- This is a long one! But, when you have 11 horses needing to see the vet and farrier, plus getting 30+ ready for the Free Adoption Event coming up, it becomes a long week! Pauly gets pissed with good reason. There is good news and bad news along the way and the Tundra raises it's chilly head once again. Thank you all for watching!

I miss Doc Jim so much. I miss his kindness, humor and the way he talks to the horses with a soft voice. What a gentleman.
Amish people are the worst thing that could've happened to a horse. If they would only treat them well, they would have a fit horse for many years, and a happy horse at that. Those Amish animal owners tick me off. I'm thankful y'all help all of the horses. I love horses and I can't hardly stand it sometimes when they get treated so poorly.
There was one video, I think it was Horse Plus, that showed a draft horse who had nails pounded into live tissue in his foot.
@@Terry-lh8cnThat’s horrific.
Not just horses
I love standies...I hate that they suffer at the hands of the Amish like that. They are such great, bighearted, smart horses. They deserve better.
ABSOLUTELY!!!!! 😓💔
I have an Amish horse and his feet look just like that standardbred. A mess! They really don’t give a crap, I wish they had more animal welfare checks on them, they should be held at the same standard of care as the rest of us.
@@penobby1 And standies typically have great feet. It takes extra effort to make a mess of them like they do, all to save money. As bad as the racing industry is, the ones that go to them have it worse.
I know. I live where there's Mennonite and they're just as bad. All animals with Amish and mennonites are simply tools and property. If they break they throw them away. They are uneducated and have no interest in being educated. The ones here are told to spank their wives if they're bad, so if they can't even respect each other as humans its a clear marker of what they treat their animals like. The auctions are always full of them. I haven't heard of them humanely ethanizing them. They are just dumped at the auction or traded. Personally I cant see why they can't be held accountable. ugh. I feel sorry for every animal in their care.
Luckily it is not all the Amish people, that don't take care of their horses...
It is never fair to accuse people, of wrong doing.. because of faith, population group or colour..
Amish. Aren't they supposed to follow the written word of the Lord??... horses are God's children too.... Love 💘 Riot. Beautiful color and the blue eyes. 😍🥰❣Amazing fur baby.
The believe we have "dominion" over animals. That word should be "stewardship". We don't have the right to treat them any way we please and then discard them like broken toys when we're done. They run puppy mills, too. It's awful. I'm sure not all are like that, but enough are that the farrier was very familiar with the bad hoof care/shoeing practices, and horses being head shy because of rough handling. Says it all right there.
Dominion... and they don't believe animals have souls. Still doesn't make sense that they don't treat them like the very best tools that they have, that doesn't take anything but some thought and energy... maybe some learning and knowledge... it just doesnt make sense but for sure they are used up, spent and worn out...what a shame.
The vet is so soothing ! And the farrier is very clear with his explanations about the technical stuff. Great professionals !
He makes me think of what an older James Harriet must have been like as a vet
I love this vet he’s brilliant and he just shows he cares. Does his job with flare but grace too.
I love your farrier. His indignation at what was not done for the horses is spot on. He cares so much for the horses.
Live your older vet he's fair and kind, refreshing. Much respect. Love what you guys do. Thank you.
We love you Pauly and Doc Jim❤❤👍👍
I get so upset when I see horses the Amish have had, they don't seem to take care of them very well and work them to hard. So glad you have a great farrier and vet.
Pauly is fantastic! No sugar coating ,says is like it is. He tries hard for these babies and gives them every chance possible. Tell the haters to just keep on hating! Most people can't handle the truth anyways. Pauly is awesome with these babies!!!
A farrier like Pauly is worth their weight in gold! I love his passion, honesty, and the way he explains things. Always disgusts me how neglectful people are, especially with hooves. They're literally the foundation of the horse. I've learned a lot just watching and listening to him.
Love the vet! That poor buckskin just wanted love when he was examining him and the interaction was so sweet.
