I like it, I just recently bought a1988 Peugeot Montreal Express at a thrift store for only 15 bucks,it just needed a front wheel,I am 6-2 and absolutely love the tall frame design,I have never had a better bike and its a pleasure to cruise around on I have always loved the classic bikes and are far better than that Walmart junk.

I recently restored a '67 Peugeot UO-8, the same size as yours. It was in horrible condition and a touch-and-go experience until I had the frame blasted and determined it was fine and could go ahead. I'd give yours a chance by sanding the rust to see how extensive it is or isn't. Tapping on the tubes won't really tell you anything. I'm so glad I found this old bike, so glad I could save it from oblivion. And it pays me back every time I ride it. The steel frame absorbs shock beautifully. We will not see its kind again.

That is a bargain. This Peugeot UO-8 70s bicycle will require TLC but there is certainly quality enough. Dig in.

I started volunteering at a bike coop and we see those parts often and practically give them away, except the cranks and pedals are interesting.

If you go at one of those rust spots and get to good steel without going to deep from the outside surface, the frame is probably fine. I've worked on a lot of rusty frames and I've never come across a bike frame that rusted from the inside out. Well, I take that back, my nephew fished a BMX bike out of Tampa Bay off the St Pete Pier. That bike was toast...LOL!

I would take the frame to de rust dippers and see what the result is

As an experiment it'd be interesting to sand everything back on the top tube and see how bad it is under there... I agree though, it looks pretty rough

So when you put a frame in the garbage all its going to do is sit in a landfill. Why not take it toa scrap metal place instead

You're right. I've got a few others that I'm saving along with this one until I can bring them to the recycling center.

Campy pedals and DuraAce crankset are too good for a rusty, mid 70’s Peugeot UO8, save them for a better and proper sized frame. You’re ahead on the deal, the pedals and crank are worth $150.00, when cleaned up !

Yep!! I committed to buying it and was very disappointed when I showed up until I looked a little closer at the nice bits that were attached to it. It has a first Gen Dura Ace bottom bracket, too, that's in great shape....except it French threaded!
