was clear and shiny. Wow it looked really great. After you would let it cure again.
Try watching Sreve Mc Donald Resin videos. He seems really knowledgeable. Maybe it could help you with some questions.
Lots of great advice! I would good ventilation is important. Other content creators have said alcohol inks are not good with resin because the color fades.
Great video, just curious wanted to know about your thumbnail, and what are you using to make it, like the triangle, makes a great thumbnail, fellow Resin artist.
Very informative.
Your video was very helpful for me. Today is my first time working with resin so I am looking for these kinds of tips and tricks. I do have one question...how long do you wait before using a match or lighter to get rid of the bubbles?
Thank youu that was super helpful!!!
I’m new to resin crafting! What brand do you think is the best priced for the product?
Thank you for this video,it helps please how can I get the materials
I noticed you did a little bit extra around the E just curious how do you clean that up and when
I USE RESIN AL THE TIME.IT IS FUN TO MAKE DIFFRENT THINGS.
Using mat molds are easy to fix with UV resin and dome your piece to give it the shine you want
thank you for ur Trial and error video, should of thought of the E6000 glue and bought smaller tubes, yeah when you add glitter to Ur resin it will drop to the bottom so you have to run a ferw test runs or layer or let the resin sit for as many hours required so all the glitter does not all sit in the bottom.
May I get the name of the glitter that looks like tiny lines please, I looked on Amazon but not sure what it is called, love watching your videos cuz U explain things well n I am a beginner so thanks U
Thanks
I’m a beginner. Great job.
Do you suggest mica powder for coloring
interesting video A Girl and a Glue Gun. I crushed that thumbs up on your video. Always keep up the terrific work.
Being I’m new to this and you’re supposed to wear a respirator is it wise to do it in your kitchen?
I like to pour a little resin in before adding stuff like paper...then pout more on top of it...it gets rid of the holes.
LisaR : Love that you Share your own experiences - both hits & misses ❤ There's so many ways to use this medium ! The more imaginative you get , the better :) Also , I'm thinking of all the bits and pieces from other crafts to use... It could cause unforeseen, yet
much fun use of tiny amts of "this & that "❤
I've never worked with resins before, but a few videos on resins popped up in the recommended. Right now my biggest question is what type of resin do you use for your projects? I'd like to get back to making knives. Use to forge them, but where I'm living, probably wouldn't work out very well. LOL. After viewing a few videos, didn't realize how many different types of resin there is. Thank You.
Awesome Ma’am 👌👌😍😍
Have you used mica powder?
Thank you so much for this! Super helpful! You should find ways to be more sustainable though. Two cups just to MIX the resin, let alone the ones you used to mix in the colors, etc. The silicone mixing cups work just fine. Just let it dry and turn them inside out to kinda "crackle" out all the resin. Plus, you're not having to spend money re-buying cups constantly.
I was thinking the same! I don't feel as bad about the popsicle sticks but the plastic 😱
You can re use the popsicle sticks! Even if they get resin on them. Just let them harden. Just gives them a nice coat.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together! I truly appreciate the tips and you taking the time to test out everything for us. You ROCK!!!
If the paint is overtaking the resign or not giving you the transparent look you're wanting then your using to much paint. I use paint a lot in my resin and it turns out great.
Paint will look light when mixing with resign but will dry darker. So it doesn't take much paint to work. You just need to remember the color will darken as it drys so you want the paint to look light when mixing....
I suggest doing a couple of little tests with the paint. That way you know how the paint and resin will look when dry and hardened. It does look different when dry then when you are mixing the two together...
Also powdered eyeshadow work great for coloring the resin eyeshadow is just mica poweder which used as powder dyes. You can get so great translucent Pearlized color from the eyeshowder. I have used eyeshadow a lot from my old eyeshadow kits also I buy the eyeshadow at dollar tree you also can use the bronzing powered and blush really any powdered make up does have to be just for the eyes...
This drys close to the same as mixed and its translucent if you want it less see-through then mix more poweder into the resin... just play around and test the paint and eyeshadow do a few test to see how it works if to dark then use less to light use more just play around with it a little bit.
I also have mixed paint and eyeshadow in my pours specially for my geodo's.
Forgot to say that to much paint the resin won't dry correctly so don't use a lot of paint in the resin. It doesn't take much paint to get good color...
