In “What Is The Most Famous Ollie Ever Done?!” We sit down with two of skateboarding’s greatest Ollie’rs of all time, Aaron “Jaws” Homoki and Jeremy Wray. How did we get here? After Jamie Thomas sets the record straight that the most important trick ever done in relation to skateboarding’s progression. Is the Ollie done by Alan Gelfand and Rodney Mullen, we asked 20 or so Professional skater’s who they thought had the most famous ollie ever done. Not the greatest, highest, biggest, fastest, longest, shortest or slowest…the Most Famous ollie. The most recognized and memorized ollie of all time. While Jeremy Wray is mostly known for his Water Tower Ollie, he has a few other great ones; for example the iconic San Diego Sports Arena Triple Set Ollie or the quadruple set! Jaws was a little more difficult to narrow down, he simply has too many! When it came down to it, several piers as well as Aaron himself, said his most well known and biggest ollie is the massive Louisville blocks from the cover of Thrasher. Now this sparks a whole separate debate: are ollie grabs considered ollies?! If so, would that make his Lyon 25 stair ollie melon grab his most famous ollie? Debate it here! Jeremy tells some rad stories, one particular stand out is the Daniel Harold Sturt story of how he poached Danny Way’s legendary helicopter drop in! Some other famous stand out ollies mentioned are the Don “The Huge” Nguyen El Toro 20 ollie, Reese Forbes Ollies, Ali Boulala ‘Flip Sorry’, Jamie Thomas “Leap of Faith”, Frankie Hill, Corey Duffel, Aldrin Garcia, Jake Hayes, Danny Wainwright and more. As administrators of this page, we have to admit we are shocked that there was no callouts for Kieth Hufnagel (RIP), Jim Greco Carwash Gap, Mark Gonzalez Gone Gap or Josh Kaspar ollie from Osiris ‘The Storm’! If you are a beginner, use this video to learn how to ollie!

I love everyone arguing whether Jaws did an ollie down the Lyon 25 and Jaws himself is like "nah, I did a melon grab" lol
Hahaha
Yeah it is pretty funny and his reasoning about its easier to keep the board stuck to your feet makes sense too. it was also cool how he was like “nah, I want to let Ali have that Ollie/Lyon”.
@@wolfpecker5710 💪
@@Dee-nonamnamrson8718 no he didn’t. His first attempt at the Lyon 25 was in 2014 and he melon grabbed it and tore his MCL. He then went back in 2015 with Ali and every single attempt was a melon grab!
@wolfpecker5710 I went back and watched it, and he does melon each time. I could swear I remember him olling the first few tries.
Not sure if Jeremy Wray knows how many people he inspired. I remember being a 6 year old kid in some cow village (Kuhkaff) in Germany watching this clip on THPS 1 in 1996 and thinking: "This is wizardry but it's real and if this guy with the baggy jeans can do it, so can I". Got my parents to buy me a board and started skating. Met the best people, had the best time, had the worst injuries, don't regret one shred of it. Jeremy, you are THE man.
True!!!
So glad he's still getting his flowers all these years later. I had his trick tip VHS in the 90's 🤣
Wish we still had a Hot Skates in my town 🥲
Ebenfalls 😂 wir haben auch alle in nem kaff im ww angefangen. Geile Zeit
Straight up yo!
Same! His ollie specifically in thps got me into skateboarding. Watching it in slow motion as a 411vm clip unlocked after completing whatever that challenge was in the game blew my mind as a 9 nine year old.
Gotta love how Billy Marks' only cut in this video is him complimenting himself😂
Haha 😂
And it definitely wasn’t a 15 flat 15…
He was joking obviously
@@PatrickATLSk8 I counted... it was an 8 flat 8...
He did the same thing in the best Kickflip video!
The fact that Jeremy did the Water Tower AND filmed for the trick tips video in one day... teaching kids how to skate, and dropping one of the gnarliest hammers of all time... gotta love that.
So epic
I used to watch that trick tips video as a kid, it's so crazy learning as a 38 year old what he was doing earlier that day!
@@coryhoffman358 he's using the same deck!!!
That water tower Ollie makes my palms sweat every time even though I’ve seen it numerous times and I know what the outcome is. Most iconic Ollie ever. Nothing will match it.
Legendary
mom's spaghetti.
Jaws' Thrasher cover down those big block stairs is absolute insanity.
💯💯💯
I live in Louisville and see it everyday. Videos still don’t do it justice. I’d say it’s probably taller than the Lyon 25
@@CannabisMaximus02 🙌
True that
@@CannabisMaximus02 came here to say the same, that spot is stupid high.
I’d say the water tower was what got me into skating. I’d be scared to run and jump that, now on a skateboard? Hell no man. Legendary clip
Sick!
I'm 55 and haven't ridden a board in 40 years. I was never that good, but I never get tired of watching pro's like this. It's mind boggling what training and nerves it takes.
Its nuts.
