At Brenda's home Brenda : oh grandma i miss you so much Grandma : i miss you too honey. Why didn't you tell me you were dating Jackie Chan's son Brenda : no... look at what his shirt says Mike's shirt : Best friends Brenda's family : get out !
Im actually getting a little emotional watching this video. I have not been home for a few years, seeing Brenda reunite with her family and see how much you love my country make me a little home sick. Thank you for visiting Vietnam!
Normal thing happens in Vietnamese families. May be it's a bit suprise to you guys, but for Vietnamese, it's a part of their daily life. Every families here's just like her family.
I love how he said he could fall asleep anywhere. I've always felt like a weirdo because I can fall asleep standing up. I have also fallen asleep leaning up against a speaker at a concert.
This reminds me of the tea ceremony at my son's Vietnamese wife's parents house. Very traditional thing to do I understand. Being served tea by my new daughter and giving the advice of an older husband. And the mother daughters, etc all got together to cook some of the most wonderful foods I've ever had the pleasure of trying! And this salmon dish that tasted a lot like very tender pork loin and gravy/sauce? Idk what it was, but we all raved about it! And this red rice for luck? And this traditional silk outfit my son had to wear as the husband-to-be. I posted a video of it on my channel. So this Vietnam trip of yours was a whole new..." trip" for me!
This is one of your best vlogs. The mix of travel and food is perfect. And, I love Vietnam. I truly love when food vloggers cover the travel part, as we need to find these places.
@10.31 We call it mimosa in Singapore and we had it in quite a number of places and I remember having sch breaks and going to the plants and just touching it... oh such joy (':
Thanks Mike for visiting my mother country and stopping by at my hometown CanTho City. hope you had a good and wonderful trip, cant wait for you to get back there one more time.
You truly a master of food and eating. Coming home from a 20 something hour flight, and what did you do, go out to eat a huge meal. I can't hang. Wow. Great trip. Love every single video. Thank you.
"...one of my favorite country to visit..." Thanks again Mike. So happy you love it. I will get to go back in March for 2 weeks to visit. I can't wait to visit the pho restaurant you visited.
One of your better videos, mostly because you tie it all up in NYC and everyone can identify with that welcoming feeling of your first comfort meal at home.
I was surprised how big the fishs were in that tank as well as the plant that closes once touched. I also got emotional when your friend visited her family. That was was awsome.
I have to eat before watching your videos or I get hungry. Thanks for another great video! I love watching not only for the food, but for the countries you visit. You give a more unique perspective on them.
Hope you do go back to Vietnam, it was VERY obvious you were impressed with the country and the flavorful food. Also, the vlogs were great to experience. Great job!
Nice BNB you guys and gals are staying at, I particularly like the black kitchen and views. Whenever we flew from Australian or British airports we would always aim to arrive 1.5 hours before the flight, might have even been longer as it’s been years but in Australia you have to arrive and check-in well before the flight as otherwise they won’t let you board. It’s so they have everyone boarded and their luggage on the plane and ready to go with minimum delays.
OH, DANG YOU WENT TO RACH GIA. Dang that’s my hometown! Place is beautiful man I’m so glad you got to go there! Love your videos man keep it up! I want to be able travel just as much as you man, such an inspiration. 😩
it was providential you stayed for brenda's sake. what a happy and sad time for her, to see her Gran probably for the last time.. i'd be howling. i have feelings about seeing Nam, i think of so many of our American GI's and lots of Nam Vets i know. i' am happy that it has finally found some freedom and a good Economy. love you Mike. i'm glad you're not traveling alone and you have your entourage following you faithfully.
My advice is you should arrive at the airport 2-3 hours before departing because the traffic from the city to the airport might be crazy and the check-in procedure in Vietnam usually takes quite a long time so coming early is much better than coming on time.
That giant fish in the aquarium is an Arapaima and it has been featured on "River Monsters" before. If you really want to know what it taste like you can find out in Peru.
Mike you can buy that plant in the u.s. it's called a lot of different things " shy plant, don't touch me and sensitive plant", are a few names. You use it as a decorative plant for your pond.
Oh my gosh !! You were very near from my grandma/grandpa away!! And on this long highway from Long Xuyen to Rach Gia there is a very good pho 🍲 (restaurant) where I always eat, when I fly to Vietnam 🇻🇳. So nice to see that somebody is so near to my family !! Great Video 👍
