This show is closer to the feel of the actual comics X-Men than the 92 show was.
It really is. It’s hitting a lot of the marks I wished the old series did.
The X-Men was always a tough story, I’m so glad the writers are taking it seriously. They’re compressing years worth of story into half-hour episodes, but doing it WELL! This has blown me away so far. And I’m glad to be on this ride with y’all.
they have trimmed fat from every storyline lifedeath without rasta native american demon or forge standing next to gyrich as he depowers storm, they did birth of nathan/inferno without bad dad scott, e for extinction is a story the expanded on considering the comic handled what happened in 3 pages, they even took a storyline from an era fans consider the worst(nimrod+master mold=bastion) and made it better. this team of creators is killing it.

I’m actually glad that Wolverine is taking a back seat in all of this because he’s normally the focus especially when it comes to the movies. I’m glad they’re focusing a lot more on other characters.

Well that's where the movies made the mistake, they treated Wolverine like Pikachu for Pokémon, making him the mascot. The X-Men are a team and a family, everyone gets their spotlight.

He's in the photo with Forge in ep.4 --- He is actually seen walking across the camera in ep. 5 during the gala -- And the intro that shows Nimrod coming out of Master Mold's chest are all the major clues.
He's from the future -- a fused being of both Nimrod and Master Mold.

I also like how Bastion is opening the door to all sort of other possibilities. Gambit horseman of Death, Summers Rebellion, Onslaught. Everything is possible now.

@@AB-zl4nhshe’s Omega on her own. The reason why she can host the PF at full force is because of it. And she’s basically PF in the comics and is the most powerful incarnation of it (white phoenix of the crown, above green and dark phoenix). Only omega-level can host the PF alone like her, Hope Summers, and Kid Omega. Rachel Summers is the loophole as she’s not considered Omega nowadays but she hosted the PF for the longest time.
Emma Frost cannot host it at full power. The Stepford Cuckoos need 5 or 3 of them to host it. The Phoenix 5 storyline where Cyclops, Emma, Magik, Colossus, and Namor split the PF between 5 of them and had fragments only.
@@AB-zl4nhthat’s kind of like the problem with Jean because they always tie the PF with her, and people that don’t read comics think that she’s only powerful bc of it which is not true. That’s why I want them to stay away from PF for a long time and just let her shine on her own so that people can understand how powerful she is on her own.
I agree. The one thing I hated with TAS is their portrayal of Jean Grey. X-men evolution did right by her. No phoenix force and didn’t unnecessarily pass out from doing the bare minimum. But was also a badass with her telekinesis. This episode made me proud and hopeful for how they’ll keep portraying her
All I wanted when this show came out was for them to portray Jean as the badass she is in the comics and not Scott's pansy ass fainting arm candy like she was in TAS, and they hit that nail on the damn head every single episode! This show is awesome
If we ever get Avengers vs. X-Men in this series, it would set the world on fire!

I think they are building to an X-Men vs. Avengers storyline. They are already working on season 2 and 3, so they have a long-term plan in mind.

Every episode of XMen 97 is proof that good writing still exists, and we should celebrate it more. Everyone involved is doing an amazing job. Writers, artists, voice actors, soundtrack, everyone is doing gods works.
I liked Rogue's turn in dropping Trask; in normal superhero stuff the good guys don't do that. It's much more realistic for her in her anger and grief to feel justified in doing it. And even Wolverine agreed with her. As you said, this is no kids show!

That's the problem - anything the X-men or mutants in general even defend themselves; they get labeled as a danger & a target for elimination.

That would depend on the viewership of this show. Marvel likely doesn't have the confidence in making a theatrical release for characters that have only been seen on streaming. Especially one that follows a 90s series.

@@gabrielfarias6273 That was way before the failure of The Marvels (2023). Even this show's first episode didn't bother doing a recap of the 90s series. Hence, it's already a tough sell for viewers who are unfamiliar w/ the latter. As opposed to the Guardians who were being introduced to all moviegoers.
This is a version of Captain America that in the MCU's Civil War, would be on the accord's side haha
Crazy how this episode started like endgame did, pulling at the heart strings. Night crawler at the beginning had my stomach in knots talking about gambit.
They didnt just do comic justice. They IMPROVED ON THE COMICS. Like the comics they pulled from had good ideas but the way they strung then together is fantastic.

