my only issue with this fisherman is that he uses barbed hooks .We al know the damage that type of hook does on the way out and you need very little skill reeling them in .
Sorry but that was funny as hell, we've all lost fish at the net but it's funny when it's not you. Great channel, very watchable. Glad you're doing what you love and making it work for you.
OMG! I've Re- Watched This 4 times....I couldn't help giggling but also really felt the let Down...He was A Beautiful Fish & Certainly Gave You Some Excellent Sport...Loved the angle from 2nd Camera, We could really See What Happened... Loved This Video So Much 🎣Thank You For Sharing!
Hope you enjoy the video guys. Apologies on the video not currently being HD its a technical issue with youtube and they'll correct it shortly. Cheers lads Edit: its sorted
I’ve seen mirror carp on this stretch between the car park and the first lock. Around half a dozen grouped on the surface in the sun. Saw that area where the first chub was caught too, was planning on having a go there myself. Great vid.
Make sure you get yourself a 42" landing net. I would recommend the sonik xtractor recon landing net as its pack down size is only 30" perfect for on the move fishing 👍.
Its nice to see something real on video - the sort of thing that happens to us all at some point! Most videos on here only show the good parts so fair play for putting it out there!
Yes. Them choice of words are standard procedure for moments like that. I'm a river angler trough and trough barbel are an awesome fight but hooking in to a good specimen river carp makes me hold my breath for pretty much the whole fight. They say its a peaceful past time but the anxiety during the fight is crazy 😀 good footage pal 😀👌👍
I did this on the ouse as a 14 year old boy with a perch of about 4lb getting on for 30 years ago , can remember it like it was yesterday .... I have never come close to catching a perch nearly as big but have never stopped trying. Great channel mate 👍
4lb is a serious fish - especially on a river. My pb is 3lb 11oz from a still water and hoping to get a 4 this winter/spring. Good luck buddy. Still water your best bet.
I am not an expert angler especially when it comes to fresh water in the UK, but for me that was a fish landed and if you think it was your personal best then in my eyes it was your personal best. The perseverance and ultimately the skill you showed in teasing her out of the snags was top class. A brilliantly honest video Ginger. There are so many fishing channels on youtube and initially it was your lure fishing in UK waters that got me watching yours. I spent my youth freshwater fishing in North Louisiana, most of it for predatory fish with lures. When I returned to the UK and up until recently, I considered that freshwater fishing over here was all about sitting on a peg or lining up along the canal. I now live on the coast in Wales and I love tossing lures out for sea bass, pollock etc but you, and a few other fishing channels have made me consider what I missed out on when I lived in the midlands. Thankyou.
Hi, Ginger Fisherman you make amazing movies and give me very good advice. I started fishing in the UK about two months ago. I've already caught a few pike and perch. Thanks again for everything and look forward to more videos :)
Absolute hysterics, I had to rewind so was made up to see you got both angles. I’ve done the exact same recently with a decent chub so laughed with complete empathy, Just glad to see I’m not the only one. Really nice fish though mate and awesome video.
So they weren't coming up for floating bread anymore..... ahhh, but the slow sinking bread after being enticed with slingshot bait, and BAM! And then you lost him and netted him again, and lost him again, and I thought you were going for a swim. WoW! I just happened to find you today, and I've enjoyed several of your videos immensely! We get some big Carp here in the States too, and I've enticed a few Hogs using the egg sucking leech on the fly...... not something that Fly Fisherman brag about, but still a heck of a strong fighting fish! Thanks and Blessings!
At least you got it on video 😧 I hooked into a sturgeon while walleye fishing with an ultra light rig on a 1/8th oz jig and minnow and 5 lbs line. Fought it for 1/2 hr, got it next to the boat, close to 6 feet and probably 70 lbs. Went to grab my camera and the line snapped ! Fishing is an addiction and all that comes with that.