What a lovely vet... so nice to see a vet like you at work. All the horses were so at ease around you ❤
Man, you have one great farrier. He tells it like it is. I love him!!
I'm with Pauly. Especially after watching that Amish jerk abusing one of the Standardbreds. There's no excuse for the half-assed hoof "care" these horses got.
I hope sweet Baron can recover. I was surprised there was actually improvement. If the neurological signs are from an injury that caused swelling along the spine or in the head, I hope one course of anti-inflammatories and antibiotics heals it without recurrence. All the minis were adorable. And Riot is gorgeous!
We. Should shamish the amish
I have had a lot of respect for the Amish for the most pet. Vet Dr Pol has said many times he appreciated the Amish because they wouldn't lie to you and they would tell you the truth. We have to remember all Amish aren't alike. That being said I assume there are some that may skirt the truth. I however think many of these problems arise out of misinformation in their backgrounds. They have a big investment in their horses and to treat them carelessly is not in their best interest and against their moral values. Of course some may not hold to the values they are taught. There are many that fall in these cracks. The only way to know is to talk to them about what they know of animal husbandry. Now that would ban interesting conversation that I would love to get in on. However, that would be a man to man discussion. Until this happens I will have to hold to fact I am sure not all Amish are good farmers and not all of them practice good husbandry because of lack of knowledge. As if you wanted my opinion.
"Good thing we looked under the hood." 😮😂😂😂 Yeppers!
I think the horse who responded better today had just given up on anything good happening. After just two days he is beginning to think these people might just be okay.
Could be part of it, but to me it looks like those meds knocked down the problem, temporarily at least.
What a great vet! Love his gentle ways… God bless you!
I just love your vet Jim and Pauly. They know their stuff, such great professionals and so empathic. Love all you guys and all you do. Thank you so much for you all. 🙏🏻❤
Thank you!
Is there a school that would work on her with someone in training? The one with heart problem?
I do like the relaxed environment for the people and the horses. No drama yay!
The correct term is you could not care less. You can't care any less than zero.
Cart Horse Protection Association, Cape Town, South Africa, get the Carties, to bring their ponies in every two weeks. The tarmac roads wear the shoes to razor blades in no time. Thank you SO much for your care and dedication. Fantastic videos. Great vet and farrier! X
Thank you!!
When a carrier is angry you know somethings wrong.
When I was 15 I was training the Standies for racing...loved it...and the slower racers were sold to the Amish. Mind you when they were sold they had perfect feet, seeing this kills me to my core.
Fascinating vet visit! What a wealth of knowledge from Dr. Jim! And a superb farrier too! Thank you for taking such good care of your rescues! I wish them all well with great recoveries.
You are doing amazing vlogging!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!!
It was always the best day when the farrier would come.
You know for doing it the old way the Amish certainly do not give a shit about their animals. And that little Riot is so cute. You all won’t have him long
Hi. My name is Wilfredo, and I live in NYC. My family is from Puerto Rico, and I lived there for a few years in the mid nineties, and had 3 Pasó Fino, Paso Corto Horses. I just live to watch your videos. I just came across them on You Tube and I can watch them all day. I learn so much. Thank you. When I was a little toddler in Brooklyn , NY, the first animal I drew was horse. I absolutely love them, and they bring me so much peace and joy. God bless all of you guys.
Hello, welcome, and thank you!!
Thank goodness for the vets.
It was great thank you all at Pony Tales ,stay safe see you all next week .💚☘️🐎🇮🇪
I am in love with Pauly he is such a cutie! ❤❤ He genuinely cares about the horses I could watch him all day😂
You girls all deserve to be catered!❤❤❤❤❤
Hi The greatest farrier in the world. Have a good day and thank you for caring so much about the horses. God bless you
Excellent farrier. You are lucky to have him.
