Agreed. But still there are so many questions about it. Why Magneto wasn't vaporised? Leach was holding on to him at that moment but Magneto did not even have burns or scars. How was it possible the ray penetrated his force field? Etc.

After this episode, I’m convinced that Fox has never done the one thing right: a storyline with a proper continuity and paying homage to the source materials that gave the inspiration for it.

@@predatoryzzx Oh maybe, I just quoted it from memory loll! But I remember vividly the sharp voice of Magneto and the feeling of awe I felt as a kid loll. Magnus was intimidating, but so cool. I had taped all the episodes on VHS and watched them so many times, such a good show :)

Rogue and sunspots decision makes complete sense after their whole arc
To think for a brief moment the wildest moment of the episode was Wolverine actually stabbing a flesh and blood person. No "they're a robot", no "they're not human", no "they're self-repairing cyborgs", for the first time across the OG series and '97 Logan's claws tasted human blood on screen. AND THEN THEY UPSTAGE IT SECONDS LATER DEPICTING ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC SHOTS IN COMICS HISTORY!

It’s not even a reboot. It’s literally continuing from the series established in the 90s, hence the name “X-Men 97.” The title is purposeful.
It is more a revival than a reboot. All the original is still cannon, they're just moving forward with the story.

What was most shocking about Logan losing his adamantium in the comics was that we all thought he lost his claws too. Up until that point his claws were supposedly cybernetic implants that were added when his skeleton was laced with adamantium. The bone claws were a big reveal later on, and then he and everyone else realized he'd been born with the claws.
Lol, Storm was triggered when Beast and Forge talked about neutralizing technology.

That they managed to blend so many storylines from so many eras - Inferno, Lifedeath, Operation: Zero Tolerance, the Genoshian Genocide, and Fatal Attractions into one arc while seemingly setting up Onslaught is just uncanny.
I'd have gone with Magneto and tried to persuade him to fix the planet. Like "Hey man, we still have some mutants down there. They're gonna die."
Magneto would be willing to sacrifice a few if it meant getting his way

They are taking everything from X-men comics history, from Roberto in his original New Mutants uniform, to Asteroid M, all the way to Magneto ripping the adamantium from Wolverine’s bones and body (X-men 25)…this is the series of the YEAR, in my opinion!

The thing about Charles Xavier is this: He makes his decisions, his plans, as though everyone else can read his mind and know his intentions. Which they can't. But he can't understand why people take issue with his plans, without realizing that they don't and can't know what he's thinking.
Magneto is legit right. Humanity in their universe has designs on genocide of mutants and he's not having it and wants to protect his people. How is he the villain when the governments of the world are conspiring to wipe them out? Wolverine says he declared war as if the attack at the UN that stripped Storm's powers and OZT/Genosha weren't declarations of war. I appreciate the layers in the writing. Great show.

I really do get tired of the X-men's sanctimoniousness. What do they want from him? They blame him for everything as if they haven't been fighting to survive extinction in a world that hates them. He legitimately tried it their way and it led to their country being destroyed. What is he supposed to do after seeing that the world governments have conspired against them and weaponized their citizenry to kill them all?
Good point. And what happened on genosha had an eerie resemblance of what they did to Tulsa 1921.
I still don’t think that justifies killing EVERYONE that’s not a mutant. It’s not like mutants are the only people in the world that are oppressed. Or do they not matter? What about the countless heroes who literally dedicate their lives to saving people and making the world a better place? Spider-Man deserves to die? The fantastic four? How far will this go? That’s not mentioning children, people that are in support of mutants and people with mental disabilities that would prevent them from even understanding this concept. Do they all deserve to die for the sins of others? I can’t help but feel that the fact that they don’t really show the impact of what your magneto is doing, or the people suffering from his actions, is making it really easy for people to side with him completely. I feel this show could benefit from a little bit more of (good) regular human perspective. I deeply sympathize with Magneto and forget the weight of his decisions. I can even understand where he’s coming from, and his position. I get why he believes that this is the only way. But what he’s doing is he still wrong. He’s too extreme and his beliefs. Xavier may be too idealistic, but that doesn’t mean that his idea is wrong or not possible. As he said, coexistence is messy and there WILL be issues. But if you ask me, that’s preferable to murdering billions(or at the very least, millions). He’s a villain with a point, but that doesn’t make what he’s doing right.
@@alexisdogbo7958 While I respect your position, the governments of that world are conspiring to kill or enslave every mutant (Bishop's and Cable's futures), and the superheroes of that world that fight alongside the X-Men are essentially letting it happen (alluded to in the Rogue and Cap interaction). A Holocaust survivor (Magneto) saying "Never again" witnessing history repeat itself and clapping back before humanity is able to finish mutants off is justified in my opinion. A genocide of a sovereign mutant nation already occurred and we know what the end result of this conflict is intended to be via Cable and Bishop. This isn't a situation where Magneto's unjustly escalating the conflict when we know what humanity's end game is and it came to fruition.

The DCAU in the 90’s was number one for me and the Marvel Animated Universe of the 90’s was a close second (mainly X-Men and Spider-Man). I think this show pushes Marvel over the top.

Yeah once gold team went up to face magneto I thought “holy shit they aren’t doing Fatal Attractions are they?”. When prof X telepathically attacked Magneto I was like “oh shit I think they are doing it” but when magneto wasn’t mind wiped I started to doubt it (though they still might use this to bring in Onslaught by the magneto red energy that prof had right after trying). Then when magneto went ham on Wolverine I knew it was happening. And yeah that last freeze frame shot is literally a redone version of the panel where it happened in the XMen comic.
Hopes where this is heading.
I hope that things continue to spiral for the XMen and they use the whole Magneto EMP thing he did to allow a captive mutant to escape Mur Island… Legion. Legion figures magneto is the reason for all these problems, goes back in time to kill him, accidentally kills Prof X and boom… The Age of Apocalypse!
And if they did AoA make it a whole season.

I had the comic book when Wolverine went for the kill, Magneto used his powers and somehow manipulated the anamantium metal and caused the mental to pour out of his pores skin, Xavier vegetized his brain and somehow mag's evil psychie and Charles dark side created the being of Unslaght from Charles.
I have a small watch party. We watch the episode and spend 2 hours theory crafting. This show is absolutely amazing.

I think the greatest testament to how good this show is, is that we lost Gambit in episode 5, and M-Dogg is still hyped.
Well it is pretty obvious Gambit is going to come back at some point. Either through time travel, or more likely Apocalypse is probably going to bring him back as one of his horsemen like in the comics.

The dialogue really slaps here as well as character development. It’s easy to see how both sides have a point and understandable why the characters do what they do. What I don’t think is talked about enough is that in many ways both magneto and professor x are wrong. Cyclops is the leader he is because he understands both perspectives and keeps the team going forward. You start to understand why he is made for that leadership role and why he can’t ever really walk away

We need an X-Men game. Disney needs to get on the phone with Capcom, Yacht Club (Formerly known as Wayforward) and Larian. We need Children of the Atom 2, an old school beat-em-up with Paul Robertson sprites, and an X-Men CRPG in the style of Baldur's Gate 3. Marvel could be printing their own money with these. Hell, one of them would feed a studio exec's cocaine habit for a lifetime.
We definitely need a X-Men Legend 3. X-Men Legend 1&2 are amazing! Until then, the closest thing is Marvel Alliance 3 on Nintendo Switch.