Hi from Devon bud. Again, great footage, lovely explanation of bait set up, gives the novice insight into keeping floating crust on the hook. Fishing is fishing, the ginger fisherman is different. Top bloke. Thanks.
Brilliant, I lived the playing of that second fish holding my breath, brilliant video, put a smile on my face, on the positive, at least you had footage of the fish that got away, same can't be said for some of the ones I've lost 😂👌 keep up the good work, love the channel
You must be the hardest working but unluckiest fisherman on UA-cam! Every video your up to your knees in nettles in flip flops or still fishing with hooks stuck in your hand! Your awesome buddy! You do the type of fishing I used to love when I was younger and fit for those activities lol
some of the best fishermen across the Pond (Bill Dance, Roland Martin, etc) they all say with the exception of tournaments if you touch the fish it counts lol... so yes, you caught it... we'll never know exactly how much it weighed but it was a beast. there are some fishing ponds here in North Carolina where they stock carp and have monthly contests.... they have carp upwards of 50lbs, no joke. can you imagine.... good fish right there...
Some thoughts on your bike: I fish the canals alot for all sorts like yourself. I use a rack with ortlieb classic panniers, which are waterproof and give me 40l of storage. No need for a bag on my back and I can comfortably take 2 rods with kit, bait and waterproofs etc. Covering 8 miles is no problem. Might treat myself to one of those electric bikes next - now that would be the ultimate roving set up!
Oh good lawd brother!!! That's a heartbreaker!! Have you ever watched "outdoor boys" or the carp and catfish channel... a great Dad, fisherman and creator! He's been to England and Spain looking for fish, dragging his young boys with him... good content.... anyway, you'll get your golden whale ;) ... I'd love to see you hit that overgrown pond with your belly boat again! That was SERIOUSLY exciting! Just a thought, instead of peddling miles up and down the canals, why not do a collab with one of the narrow boat channels? Sort of a there and back again spotting these chungus carp.... keep up the great work, cheers!
Brilliant channel Chris and love the fact it’s not dominated by carp fishing. Love that canal/river with its gin clear water. Keep up the cracking work. Finally subscribed too 👍🏻
I swear every time I see a chup it looks like a mini grass carp. Edited, I live in the US and I dedicated myself to carp because they fight like mad. And I don’t care what anyone says that was a caught fish beautiful mirror buddy
Wow amazed you got it back once.... I do mainly carp fishing but have been inspired to do river lure fishing after work or on lunch break for an hour .....I always unhook my carp well away from lake/river....positive thing is, you'll never do that again. 😊
Ive recently just got into carp pole fishing with my lads, and we've been lucky and a few beasts already! Not canal, on ponds. Ive been watching loads of your vids lately, me and my lad are going to try lure fishing this weekend! It looks awesome, we picked some micro jigs up and tipsy 1.2 inch worms, cant wait to have a go. Keep up the great content.
Used to fish that length when i was in my early teens . Noticable that you can clearly see the bottom of the canal which you couldnt in my day !. A result of not being dredged for years i suppose .
🤣 that was so funny when it jumped out your net! I felt for you mate and it’s haunting, i know cos my first ever 30+ carp jumped out of my match net before I eventually upgraded everything. Stills haunts me to this day
Belting vid pal, I remember maybe going back 10 years I spotted a huge common on the Leeds Liverpool, in Adlington, shame as it was unfortunately dead, must have been 25 plus, easily, huge fish.
We have all had it happen Chris - I lost a low double last month by not paying attention and putting my rod down before fully lifting the net, the mirror spat the barbless hook and jumped out of it! That was a lake Carp though, we have some in the Grand Union Canal locally and they are a whole different proposition, spook easily and apparently fight a lot harder as they are wild fish. Not managed to hook a canal one yet so fair play to you for at least getting that one to the net
