Aint this exciting. Love your vids, randomly found your channel months back. Love your style of content, authentic, a great mixture of foreign perspective and Vietnamese
they offer free delivery to your home for bill over VND200k. You wont need to carry all your stuff like that, just need to bring home fresh ingredients.
I used to shop at Lotte Supermarket when I was in Vietnam, and it always drained my wallet whenever my family visited. Now they have even more items than before! Thank you for the video that brought back so many good memories.
😍😍😍😍😍😍 this video is the candy in my eyes, love love shopping at the markets in Vietnam. Making me want to fly back. You should do more of these videos.
The raining season is finally letting up, so people are now actually excited to leave home (most homes have white ceramic tiles which makes mud and dirt really apparent, so people opt to have food delivered during raining season). Have you ever been to Aeon mall or E-mart? They're both massive malls, and i feel like it's the closest thing to an IKEA in Viet Nam
Lol, never expected a Westerner to master the art of hanging bags on motorcycle, but here we are, that was pretty impressive including that there are fragile plates and all those ceramic wares!
That scene from A Nightmare Before Christmas, where Jack Skellington enters Christmas Town and starts singing What's This, well that's me every time I go to a foreign supermarket. I get giddy
Fun fact: You'll get fine quite a bit (300k-400k vnd around 12 usd to 16 usd if I'm correct) if you get caught carrying those things on a motorbike. If you get caught too many times, they will confiscate your vehicle, and even provoke your license in cases. Of course, people still do it but fyi.
Nice, you know I live near 2 great supermarkets, a Lotte Mart and an eMart right in Go Vap district which only take serval minutes by motorbikes. I shop at both supermarkets with my mom.
Is yeast not a common or cheap thing to get in Vietnam? I’m coming to Saigon in 4 weeks I can bring an empty suitcase What can I bring for expats in Saigon and for myself? Should I bring ❤extra bed sheets, chocolate, kirkland Chewy proteín bars?? Thanks my name is Deborah from California
It's weird seeing my local supermarket on UA-cam. Lottemart is pretty good. Lotte is a Korean supermarket so it does carry a lot of Korean products. And the sushi sucks but the salmon sashimi is good. A case of poor rice & good fish. One thing that sucks about Lotte is that they change their display constantly. You wander around like a lost kid searching for fish sauce.
I am Vietnamese 🇻🇳 What is your nationality? Do you love Vietnam? Because every time I meet foreigners in Vietnam, I feel very happy and proud, so not just once but I invite you to come explore Vietnam many times. 😀🇻🇳😉
While we do shop in the newer Hyper markets (co-op Extra, Aeon) we do buy alcohol and import products either on Ham Nghi or simply online on Lazada. Saves around 20% vs the shelf prices.
Chad when you mentioned stopping at the studio, do you rent out a studio or workspace separate to your home? I work digitally and am interested in how much it is to rent a space as a work/production studio. Cheers mate
Yes he rent out this space for his kitchen studio. This place is very reasonable bc it’s not on the big traffic road only $350 a month for 45 or 50 square meters
@@thuykub1728 Oh wow thats very interesting, thanks for the update Thuy! I think it is a great place to be a solo entrepreneur and film content like that
Ngl, I really wanna know what it's like to work at the supermarket, especially the ones in D7. They certainly looks more interesting than working at a bank
This is so cool seeing how different it is than my normal shopping trips here in America. Chad, are there any products that have surprised you in their price vs in the USA? Either cheaper or more expensive than you expected?
This might seem a funny question but it’s bothering me! I’ve been to Bali and planning returning next year, loved the culture, food and everything about it. I’ve always wanted to travel round Asia and Vietnam is a place we’re considering for Christmas, however as westerners I suppose people would call us, is it crazy that we can’t/don’t use chopsticks?!? Would that be okay in restaurants to not use them? From one point I want to respect their culture and trust me I’ve tried to use them, but at the same time I want to enjoy my meal more than I want to mess around trying to eat with chopsticks!
At some places there will be spoon, fork, and chopsticks offered to you, usually a combination of the three. Not knowing how to use chopsticks won't get you strange look, but it will be inconvenient. In more established diners/restaurants, you can ask for knife and fork. But if you want to enjoy food on the roadside, in 'hole in the wall' establishments, etc. (which I believe is the true Vietnam experience), consider taking up using chopsticks, or bring with you a bunch of 'assisted' chopsticks (those with a spring at the end).
Damnnn... took you how long to get the bike license and actually guts to ride through the traffic ? this would be the same place to grab all the instant coffee for my daily work, though i have to plan ahead since im going vietnam 2wice a year 😆🤣 should do a video on how you gotten the license and how you rode your fears off, im pretty sure its frightening the first time
This is somewhat strange. Seems like the prices are very close to what they are in most western cities in America. Where are the savings ? I don't really see them on this supermarket trip.
@@mattydocs5306 I lived in D7 for 5 years and there is heavy traffic and traffic jams as well as large trucks. I think you might be talking about Phu My Hung areas but either way spending $50 on a good helmet could save your life. I like this channel I find it interesting but a $4 helmet is just a cheap plastic hat for police. I would hate to see something happen and he ends up injured or worse. A 3/4 Andes helmets is $30 and he drives right by the shop in his videos. Always ride safe.
You should really look into getting a tuk-tuk, that way you can haul stuff, and your family and your future clients...🤔..and it's still considered a motorcycle.
You might want to tune down the background noise quite a bit since they’re blasting all the hit songs in the background. UA-cam sometimes flag your videos just because of that 2 seconds of Sabrina Carpenter lol
if you drive a motorbike you need to watch out big vehicles not drive too close to them Big vehicles are often don’t see motorbikes well we called blind spot all killed or dead
I remember going to a super market in HCM all I remember was the mall looked it came out of Jackie Chan's Super Cop movie and I made the mistake of going to the restroom and finding out there's no toilet seats or toilet paper lmao
There is also the option to install a storage container at the end of the bike, but I think in a family of 4 there won't be enough space for his children to sit.

The most difficult part of speaking and learning Vietnamese is the tonal inflections. The accent marks completely change the word.

It's a good thing that we have a stable country, the main reason why the shelves in markets/supermarkets are filled with consumer goods.