I have a LARGE feeling Bastion is planning on making Onslaught. He knows Charles is alive, he's keeping Magneto alive. It feels like it just fits.
I remember watching this as a kid and it made me cry. It made me upset when people treated the mutants so horribly and how wrong it was. The original series has a special place in my heart and I love how 97 has built the story arc from the source material and improved the storyline that serves every character well. One of the lines (of the many) I can’t stop thinking about is when Morph says “Is this who we are now?” after Rogue drops Trask. Such a great line. And in the previous series, he was a victim of Sinister’s mind control after he was abandoned and left for dead after a sentinel attack. Morph infiltrated the mansion and sought revenge for being left behind but he had a redemption arc. Rogue is in a mental state of vengeance. I love this show. So many layers to unpack!

Something thing I enjoyed about the series is how they included every character from the Marvel comics outside of X-Men.

Gotta be honest, I’ve never really been a huge X-Men fan. I liked some characters like Wolverine and Storm but for the most part X-Men never grabbed me. This show is what’s making me a fan and makes me wants to buy their comics too.

If the 90s series was like this kids would be emotionally wrecked. A adult story is not just gore, heavy profanity and sex. It drama and high emotion that hit hard. For a kid who take cartoons way more serious than adults it would traumatize them. Hell remember when Prime died in Transformers the movie. Kids was so effected their parents pretty much made the animators bring Prime back.
Well, thats why they saved Duke in the animated film too. Hence the "he's in a coma" extra line. Too many kids-myself included, emotionally wrecked.

Hell yeah! Been waiting for y'all's reaction since the episode dropped. It's wild that Captain America coming back in this show is actually *LOW* on the hype list for this episode. Dark Rogue is something else, good lord. So badass, and somehow even hotter than normal Rogue.
I think its also because, 90s kids who are now in there 30s/40s have seen Cap previously be in the Xmen and Spiderman series

This series was made for adult X-Men fans who grew up watching the 1992-1996 series who are in their 30's and 40's.
Definitely, not for kids.
And things are about to stay at 11 with Episodes 8, 9, and 10.
The X-Men, and mutantkind as a whole, are about to go to war against Bastion and Operation Zero Tolerance.
And Cable is the key.
He and Future Forge will be the key to stopping Bastion and his forces so that the dark future does not happen.
And there will be a schism in the X-Men.
After this conflict, things will not be the same.

Idk if yall noticed but Rogue pulled off the Divekick move she has from X-Men vs Street Fighter/Marvel vs Capcom!😮 same way she did her jumping Heavy Punch on a sentinel in Ep5. Watch some matches by the best Rogue in the world, VDO, and you will see what I mean.
it's rumored that Basteion (I am tripping his name to shreds lol), the new bad guy, is Nemrod, the super sentinal in all white that they keep showing in the intro. He first appeared in the original series when Bishop first came in and we had the episode where Wolverine and Storm were a couple. Nemorod is unable to die bc he can put himself back together in a matter of seconds, even though they defeated him he never went back to his time. So in theory, Basteion is THE super sentinal evolved.

That last rant can by cut/print/sent to Disney ad infinity. I think you summed up what we all are saying. They're doing this right, they respect the history and characters, and even their "writers bias" isn't full on "preachy". I just hope this show get the awards its due.
I just hope they get the original 92 voice actor for Apocalypse, if able and they bring him in. I want the final line of episode 10 to be "Look upon me and despair..."
John Colicos was the voice actor for Apocalypse...but he passed away in 2000....so they're going to get someone that sounds similar...like how they did for Cyclops.

The dude about shave Magneto's head and berating Sinister is Bastion. Bastion is what happens when a Nimrod class Sentinel from the future; follows Bishop back in time, and merges with the Master-Mold Sentinel. Basically Nimrod + Master-Mold = Bastion.

Waiting for your reaction on this one. You are absolutely right. This show is so great that it showcases the reality of today. And with Bastion and his OZT (Operation Zero Tolerance) you know it's going to be hell for both mutants and mankind alike.
Absolutely agree, they need to bring X-men 97 team to help developt the live action version in the mcu, so far from this series you can see the love and care they put on these characters and their story