Mate.. your videos are so good. Everytime I watch one I wanna get straight out on the bank. I'd of been absolutely devastated for that carp coming out the net ! Look forward to your carp campaign 😀 👍🏼
Dude your the Ginger fish ninja lol....... good fun watching you catch fish. I live in NZ and only fish in the sea...... you would freekin love it here , I regularly catch fish up to the 50kg mark and sometimes bigger..... Fishing is so much fun bro .
That got the adrenaline rushing! You stalked it, hooked it, landed it, unhooked it and safely returned it - job well done. Who needs scales? We can all see that it was a big bugger. I have the next size down of Sigma net (medium?) and landed a 11 pound common in it last Saturday. 6 inches of it were hanging out of the net. Yours was bigger than that.
Still banked it mate! Seems like you like similar fishing to me. I'm not really a carper but I do enjoy catching them from rivers and canals. Canal campaign sounds great. Canal near me down south is due a campaign with a few mates. Had a couple freelining off of bread where people feed the ducks!
I feel your pain. I caught my p.b. carp on my birthday, got it in and weighed it at 25.5lbs, put it in the sling to rest as I set up my camera for some pictures. Went back to the sling and it was empty, I had forgotten to do the zips up all the way.
Well that was entertaining to say the least but I feel ya pain it kills but atleast you caught one all the best for your next venture and looking forward to seeing some of those canal carp
I’ve never been much of a ‘lure guy’. But since finding you channel, I now have a 5-24g light lure rod, drop shot gear, jigging gear and a loads of small 2.5-22g lures. Been loving it, gonna hit my local canal in October, try and get some big perch and little jack’s out.
I started a month ago. I've had about 6 or 7 decent chub in lures. Big perch are difficult to catch on a lure. It's all about getting the right lure and retrieving it with the right action be that jerking cranking etc..
I only got the stuff at the beginning of summer, so have been mainly tench fishing, with the odd carp season since then. But now tench season is coming to an end, perch, pike, chub and grayling will be in my sights.
Ah Chris I’m not gona lie I couldn’t stop laughing looking at this it just brought me back to when I was out for perch with ultralight setup I hooked a pike which was I’d say around 15lb I had 8lb braid to a 4lb Fluro hooklink played this pike for about 20mins walked it down the bank to a jetty for kayaks managed to beach it onto the lowest step which was half submerged under water pike let a swirl out comes the hook wraps around a bush tried to grab the pike Cpl of quick turns and she was away oh was so funny, and their was a young guy videoing everything behind me I was so embarrassed,oh man I’m glad it’s not just me that gets those funny moments in fishing 😂😂😂that was brilliant😂😂😂
Hi I've just started watching you and subscribed 😊 I have a canal right beside my flat I just need to walk over, about 3 minutes walk it goes for miles then into the sea I think, watching your canal fishing has gave me lots of tips on what baits to use and lures, worms 🪱 maggots and lots more. Thank you for all the advise. Good luck on your future fishing adventures.👍🤞
Sorry mate but i laugh my *ss of with that last carp i have it a few times too and after it i could laugh but at that moment…… nice vid mate, i have a very bad weeks behind me but you make me laugh again!! Thanks buddy ✌️😅
Aww Chris i feel your pain bro But you did land it bank it and unhook it before it let itself go so don't beat yourself up too much we still got to see how lovely a fish it was and now you know what to do next time, Tight lines pal 💙🎣 ✌💙👍 from Scotland
You are by far my fave fishing channel to watch. So entertaining but so caring for the fish and environment around you too. Awesome!
my only issue with this fisherman is that he uses barbed hooks .We al know the damage that type of hook does on the way out and you need very little skill reeling them in .
Sorry but that was funny as hell, we've all lost fish at the net but it's funny when it's not you. Great channel, very watchable. Glad you're doing what you love and making it work for you.
Never during a landing, or after it was in the net. And who's got that "brilliant" idea of nets with barely ant dept.? Absurd tool...