I used acrylic paint but it doesn’t mix well, what am I doing wrong🥺
I'm a newbie to using resin and felt the need to experiment because that's part of the fun for me. I used 3 drops of red food coloring and probably a very generous amount of red glitter. I can say I was not disappointed with the results. I also put glow in the dark mica powder in the mold on the details. I plan to do a lot more projects in the future.
Very good advice! Just beware all resin is NOT a 1/1 mixture. Be careful when buying!
What a great idea using eyeshadow!!!!
Is Resin like Epoxy? Could I make cabinet handles and knobs?
Thx so much!! New to channel!! ❤
Just watching you do the letter with the sprinkles and I noticed you got some sprinkles in the letter next to it just curious, how would you clean that?
Wish I could find out how to use a silicone mold planter I don't know how to put holes in the bottom for the water to drain and how to keep the inside of the planter mold empty 😢
Ladies and gents with the poly gel nail kits!!! 💅 use them for dying/coloring your UV resin!!! Nail art stuff comes in sooooo handy for crafting with uv resin.
Also Mica power you can get diffrent variations of chunkyness and mica wont sink straight to bottom of your mold!! And you can find it in gravel mix in your yard. Nature's Glitter.
Hehehe You can thank me later! ❤❤❤❤
I use the paint a lot and as long as you don’t use a lot it’s fine. I just put a small dab on the end of my ice cream stick and you can use a tiny bit more if you need it. I feel the same way about that Amazon mold and dislike them. Don’t take one person’s word on the stuff that you use and just find what works best for you.
Warm soapy water is all need you can clean your moulds. So that your next time you use them they stay like new. You won’t end up with holes, or debris from when you don’t reuse the moulds, also dome your resin times, then you may not see your holes and it may fill them too. You can use a lighter or a heat gun on low to pop the bubbles too. Rather than using a match. I hope that helps. 😊
Where did you get the Mold?
Could you put more resin on the matte items to regain the gloss. You know...dome it.
I use resin. You should always wear nitrile gloves, a respirator and safety glasses and always work in a well ventilated area. Resin is a chemical, always be safe.
I dont touch the resin so i dont wear gloves. Never had an issue
@@BumbleteaArt yeah the Radium girls were working and getting paid. Never had an issue. Nope. People like Bumbletea Art are vulnerable people and should not be followed as an example in resin making or in living life successfully.
@@iggyglo4551 if you do your research you'll find out that most of the time when someone has a reaction to resin it's because they're allergic to it. And I have never had a reaction to resin if it accidentally touches my skin, and honestly because I'm an adult I'm allowed to take that risk
@@iggyglo4551 That goes without saying- doesn't it? Everyone knows that anyone who refuses to wear gloves while working with craft resin should never be followed as an example in resin art.... much less followed as an example in living a successful life. I mean, seriously, what the heck are people thinking if they believe a non glove wearing resin "artist" would be a good example in artistry OR living life successfully?? Not wearing gloves while working with craft store resin is the ultimate proof that they are living an unsuccessful life....
@iggy glo and Miss dee, I think, I hope Miss Dee was being sarcastic, and for Iggy Glo, please enlighten us poor ignorant folk who we should "follow" to live life "successfully" My, my, you take yourself quiet seriously for a UA-cam video watching crafter, just another nobody like all the rest of us. it is kinda fun to take stupid pot shots at people from the distance that the internet provides, makes you feel a wee tad less powerless and insignificant.
How did she get the coaster to have a gold trim?
For a faster cure try RV resin! It’s a much faster gratification 😁.
What is alcohol used for?. Clean up?
I noticed when you did the letters you never put the fire on them and how did they cure?
I need advice on which resin is the best for doming. Also, how do I polish my resin after sanding?
Vaseline on a sponge
Use glossy nail polish on finished products to revise your matte molds
“Alphabets” 😂😂😂 🗣️🗣️THEY ARE LETTERS!
How do you price the resin decor?
Take notes on each pice you create for future reference. How much reain you mixed, fillers used, mica used and how much. Was any left and what was used on.
¿Por qué la Resina se ve algo opaca, cuando está seca?
Será por la calidad de resina?
Matches? Is epoxy not flammable?
Time the stir is same large or small amounts.
You can pour a top coat on your product it will bring it to shiny
What about the mica powder?
When do my alphabet keychains they come out sticky and still wet at the bottom what I’m doing wrong
What do you do with these cups? You just throw them in the garbage being that they’re toxic do you put them in plastic?
What a nice girl u are! Thx for sharing!