Love the wet, he is so good and firm and loving ❤
Love your vet ❤ wonderful fella and your farrier too x
Oh Boy, I really hope the beautiful buckskin comes around the corner completely! My heart broke for the Standardbreds. I love them and for many years we saved those that were let off from the racetrack. And re-trained them to be riding horses, trail horses. And well, they have their special ways. But they did good. And to see those horses basically getting run down with totally improper care and hard, hard work - it’s so sad! Pauly is doing such Great work for each horse. I really hope these ones come around, too!
Great Doc.. you can see the animals likes him👍🙂
I want to give a HUGE thank you to your farrier for being so honest. It's his love for the horse showing through and knowing how the horse suffers if farrier work is not done professionally! He's absolutly right. It's stupid or miserly human behavior that causes animals to suffer!
I would rather cry myself to sleep every night for months by having to surrender my pet, then have them suffer or a second!!!
I just stumbled across your channel! I’m so glad you guys rescue these poor guys and give them the love they need❤️❤️. I had no idea you guys were in Wisconsin, I’m from Wisconsin too! I got a clue from the snow it just looked like something from here 🤣.
Had my hearing tested doc. Said it was wonderful.
Drafts are such gentle giants,..our Samson is 18 hands and loves to give kisses....when we got him he did have some training but was also abused,..but now just lovable ....n we have a huge percheron too...very strong minded tucker is ..ty for helping and loving them..
LOVE PAULY!!! He really cares about all of these guys!!!
Thanks for another great episode!!! 😄 Learned a lot tonight!!🖒 Blessings to you for what you do!!!!!! 🙏💕
Thank you!
SIMON IS ADORABLE!
I am shocked at the treatment I've seen with Amish horses aren't they god's creatures who will work better with love and respect. Just look into the eyes of a horse and you can see their trust shouldn't we return that trust. I'm learning so much. Love from snowy Wales uk
PS love Dr Jim and Pauly farrier much respectx
I completely agree, for supposedly Godly people they sure treat their horses like a devil. Evil people.
Can we just all come out and finally say that the Amish are just not allowed to have horses anymore like honestly they are so abusive and they don’t even know what they’re doing
Doc and Pauli, both are fantastic with the equine, both have a great wealth of knowledge - both talking about their findings - one can learn an emense amount just from listening, looking and even touching or listening through the stetescope - That is fantastic. Those poor standies, what they have been through because of poor quality work and corner cutting. Did the previous owners etc, not know, or not care, so sad the consequences.
I hope Baron continues to make progress, he is such a cute sweetheart with gorgeous eyes.
Riot is also a cutie, so easy to read his thoughts through his expressions, a real charachter!
An abundance of tales to tell what you have there! Just love your refuge and all you do, you guys are amazing!🙏💕
Love the farrier!
It breaks my heart to see horses that have been treated that way I grew up riding and I had a horse named fury she was a pinto paint it came off of the Yakima Indian reservation in Washington she was terrific Boyd she live up to her name I loved her we had her a good twenty years never had she was always loved and taken care of it just breaks my heart taken well care of it doesn't take a lot to make they will be devoted to you if you went them to me keep up the good work I'm 67 years old today man I miss❤🤠😎🥰🤠
Back in the 70's my parents bred, raised, and raced standards. The best temperaments in the world. Going to the auctions amish people buying broodmare and geldings for buggy horses.
Goodafternoon Pont tales!❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
So much work, so little time!! Riot is absolutely beautiful, bet then they really all have their own beauty…. Poor Standies!!! Hopefully they will be able to recover well. Y’all are amazing! ❤❤
Thank you!!
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE PAULY!
Such kind people.
Preach it Pauly!
hi from Germany, Pony Tales and your super super doc. JIM !!!! and super Farrier !!!
the youg Painter , my dream horses😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hello!! Many thanks!
Excellent farrier!
Your young surrender is a beauty.
Baron is so sweet. Maybe he had some kind of trauma to his spinal cord before you got him. The livestock haulers pretty much load them like sardines in a can. I'm glad you have access to such good Vets and Pauley! Big animal vets are getting hard to find.
