Lots of great footage and photos, but that f'side on the Thrasher cover was the best of all. I had it on my wall for years before I even knew it was Jay. I say it's the best because it was like 90-92, and he was still f'side slashing with his knees in his face like he was 13.
Fucking best video yet, TR! This is the stuff that needs to be documented cause so much was underground and just forgotten. Even with his notoriety and crazy antics, things get lost after all these years. Thanks for keeping those times alive. I'll never forget jumping in the back window of the art center D.O.A. show with him. 1980 I think? I was second in the window right after him. Jay had already spray painted "Punk" and "Fuck you!" on the wall. I stared at it for like 3 seconds maybe? Looked down to the stage and he was in a fight with Henry Hample who was in the Schematix or one of those SC new wave bands. Saw him later on after the show when I got drunk and broke into that little hamburger place that was on the corner of Front and Laurel. I was hungry, so I was trying to light the stove, when I hear this "What the fuck are you doing? Shhhh!!! Get down!!!" in the dark. It was Jay! Hadn't seen him for hours and we accidentally broke into the same place. He said: "Fuck that, help me with this!" He had duffel bags filling them up with hamburgers and cheese. I started grabbing bread, too. He said "No, just the good stuff!" I don't remember how we got back, but ended up at the crew house on 14th ave. Crazy times. I think you were at that show, Meekster was there in the alley with us before going in. Frank V, too. Maybe Brian the champ? Shit you might have been going in the same window. I was already drunk. That's how it was though. But Jay was full-on, all the time, as far as I could tell. Fucking radical. I admired that. Still do.
He's not a punk that's a load of crap you should take that crap down and all the comments R.I.P you didn't know him ? You people are just wishing this man R.I.P because it makes you think of your own mortality and so you can look caring, posers all posers :p
I apologize for being "that guy", but I read some later interviews of Adams, and he turned into a bible-thumping bigot, and I haven't looked at him in the same way since.
Which interviews? Legitimately curious. How can you judge a mans character based off of a couple interviews? I’m not about to judge someone without knowing them personally or having actual evidence they’ve hurt people
@@SaintLoser314 I'll look for it. It's been awhile. He was just naming groups of people he thought were going to hell "because the bible said so" and I find that pretty disgusting. He puts down the needle and picks up the bible, lol. Yeah, that's a new one. Dude was a great skater, and he shaped what the sport is, but he lost my respect for him when I heard him denouncing people he doesn't even know.
@ Fair enough, I can’t justify that. But at the end of the day those are just his opinions and merely words. Unless he acted on those opinions and hurt someone those were just his misguided religious beliefs. For example, my mother thinks I’m going to hell for being queer but I still love her and don’t blame her for being brainwashed. I’ll look for those interviews myself. Thanks

He was just a kid with a skateboard…. Why ya gotta put pressure on a dead guy.
He’s honoring his memory and keeping Jays stoke alive. I don’t think Jay feels any pressure
