If you don't mind this old gardener giving you some advice if your going to grow corn prep the space weeks before planting with the poop from your chickens and til it in. Thank you Chad for sharing your adventures with us. its so nice to see your "darling" in her garden - your comment "she loves to grow veggies & I love to eat them " did make me chuckle.
Good morning, you guys may already know about this, but the Native Americans used the 3 sisters companion planting method- corns, beans, and squash- plus they put a dead fish at the bottom of each hole when planting corn seeds. The beans fix nitrogen, the squash leaves shade the soil, the corn provides trellising for the beans and squash, and the fish is fertilizer. I love how you used the weed cloth between the wooden raised beds, and hugelkultur to help fill the large metal beds! I am only a third of the way through the video, but I am hoping to see that you are also composting for future free soil! 😁
Yes we attempted it this year. We probably didn’t plant enough beans or squash but the ones we did plant didn’t grow well. We didn’t do the fish fertilizer either. We’ll take what we’ve learned this year and try again next year with some adjustments. The 12 tiny corn cobs were very sweet though.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I think you guys are doing an amazing job! One if the most fun things about gardening is experimenting and learning as you go along. 🌱

i LOVE your garden. I love to garden as well, but I'm in Kenya currently. I hope to be back to the US before next growing season. My favorite and most successful garden vegetable was the grape tomatoes, which I planted against a 6 foot fence, and I wired them up real well. They grew up to the top of the fence and up over the top and down the other side to the ground. We had so many delicious tomatoes that year. (SE Missouri). I also found a variegated green and white basil plant at a nursery that I planted in a wooden urn. It grew so nicely and provided us with fresh basil for months. I wish I knew the name of it , but it was very ornamental as well.
This video just made me smile all the way through. I love seeing the success of your garden and how happy your Darlin is. Olive, with those eyes and face, looking imploringly at you with the Kong in her mouth would have been hard to resist! Welcome to any new Hidden Spring Farm Family!!!

Rigth now I don’t know if still my dream come true…,😂😅 have a blessed day 🙏🏽🤗
I have to pick my okra before it gets too big. If it’s as big as you harvested it is too tough to eat. It’s woody. I hope you can cook it to be edible when it’s so large. I’ll bet the pigs enjoy it too
As you showed us all the wonderful produce from the garden, I suddenly craved a tomato. I do not have a garden, but I did shop at a local garden store and bought two beautiful tomatoes on Tuesday. It was delicious. Thanks for the temptation!!
From my own experience, adding some wood ships, dried leaves or any other kind of ground cover would save your plants by retaining moisture and regulating the soil temperature. Your tomatoes would last a lot longer and would ripen on the vines easier, especially in the raised bed where soil dries a lot quicker.
Remember that you grow organic corn. It will be smaller and sometimes a little underdeveloped. Maybe try silver queen next year. It is very sweet and w😅e try it with moderate success. If we fertilize consistently it does better. Corn is so delicious so keep trying. My grandma used to tell me alwYs if at first you don't succeed try try again! Nice garden Chad and Remi.
I’ve never even thought of it like that. Huge corporate farms I guess use the modified corn seeds eh. I’ll look for that variety and maybe add some more nitrogen next year.
Persistence pays off. and we learn from our mistakes. Tell "Darling" to watch a channel called TEO gardening, The man is amazing and she will learn many tips and great ideas! Are there any pumpkins? Thanks for another awesome visit - always makes my day and I wish I was there! 🥰🥰
We had very sandy soil and needed more nutrients in the soil. We put all our leaves on the garden and the garden just rocked. Every year it got better. Your place is a dream, I grew up in St. Mary’s Ontario. I miss it so much. Sending love ❤️ 💕
Marzano tomatoes are highly regarded in Italy, for health I'd go for their food instead of strange veggies. Golden opportunity as you can produce a lot yourself.
Just a suggestion for your wife, put corners on her beds, some little ones for her drinks and some bigger for sitting on, she has a place to sitand pick and then so some so you can find the lost drinks 😂, ask me how I know. ❤