Thank you for all your help for the Belgians, I admire you. I look forward to hearing updates on this rescue.
This winter has been brutal. I’m ready for spring for sure. Your doing a wonderful job with the rescues, I hope to be able to donate soon….take care….
18:40 I had an owner surrender dog, first check they found a heart murmur, I got to have him about 1,5 year.
He got a lung infection in the beginning of December, we treated that, he was on 3 or 4 different medications.
We celebrated new year, everything was normal, he did tricks for treats and was all high spirits, but as we came home, he jumped out of the car, went sniffing and suddenly had an attack, where he just sat in the middle of the road and looked lost, which was the same as the first time he got pretty seriously sick.
By the morning, he could hardly breathe and I had to give him the last act of kindness, he was basically drowning from fluids in his lungs.
They can look great, everything can be great, but then suddenly it just turns ugly.
So sorry for your loss :(
Just exactly what happened to my dog. She was still fine on Christmas, but suddenly got worse in a few days. Vet tried to saved her for 5 hours, but she was drowning from fluids in her lungs too and her heart was in a bad shape. We had to give her the last act of kindness on a New Year's day (this year). 😥 It was devastating.
I must say I love your Vet. You can tell the love he has for the animals as well doesn’t hurt. I am from down in Tennessee way actually I’m in Florida, but I found y’all through horse rescue heroes and I have followed sense.
Boy, dont we wish horses could talk like us. 😕
Alle Tiere.
Sometimes....but other times, if animals could tell us all they'd been through, I don't think we could bear it.
@@uteschneider3349 Yes, I lost a dog because I misread symptoms. I thought he had arthritis, it was bone cancer. I hate that I made him suffer unnecessarily.
Pauly is great! I love how he explains what is happening with the horses hooves and what he has to do to fix the problems.
I wonder if the same owner had the Standardbreds that had the shoe problems? Looks like the same bad shoe work.
I know not all the Amish treat their animals badly, but the percentages sure seem to be consistent; at least with what we see with auction rescues.
Good bless you for what you do to save equines and give them another chance to live a better life. 🥰
Its sad that ignorance of people ends up hurting horses. I dont think its fair to say all armish people are bad to horses but there are a lot of horses that come from the armish that are not in good shape. I have seen some anazing horses come from an armish village. They are not all the same, just like everyone, they are all different. Love yr work Pauly
I've heard they now have cushions fariers can put on hard used horses, almost like them wearing a sneaker. I think I saw it in the UK
Thank you for helping those horses. Just love Dr Jim and hes work whit them. And your farrier Pauly, its so nice to see him work and here him explain whats going on. And I culd see he was realy frustrated whit the amishfarrier to. Im living in Norway and dont know much about the amish, but I thougt they did take good care of there horses.... I think I need to think again! They are not nice to there horses at all! So glad you saved them. Love you all for that.
I love those little minis
Absolutely heartbreaking for the Standard bred that pure meanness and lack of care would cause such issues🐴🐎🐴
Thank you for everything you do
Thank you for your support!
I hope he's okay I will be praying for him 🙏😇💕🤗
Wow, very informative and I totally love your farrier style. Ya'll are doing a GREAT job and I love your channel!!!
Thanks so much!
I love the paints. Patches and thechesrnut paint gelding both stole my heart!
Its so cold there.... getting older it's harder to regulate body temp. Maybe bring him in, its toooo. Cold.
I worked with Standardbreds for racing. Now, I know a lot of people would say that is cruel. We never sold our horses, we bred smart. Quality over quantity. We had a thirty year old racer who had retired before I started working there. He was the first horse my boss had gotten in his career. Thin as heck, but he'd get a small work out once a week in a small cart. He was still going when I had to leave the job. I broke my hand and had to get it fixed and the smaller bones put back into place. Me being stupid and goofing off with one of the babies we had, I was the one who got the babies used to being around people and me and the baby were pushing back and forth. I was leaving the stall and the baby pushed the door into my hand, yearlings when they lean into stall doors suddenly and the hand doesn't make it out of the way fast enough.... Decades ago. But I can tell when the barometer changes.