I have watched over 100 of your videos I think! But that moment when you tried to do the Asian squat with that woman.. my favorite mikey moment OAT!! Love you!!!
The Mekong Area ist absolutely my favorite in Vietnam! Can Tho, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, love it! The Food down there is the best you can get in SouthVietnam! And the people are fantastic!
They planned to visit her grandparents from the beginning. But because they missed the flight at first, they switched to go to the Mekong Delta and drove to Rach Gia instead of flying there. 😊
If and or when you revisit Vietnam, Hoi An and Huế are great places to visit. Hanoi is like a second Saigon/Ho Chi Minh but with totally different food and the weather isn't as humid.
I'm very happy to see you come to Vietnam. I hope next time you could come to Hanoi, it's totally different from Saigon but still full of good food haha. Nice trip, Mikey.
Mike!! The apartment that you staying look exactly like the lay out of my apartment OMG I think you lived in the same building as me!! Can't believe this!!!
Another person who likes to get to flights early. I literally got to a flight so early, the check-in desk wasn’t even going to be open for another hour. And then of course my gate wasn’t even announced it was so early.
I love your videos thank you for everything you do You do so much for us and thank you so much! I am glad you have so many channels and videos it helps! UA-cam helps my anxiety and it’s a huge stress reliever
when you started video its looking sad face but at the end of video when you reach newyork i got your smile ... take care for next journey ,don't miss flight .. nice video
Mikey, I've been watching your episodes non stop, because they seem to increase my appetite (no shit?). But this video was pretty emotional when your female friend went home. That was amazing to see :) Thanks to you and her for sharing that moment. Anyway, keep on doing what you do and you'll be N° 1 food reviewer/enjoyer in the world very soon. Always entertaining to watch. Keep it up mate!
:-) Mikey that was a solid upload. I could feel the Vietnam love through the screen even though you've been back from a very long time ago. Lots of laugh, lots of great food shots, all about those good vibes you let off from just being yourself on camera. You're happiness makes me happy. I'll tell you what though my dear youtube fav, don't just dig into your food like that. I believe that's where your throat problem came from. You travel alot and there are a lot of international germs that catch a ride on your hands :-) be careful Mike :-) Off note, as I was driving to school one evening I picked up two female tourists walking back to their place. They were about to pass through a shady area soo, I couldn't just leave them. Anyway, they're from New York and i told them that my favourite youtuber is from there and he always charms me with great food, so one day soon I'll go over we'll both eat ourselves silly :-) they laughed and confirm that the eating was great. So one day soon Mikey, after I graduate, I hope it all works out so we can do Bam bam noodles, dim sum, pho and hotpot. :-) and anything else I missed :-D
HA! I did the same thing. I missed my flight from Saigon to Hanoi because I arrived 39 1/2 minutes before my flight left. Luckily, they moved me to a flight 2 hours later for free.
Honestly it’s so amazing how far you and your channels have come. I don’t mean to bring up old wounds but I think you and Dan parting ways was a blessing in disguise. He only would’ve held you back and here you are traveling the world and creating even more great content. I’m seriously very impressed and looking forward to how much more your channel improves and grows. Happy eating, Mikey! 🍻 👏🏻

I love how he said he could fall asleep anywhere. I've always felt like a weirdo because I can fall asleep standing up. I have also fallen asleep leaning up against a speaker at a concert.
This man lives a good life. He misses a flight for a bowl of pho. I respect that.
That's the best vacation I've ever been apart of! These vlogs are so freaking Awesome? 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
So glad you enjoyed the trip. The videos have been amazing!

The arapaima that Jeremy Wade caught on River Monsters was easily more than 2 feet longer than the one in the tank.
My grandpa is 97 and still runs faster than me. I’m a college soccer player, and he still runs faster than me. Also he’s Vietnamese 😂
Existing Gamer must be the pho! 🤷🏻♀️

They planned to visit her grandparents from the beginning. But because they missed the flight at first, they switched to go to the Mekong Delta and drove to Rach Gia instead of flying there. 😊

Nice video, good commentary. Crossing those rice paddies was not fun in a monsoon when NVA 60mm mortar rounds were raining down from the jungle.

In Hawai'i, we call the shy plant 'Shy Flower' or 'Hilahila' and it's a nuisance weed - very prolific & invasive.
Greetings Mikey....cant wait to watch your videos...all da best for this year....love your videos
Thanks for visiting my country BRO, hope you had good time there.
