I made this video on a day with winds gusting to 40 mph. Please excuse the wind noise.
The key takeaway is that the house can be mounted to the pole of your choice with a 14" long piece of 1" diameter EMT metal conduit.
Once mounted, the house can be removed at any time by removing one 3/8" x 6" bolt from the mounting post, lowering the house and removing one nut and bolt where the post and house meet.
    Thank you for watching.

My kids got me this same house four years ago. I bought the Tri-tel pole that goes with it on 1/2 off sale for about $40. They make a plastic ground sleeve that can be cemented in the ground so the pole can be moved or removed and I utilized that. The three section pole is aluminum and locks in place with pins they call "keys". I modified the pole to be able to only raise the house about 10 feet above ground level. In all honesty, these poles are fairly easy to raise and lower for a man, but I think most women would be unable to work with them. If fully extended i could see how the pole could be damaged during high winds, which is why I modified mine. Martins don't seem to mind nesting 9 - 10 feet off the ground.
They also make a gourd rack that fits this pole and it can be added underneath the house and I added one my second years. It holds up to six gourds. The Martins seem to prefer the gourds over the house and sparrows don't seem to be interested in the gourds. Next year I want to put up a second pole with 6 - 12 gourds and some type of hand crank for raising and lowering.

Thank you. No nesting pairs yet, just lots of visitors.

So you gotta tip it sideways to check eggs and clean sparrow nests out? Or are you just setting it and forgetting it?

I lower the house down to clean out the sparrow nests several times early in spring while the sparrows and martins are fighting for the house. I take it down in the fall and clean out the old nests. Thanks for asking.

The only update is that this technique works well and is still standing after the highest winds God has to offer southern Michigan. Thank you for asking.