Love the videos but makes my heart hurt the way these beautiful horses are treated by people
Jim and Paula both seem like nice men and caring. Who is Jim and where did he come from? Those two men are really really nice guys. I can’t say enough about them both at gym just a good old boy with a lot of experience and a lot of Millhollon policies that a lot of experience and know how just a little bit younger he still has things to learn.
Jim was our vet but if out of practice now due to injury :/
I am curious to know if Pauly grew up Amish or Mennonite since his father owned draft horses. Also, he seems knowledgeable about how these cultures treat their horses.
The hoof gp follows cow trimmers around to their clients and follow their "patients " and treatments from lame to cured. Paulie needs to do kinda the same❤
I love love LOVE your farrier
I like want you guys are doing for the horse you guys are doing a great job for the horse Nannette ❤
love your show
Thank you!!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Oh the paint is beautiful! Very sweet too.
Riot is a pretty horse 🥰👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for all the care n love you have
Hi Vermont! Greetings from Santa Barbara California.
Hello! We are in Wisconsin :)
Pauly really should get a dedicated youtube channel or sub-series. Best hoof care, dialogue and explanations. Would love to see a focused show tracking the horses he works on and how things go. Super educational and so glad he's trying things to improve such an important element of their prognosis.
We could certainly do some videos like that!
Riot's beautiful, thank you
Greetings from Vermont!
Hello!!
i am loving tales from the Tundra.
Thank you!
That veterinarian reminds me of Dr Brockett who I worked for. May he rest in peace. One of the best vets, kind, loving and sweet as ever with the animals. But he treated us the same, as there was only 2 if us working with him. He was our family's veterinarian when I was 4yrs old. He traveled about 40 miles out to the farm to sew up our dog after taking on a muskrat. Doc was fresh out of school. I remember looking up at him as he was over 6ft tall an I told him, one day I'm going to marry you lol Well everyone laughed but 24yrs later I was working along side of him. I miss that old fart. I miss our lunches together, his jokes, and working with him. Doc would let me know when he was taking his 2yr son old to work so then I'd take my 2yr old daughter with me. Usually was on surgical days. It wont be long I'll be seeing him again as I'm now old. So many great memories made. Ladies, appreciate your veterinarians and their kindness, for there's many out there that have a real hate for animals. After he had slowed down at work he cut our hours, so I went on to work with a bigger city veterinarian. Let me just say, I lasted 3 days. The amount of ugly from her was overwhelming. She hated her staff, hated dogs and turned down a massive amount of farmers calls. That's why I say appreciate your veterinarians. ❤❤
❤❤❤
After all that poking and prodding and pushing around, that yawning Baron was doing is most likely a sign of stress release/relaxation, same as licking and chewing, lowering the head, snorting, shaking. Might it be EPM? Hope he feels better soon! Riot is a pretty boy, he's about the same age as my young guy...mine can be spicy, too, with no respect of my space, and trying to drive him back resulted in throwing a fit with ear-pinning, rearing, kicking! You would think he was a spoiled bottle baby, but he's not. lol It seems to be a thing with the young boys, but his mom and my other gelding have been starting to discipline him more and it's helping...taking a flag with me when I go out in the pasture to take hay out has helped with attitude adjustment, too. 🤣
Thats my kind of horse
That Riot is a cute looking guy!
First time watching you. Love your farrier. I know very little about horses. I’m glad the one horse is feeling better after a couple of days. I’m subscribing!
Thanks for subbing!
I want you guys are doing for the horse s and you guys are doing a great job for the horses Nannette ❤
Riot is sure a pretty boy! He is really cute!