Me to bro I love watching my son skate and love seeing the community together
Skaters are the best and are always keen to share with the next generation I love this
@@danielirvine7468 🙌
I used to pride myself on jumping big stuff in my early years. In my 30s it's now something I don't really do anymore. Just love to skate no matter what
Get this man in a “I used to skate” vid, pronto
I wore out my VHS tape rewinding and playing the water tower Ollie so much; it now looks like the ‘better call Saul’ opening
Epic
IMO the water tower gap is the most insane. The factors if you don't make it.. The effort it takes to do each attempt, having to jump across each time after climbing up, a 40ft drop if you fall.. it's so impressive
💪💪💪
Jeremy Wray's water tower ollie is the gnarliest by far.
💪
I LOVE that Atiba photo of Jeremy & the triple set. We used to skate the double all the time back in the day & we’d stand on top of the triple & say it was impossible. Jeremy Wray was Superman for landing that.
So iconic
"I would say I didn't do an ollie, I did a melon grab" had me cracking up, I love skateboard people. They have the best outlook on life, mostly.
Haha
seriously love this series. Both Wray and Jaws are deserving of this, only deciding factor is if you like distance or height more
Thank you!!!
Jeremy is such a savage that he for sure thought someone would do one up his water tower ollie by now 😂
💪
I read that someone went there awhile ago, before it was unskateable, to try to kf it but couldn't even get the guts to ollie it first.
Closest thing to one up that might be Corey Duffels kickflip over the Mt Baldy gap?
I agree with jaws. The best ollie would have to be one where you risk death. Kind of like how the most famous climber is alex honnald and rightfully so
Seeing Jeremy and Aaron talking to together like that was so wholesome. 2 legends ❤
So sick
100 % ❤
Good to have everyone give Jermey the props he deserves. He inspired us all.
🤝🙌
100 % ❤
Interesting that Wray does the first jump off the right foot and the second one off the left foot. That's some switch legend right there.
👀
Did you spot that in some other video? The ones shown here are both off the left foot.
Saw the water tower video at like 12 years old, when first getting into skating. Blew my freaking mind. Its hands down, undoubtably, the gnarliest and most iconic ollie of all time.
Epic!
Brother I'm only 9 mins into this video and I'm so fascinated by all the stories and names the guys tell. I'm like 33 now and never got to land any Ollies, maybe 1 day.
🙌🙌🙌
That Jeremy quad set was in my high school! No lie, no one would ever think about ollieing that front quad set. It is massive and even took a while to walk up and down it! We always hung out on those side concrete slabs. Kicking it and would never imagine anyone ollieing that thing. In person it is massive!
Epic
This channel is awesome. I dig the format and love how it highlights singular events instead of just a montage of random clips.
Keep it up!! 💪
Glad you enjoy it!
Jaws is a monster. Jeremy Wrays water tower gap was and is legendary but so was so many of the tricks he had documented. I’m old and nostalgic about that era of skateboarding.
🙌
Can you imagine being that family at the bottom when Jaws Ollie’s those Louisville blocks? Every time any of them go back there they’ll always tell people “you’re not gonna believe this but I saw some kid jump this on a skateboard, and roll away.” I wonder if they ever found the video of it or if they have any clue of just how huge this was for the sport. It’s very possible they asked Jaws his name so I think the odds are good they’ve seen the footage too
Right?!
Fun fact: jaws had to go back to the Louisville Ollie because he broke something his first time there. Also, it’s insanely big in person!
@@jshredad6217 after this comment I realized I recognized the rail from another video. Back in 2002 we had a local video premiere(Chicago area. The video was called “A Midwest Video”)and one of our hometown heroes 50-50’d that rail as his ender. To add to it Neen Williams was in the background celebrating when the guy rolled away. Neen had the last part in the video, this was probably more than a decade before the mainstream skateboarding world knew about him. The video is on UA-cam if you wanna look it up. To be honest I liked Neens skateboarding more back then than I do since he’s been pro. Back then he had a lot of variety in his tricks, it wasn’t all heelflips and pop-shuv’s. If you type in “Steve Fauser Midwest video” the first result will be the part with the 50-50 on that rail, it’s the ender. The channel name that posted the video is “blogafonte.” You can also find the whole video that has Neen’s part in it too by typing in “A Midwest Video blogafonte,” Neen has the very last part.
@@EDCsteals I forgot about the video! I remember the Steve fouser and early neen days. I was real young in those times. A good friend of mine did boardslide on that 20 and Chris Kay’s ollied it way back too.
@@jshredad6217 no way you’re from the area? I live in Mundelein(north suburbs). Yeah I was 12 back in 2002
I love this “storied” series. I don’t watch many UA-cam videos nowadays, but your social shorts had me reminded to come here and watch this today. Great work!
Thanks so much!
Lol Billy Marks : "15 flat 15"
Lol
Honorable Mention: Rick McCrank switch ollie a big double set (can't remember the video, but I still think its fuckin sick)
@@iTROLL2Yeah Right …Joslin nollie flipped it.
