hi ive been contemplating on getting a 2 stroke 125 as i dont think a 4 stroke 125 will have enough power to keep me from getting bored too quick. ive never had a two stroke before so id be diving right in... any help?
Schizophrenic 2 strokes are good and by far quicker but they need constant maintenance and they go through about 10/20 quids with of fuel a day where the 4 stroke will go of 6 quid all day and less maintenance
Get a japanese 80s 2 stroke. Like DT or KMX, KX KDX. They are very reliable, and if you dont thrash them 24/7 only occasionally they last around 20-30k until it needs a rebuild. Rebuild is around 400 quid if you kept it toped up with fluids and didnt let it seize. Maintenance wise, other than filling fluids up and warm it before ride, you shouldnt be doing anything else. Its just ktm that eats your wallet up, japanese 2 strokes are good if not derestricted. If you derestrict it you absolutely need to fine tune the carb so it doesnt blow up. Also if derestricted they will need rebuild much more often, but stock they are very reliable to even commute with. Fuel wise if you dont go above the power-valve opening point, (6k on a kmx if my memory serves right) they can roll around with 40mpg. If you have fun with it (which lets be honest you will be) than you can expect 18-20mpg. If you go offroad than thats even worse. Thats about it really. Also USE FULLY SYNTETIC GOOD QUALITY OIL!!!! I cant stress this enough. DOnt put cheap tesco shit in. That will just result in increased wear and eventually shorter life span between rebuilds.
Looe looks nice and quiet this time of year. Every year when i come down its rammed!!! How close to looe is the nearest place to take your bike offroad? i stay in polperro but im gunna bring my offroad bike and find somewhere to blast the hills or something
Hey, so i'm buying a 125 and I don't know if I should buy a Ktm DUKE or EXC? I like gliding around on my moped but still enjoy racing sometimes. I just don't know if I can glide around on a unrestricted 2-stroke?
Good fun. You would most probably use less fuel if you didn't blip the throttle - but hey, its a 2 stroke so I know the feeling (daily use of a kmx just up the coast )
Professional 4stroke rider...
i could listen to that ktm sound all day
Randomly stumbled on this and of all places you're driving through Looe! Love when we stay down that way.
As soon as you got into town i recognised it. You're in Looe! only visited once, years ago, for a holiday. Lovely place.....bike sounds nice btw.

Exc you'll regret it otherwise
Good fun.

Custom seat cover?
What's the town called? I've been there on holiday in Cornwall!
I Bentley looe
I recognise it as well I think
When you fill up with petrol do you have to premix or is there a bit to put the fuel and then oil
Fuel first then oil then shake the fuck outs the bike
Your so lucky where you live, such a nice place and out the way of all the bullshit
Its been 2 years... Hope you learned how to shift by now
he hasnt

I'm getting a duel sport for my 16th I did have a Kx 65 but sold it about 3 month ago do you have any suggestions
Pallademo cheers bud what bike you getting ?
not sure just waiting for my licence to come then I can go shopping but only problem is there's no were to ride off road near me
Pallademo are you getting a road legal one (cbt bike) if so get a Aprilia rx50
ye I'm getting a road legal one not sure what tho cos I have to see what my buget will be cos I'm only 16 and I'm buying it myself
Pallademo well as long as it's a 2stroke you will be alright, usually anything Aprilia is pretty quick
im no expert but i think you shold pull the clutch when youre not giving gas, because engine braking is really bad for a 2 stroke
clutch/ throttle blip. Too much engine braking will blow the engine as the rings wont get enough oil
Randomthings I was thinking the same, he must not know about how the oil pumps work?
Will Sherriff I don't let the throttle all the way off I just keep it the slightest bit open to allow it to just give it enough
U.K. pitster oh, okay well i guess it should be fine then
U.K. pitster fair enough I do that sometimes on my rs125 but I'm never sure it's safe so I pussy out and pull the clutch in
What's your Instagram and also what county do you live in?
RacingWithBrad ukpitster and I live in uk
Are you selling your KTM ?
Triqz Nk no
2nd
That bike has a high idle 😂😂
It's lean
What is the age requirement to ride one road legal, someone tell me please
gaming monster 007 19
You can ride a 125 at 17 in UK with l plates on soon as you pass a CBT test
I’m pretty sure there’s more engine breaking than acceleration, it’s a nice bike and sounds great but don’t engine break 😬
2-'s doesn't have any engine breaking
What's your Instagram
Jack Durban ukpitster
1st👌
Your exhaust is leaking, and you should really stop engine braking.. Its a 2 stroke.
Henrik Aarli I'm not engine breaking and it's not I've checked
you are engine braking so fucking much dude....
You deffo are engine braking bro
Short periods of engine breaking are ok on a two stroke
Why are you riding it like a grandad on a Harley it’s a 2 stroke give it some
Stop fucking revving the bike
Cn3 why
