    Great Video. A little trick to prevent the sleeve from rotating or even coming out of the concrete at some point is to drill a hole through the pvc down low where it is embedded in concrete. Run a piece of rebar or pipe through this hole so that it extends out on both sides of the pvc. This will prevent it from rotating later on. Don't put the hole too high on the pvc or you can't slide the flag pole in properly.

    • @scottkayrouz236
      @scottkayrouz236 3 роки тому

      How deep on the ground rod and what are you using to bond the ground rod to the pole, if I may ask, Sir? #12 wire? Nothing too bad around here. The occasional lightning storm from hell several times a year here in Jeffersonville Indiana. Better safe than sorry.
      But then you have differences of potential between the power co neutral and the pole grounding. As long as it goes to earth ground. Better than nothing (?)
      What about this thing flying away, or someone ripping it down? A two year old can lift this thing out of the ground.

    • @raysway6050
      @raysway6050  3 роки тому +2

      The pvc pole is 24" deep, the concrete is all i used to keep the poles together. The idea is to be able to remove the pole in severe weather or high winds. You want to be able to pull it out easily when needed.

    We have a Stand Flag pole that is about two months old. Installation went well. Ours has pins that we have to put in every section when puting it up and take out of every section when taking it down. We have to line the holes up and that is not easy! Right now it's down because we can't line up the pin for the second section. Not much fun. Other than that when it's up the American and Trump flag look great in the day. Our stand light doesn't work well either.

    Should I get a thicker pvc pipe or is the one they send sufficient? Will only be leaning an inch or 2 above ground. Thanks. Diameter is so of pole so I can get PVC. It’s the collapsible one like this.

    • @raysway6050
      @raysway6050  3 роки тому

      The pvc pipe that is supplied with the pole is sufficient to use. I would only heave 1 " above ground. I went deeper and used a schedule 40 attachment to add depth just for security. However it is not needed. Although they suggest back fill dirt and sand. I would thing if you use the supplied pcv pipe and you use concrete. You will be fine. My video was overkill on the process. Good luck.

      No, the directions only require a 12 in wide hole and 18 in deep. Back filled with sand. However on Ray's Way I do things differently and want to make sure the pole is securely in place.

    So I did an 18 by 18-inch for my telescopic flagpole, which is 25 feet high, but I've noticed it pitches & rolls when it's windy. How can i stabilize it from moving? Should the boot & cover help?

    • @raysway6050
      @raysway6050  Рік тому +1

      I should pitch in windy days. You can either lower one section on windy days to reduce the sway. But. I just let it fly at 25ft all the time. I do not worry about it on windy days. I had no problems so far

      Well it was made to be removable. I did not consider theft. I would suggest drilling a 3/8" hole in the bottom pole section that you can run a cable lock through and attach it to an eye bolt that you can insert in the concrete base before it sets.

      Not really. There is a side load pressure on those poles like you wouldn't believe when the wind gets really blowing with two flags up there 17-25 feet. Most of us don't have time to baby sit them and take them in every time the wind comes up and we might not be home anyway. I have a Tele-Pole which are very heavy duty telescoping aluminum tubes. My holding pipe is in that deep and has worked well. I'm getting new parts delivered today after 20 years of use. They've ditched the plastic flag holder rings for steel ones with a bearing inside. The plastic ones will work well for years and years but will finally break--usually the top one on a two flag pole.

    • @edd7812
      @edd7812 Місяць тому

      @@David-oh3rh I have one of those telescoping aluminum poles too and it's worked quite well for a long time many years but finally some of the joints quit locking so I just taped them and you're right about the plastic Rings mine didn't break but they started binding to the aluminum even with some dry silicone spray. And it gets pretty windy here at times 60+ mph gusts, and I worry about my pole snapping so I usually take it all down. But I put a PVC tube that the bottom of the flagpole fits perfectly in, so I just lift the whole thing out and put it away. I also have one of those round flag pole solar lights that's worked really great for at least 6-8 years now with same batteries! 👍💪 FYI: my flag is flying upside down since the Trump decision to show we are in deep distress as a nation

      I had that issue once. I sprayed wd40 and let it sit be easy with it because it is mesdy Ny when you pit it bCk up it will get everywhere. Do not twist or pkace your hands on the plactic section piece. You may wNt to get another person twist the bottom section while the other twists the upper section. Again, hands need to be on the pole itself. Good luck. Let me know if it worked.