Proper real fishing, warts and all, well done Chris and thank you for all the work you put into making these videos.

Best video ever 😂 1st time I've ever heard you swear 😂 brilliant 😂
That is the best kind of fishing so exciting and separates the good anglers from the bad.awesome!
You Plonker, Rodney! You almost lost your camera! Loved this! Excitement and Laughter (and a tear) in one video. - Thank you so much for sharing.
That was entertainment at its best you will beet that with your determination so don't worry always another opportunity good stuff chris
Hi,

There you go. However that beautiful Mirror was caught fair and square. The weight is just a minor detail. Well done
Love the drama Chris, love it. You get days like that 😂😂😂❤
That was an awesome escape. Carp are highly intelligent. Great Fishing Adventure.
At least you got it on video 😧

Fishing is an addiction and all that comes with that.
Rookie mistake 🤣🤣 unhooking next to the edge of the water... what a great mirror though 👌 the fight is the reason I love carp fishing
Funny...hope you found it so !
Greetings from Poland. 👍🤜🤛
That was amazing😂😁
@Bacon 😂😂😂😂
At least that's a catch u won't forget now, so in some ways it may be for the best, after all, it's all about the memories, top angling as always
Hi from Devon bud. Again, great footage, lovely explanation of bait set up, gives the novice insight into keeping floating crust on the hook.
Fishing is fishing, the ginger fisherman is different. Top bloke.
Thanks.
Mate that's heart breaking! Atleast you got a look at it. Plenty of carp in that part of the canal you'll get another chance
Brilliant, I lived the playing of that second fish holding my breath, brilliant video, put a smile on my face, on the positive, at least you had footage of the fish that got away, same can't be said for some of the ones I've lost 😂👌 keep up the good work, love the channel

That was great. Yes those carp can be addictive. But as always . Shit happens. Can’t wait for the next trip.
Uploads keep getting better and better.
Them canal carp are fighters mate unlucky on the lost but u still got to feel the fight keep it up
🤣 that was so funny when it jumped out your net! I felt for you mate and it’s haunting, i know cos my first ever 30+ carp jumped out of my match net before I eventually upgraded everything. Stills haunts me to this day
I pished myself when that carp took off what a hoot
Started watching your videos a week ago due to thinking of taking up fishing again, and subbed to your channel.this video was awesome.
Belting vid pal, I remember maybe going back 10 years I spotted a huge common on the Leeds Liverpool, in Adlington, shame as it was unfortunately dead, must have been 25 plus, easily, huge fish.
great video !...its happened to all of us....keep em coming...
Unlucky mate, happens to us all! Excited to see the campaign 😁
Great video! Great fisher man on a great water!
We have all had it happen Chris - I lost a low double last month by not paying attention and putting my rod down before fully lifting the net, the mirror spat the barbless hook and jumped out of it! OMG in nearly dived in there myself i got that caught up in the moment.
Brilliant story telling and footage, i was gutted for you.
Love the vids Chris. Keep em coming.
Mate.. your videos are so good. Everytime I watch one I wanna get straight out on the bank.
I'd of been absolutely devastated for that carp coming out the net ! Look forward to your carp campaign 😀 👍🏼
Just discovered your channel and I'm hooked! Can't wait now to try some canal fishing myself when I'm on the Oxford canal in the next few months.
Dude your the Ginger fish ninja lol....... good fun watching you catch fish. I live in NZ and only fish in the sea...... you would freekin love it here , I regularly catch fish up to the 50kg mark and sometimes bigger..... Fishing is so much fun bro .
the suspense... wow! great job still :)

Hahaha ! Sorry dude that was brilliant !! Great stalking, that was one angry Mirror ! Carl and Alex always say how powerful river carp are !..
I feel your pain. I caught my p.b. carp on my birthday, got it in and weighed it at 25.5lbs, put it in the sling to rest as I set up my camera for some pictures. Went back to the sling and it was empty, I had forgotten to do the zips up all the way.

Wow Chris that was a big carp for a canal nice rudd and two chubb excellent vid buddy I thought you where in the water there buddy
nice rud and a well made video thanks for sharing
Well that was entertaining to say the least but I feel ya pain it kills but atleast you caught one all the best for your next venture and looking forward to seeing some of those canal carp
I’ve never been much of a ‘lure guy’. But since finding you channel, I now have a 5-24g light lure rod, drop shot gear, jigging gear and a loads of small 2.5-22g lures. Been loving it, gonna hit my local canal in October, try and get some big perch and little jack’s out.
You’ll never look back I love it!
Class video mate, I felt your pain when the fish jumped! Beautiful fish it was and very good job on landing it. Keep it up, this one made me laugh! 🤟🏾
I really enjoy your channel but this one absolutely had me in stitches- great fun mate 😂
That was quite funny, but great catch never the less. Nice fish well done mate

Ahh man I'm gutted for ya, cracking fish, better luck next time.
Quality, really made me laugh. Great video.
Mate! Absolutely gutted for you that you didn’t get to weigh that beast but still a great feat of angling. Well done 👏🏻