You and your Darling deserve only the best, you are both realizing your dreams surrounded by animal love and yes "my Darling loves to cook and I like to eat, a win win love partnership". 😂 I agree, it's perfect! You two are great! Take a bow for making great progress and living youe dream!👏👏👏👏👏💪💪😻
@@claudiarusso6702 aww thanks. You know starting the channel I never really imagined the possible impact it could have on strangers lives but it’s very cool knowing it in fact can and does. We both love reading all the comments and realize that people who were once strangers are now friends. Have a great weekend 😎
Definitely really enjoyed this one, especially love the editing and the fitting music selection!! No matter what my struggles are, just bringing depression, I have to admit I appreciate what you do, as except for some inevitable sad news, has always put a smile on my face, knowing there are good people still out there inspiring me to not give up, in not only pursuing my dreams but that it is all a process and its perfectly fine that won't happen overnight. Thanks to you Chad, your loving partner, and all the beautiful creatures that you kindly share with all of us.
Hello Chad, Darlin Ms.Olive and Fuzzy Bear - Great video of the garden. Hard work but enjoyable and delicious results. The main result is you making your lovely wife Happy. lol I am having my coffee and getting ready for work. Hug Ms. Olive for me and all the wonderful animals. Until next time, you all have a fun weekend. God Bless
It’s always nice when the cats visit us in the garden.
Awesome veggie garden. Thanks for the inspiration 🫛🍆🫑🧅😃
My pleasure 😊
It is always nice to see the ducks in the pond. You and Remi have really done well with the gardens. You have a very nice cropp of fruit and veggies. Thank you for sharing. Thoughts and Prayers. Love and Blessings.

I am a huge fan of your channel! I love your context. I love your animals. I love your garden. I'm a woman and I even love it when you build something and use your sawmill! You name it, I love it! Love from Texas ❤😻
Awesome, so happy to have you watching. We drove thru northern Texas once and I hadn’t realized it was so windy there. I thought tumbleweeds were soft & fluffy but nope they scratched up my hood 😆
Hi, Your New Subscriber here, a pilipina living in Colorado, I love what you have and what you are doing guys, it’s my dream to have a farm lot where I can grow varieties of veggies like yours, we’re now on our 70’s retired…. Rigth now I don’t know if still my dream come true…,😂😅 have a blessed day 🙏🏽🤗
Hi kabayan
@@RemySmith-x3cHello kabayan kamusta kyo dyan? here in Colorado right now is snowing 🌨️
@@yourOldPurple kabayan it’s snowing here now too . Take care and god bless ❤️❤️❤️
I have to pick my okra before it gets too big. If it’s as big as you harvested it is too tough to eat. It’s woody. I hope you can cook it to be edible when it’s so large. I’ll bet the pigs enjoy it too
my wife ate the smaller ones and used the bigger ones to dry out the seeds for next year. She says it does get a bit tough so you're right on.
As you showed us all the wonderful produce from the garden, I suddenly craved a tomato. I do not have a garden, but I did shop at a local garden store and bought two beautiful tomatoes on Tuesday. It was delicious. Thanks for the temptation!!
Wonderful!
From my own experience, adding some wood ships, dried leaves or any other kind of ground cover would save your plants by retaining moisture and regulating the soil temperature. Your tomatoes would last a lot longer and would ripen on the vines easier, especially in the raised bed where soil dries a lot quicker.
i love this
@@robertthabainzau2505 nice!
Well look into it, thnx. Actually not one pumpkin, very tiny cantaloupe and only a handful of small watermelon.
We had very sandy soil and needed more nutrients in the soil. We put all our leaves on the garden and the garden just rocked. Every year it got better. Your place is a dream, I grew up in St. Mary’s Ontario. I miss it so much. Sending love ❤️ 💕
I’m gonna mulch up a bunch of leaves and add it this fall. Hopefully we’ll get the same results as you.
All those veggies look great
So good
This video is so inspiring! Thanks for showing what can be done: healthy, delicious food like my grandparents enjoyed ❤
😁
Marzano tomatoes are highly regarded in Italy, for health I'd go for their food instead of strange veggies. Golden opportunity as you can produce a lot yourself.
@@FighterFred we have loads of the san marzano and beef take too, along with everything else we tried this season.
Love your show.
You rock!
Just a suggestion for your wife, put corners on her beds, some little ones for her drinks and some bigger for sitting on, she has a place to sitand pick and then so some so you can find the lost drinks 😂, ask me how I know. ❤
Hi Chad, it's amazing how much skills you have in building the garden. It's just beautiful now after your hard work. I'm glad to see more of your wife in the video. Tell her that she is a wonderful woman. Your friend from Kingston Ontario.
