Just picked mine up last Sunday, Bern. MDX Type-S, tiger eye on orchid, with Advance package. Local dealer in Nevada tried to lease me a base Type-S, found an Advance in AZ for the same price. Best looking, handling and driving suv I’ve ever driven.

Very sharp looking car. Beautiful inside and out. Priced favorably compared to Euro models that cost much more and do not have the features the Type S Advance has. And to top it off these cars are much more reliable than the competition. The haters are usually the people that can't afford one of these. Stick with your bland Buick's, Kia's, Toyota's...

Seems like the type S, was plagued by minor programming issues with the transmission lagging and or hunting for gears during quick shifts. The moniker Type S, should never been used in a SUV, i mean they trying to make a 2.5 ton SUV move quick but the problem is that ita not quick maybe at best we can call it spirited driving in a straight line.
The MDX advance ahould have been the SUV that should have had the turbo engine with lots of options. Instead the marketing geniuses decided to use the elite Type S moniker on this tank. I love Acura but the moniker should have been reserved for a sports car, coupe and maybe for a small 4 door sedan but a SUV? I say its total failure. You now can get a type S, used for about $55k.
I wouldn’t say it’s a total failure. Blame the other brands for starting that trend

VERY SHARP!
First of all, I've heard of people "driving like a dick head" in the new ct5 blackwing and getting 13 mpg and a best of 22. That makes literally double the power of this. Second of all, you could literally buy something faster just in the price difference from the base awd to the type s. Don't get me wrong, I think the type s is cool, but not 20 grand cool over a base. If they offered the type s as a 5k package with just brembos and the engine, they would have sold so many of those. I drove the piss out of one and just wasn't impressed even though I really wanted to be. I feel like Doug Demuro review was the most spot on. It's cool, just not worth the price tag IMO.
That's fair. I was hoping for more in the MDX myself.
$20K more! No way, I would rather go with a BMW X5 if you're getting that high,
@@gtl1010 Agree, except from my understanding the x5 doesn't have 7 seats. I think that's why a lot of people lean towards the MDX
@@alucarus6 X5 does have 7 seats as an option.

Way too expensive for what it is. "Blistering fast" you need to drive an BMW X5 or Merc GLE both in 6 cylinder - they're blistering fast. Not the Type as at 0-6 in 5.8 sec.

Yeah the Germans go 0-60 in 4.6 sec, but you'll save 40k on the Acura over the German cars, and you can use the extra cash to upgrade the turbo if you're that much of a speed freak!!!!
@@KILLAN0ONE $40K more for the German cars? You need to check your figures. The BMW X5 4.0 is $10K over not $40K over. That's comparing 6 cylinder to 6 cylinder like in the Acura.
$70K for a Honda ? Pass
Yeahh it is steep but the luxury inside kiiiinda makes up for it haha