@@berrybestlifestyle9188 Yeah Right! part
his yeah right intro section . front 180 then switch olie down 1000 stairs
The way Jaws lands some of the biggest Ollie’s ever and it barely looks like he took impact shows how crazy the ones where he does are unimaginable
Insane
Love that Billy Marks mentions himself hahahah
So funny
The ender of Diego's "Good and Evil" part deserves an honorary mention.
Also, talking about long distance ollies, Jeremy Wray did an insane back 180 in Barcelona in "This is my Element". It's his only trick in the video and has always stuck with me, yet nobody ever mentions it.
Oooo true
That was heart warming to see Jeremy and Jaws discussing their own - and each others sublime submissions and contributions!!! 2 different but equally unfathomable forces of nature when it came to pushing the limits of what has been possible to achieve on some wood with some wheels attached.... Thought J Wray's colour part intro ollie could have been included too just for the freakish distance, but I think like Jaws I can appreciate they simply both have too many mind blowing examples to recall - their CV's are stacked full of obscene stunts :D what a fantastic piece Storied!!!
So sick!
9:06 I wonder if any of those kids standing there started skating because they saw that ollie. would be such a rad inspiration
💪
I love that my town, Louisville, is in conversation for the greatest ollie (or not) of all time. I've gone down those stairs MANY times, in fact I rode a four wheel bike that rented nearby down them and almost rolled and broke my neck, so it is definitely a special place for me, I just wish I had seen him do it.
So cool!
I still get absolutely terrified every time I see the water towers running jump. If he trips or missteps, it’s over. Absolutely bonkers
Insane
3:21 And that's why I love Jaws lmao
Yup
He's so real. People say it's the most famous ollie and his response is "I did a melon grab."
@@Pandemos AND HE'S CORRECT
To be honest, I think some of Jaws' ollies looked harder, BUT I think Jeremy's is the more famous one, and still scary as all get out!
Great input
I was 16 when Jeremy did the towers. I have seen lots of folks do lots of things since. But there is just something about that Ollie to me , that hasn't been matched since.
Epic! Gotta grab one of the signed boards 🙌
I know a lot of people have done tricks on El Toro but Nuge’s ollie is up there for me. The water tower ollie is the clear winner for me though.
‼️
Love this! Thank you for getting pros together, talking and sharing amazing stories about skateboarding :) Always amazing content and you are the best Chase ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Regardless the Jeremy Wray or jaws. Iconic skateboarding. Both brings lots of eyes and attention to the rawness of skateboarding. Love the storied videos. Thank you for this
Couldn't agree more!
When I was a kid, it was Leap of Faith and Lyon 25, both failed attempts. But Wray was definitely the best make until Jaws, and likely after
🙌🙌🙌
👍 agreed!!
The water tower is epic. Backside grabs were my go to do I knew I was set before landing, but Jaws off the apartment with no grab is next level.
All crazy
The watertower is beyond sketchy. Imagine hitting a stop-rock right before the gap... J-Wray is a legend.
Nuts
Leap of Faith, Lyon 25, El Toro ,HollywoodHigh over the Fence and much more to come... 😅 I've tried the Leap of Faith on my Cali trip back in the days.. never gonna do that again 😮
💪
From Danny Way to Jeremy Wray, still inspiring people anywhere from roller blades to ski's to grab at their feet for some reason.
🙌
Watching all this really makes me wish I could still skate. I miss always searching the canvas for a fun spot to drop in on. I can remember being by myself with no one around and trying crazy stuff that no one would ever even see. It was just all about skating.
❤️🛹
The fact I've seen the water towers ollie makes me believe that's probably the most famous one. I've never really been a fan of skateboarding, always a BMX fan but I have so much respect for skateboarding and that ollie over the water towers was insane! Jaw's is insane as well though, had I seen those back in the day I'd be saying they were tied haha. No way my legs/back could take any of those landings. Different breeds for sure!
🙌
Jeremy’s Ollie in the Color video off that sidewalk bump that blows that kid’s mind is a classic too.
So good
The Jaws block spot is in Louisville, KY in waterfront park. I drive by there 4-5 times a week. Went to go look at it once after seeing the clip, that gap is insane. Those big block steps are much higher than they look on film.
Insane
I was always the one among my friends that could ollie the highest. When my friend group expanded out we met Greg and he could also ollie super high. It became an unspoken rivalry between us. It's the best thing to push people to strive harder when you meet someone at your level.
🙌
I love that the guy who did the sketchiest ollie in skateboard history ends the video by saying, "stay safe out there people." What a bunch of humble legends these two are.
Lol
So glad to see Jamie Thomas at the very beginning of the video. When I grew up, Jamie Thomas was the authority on the top Ollie tricks.
Very cool!
the two Ollie masters side by side!!!
Legendary meetup
Oh man, all these guys are legends Weather they did it this way or did it that way you and I didn’t do it and couldn’t do it. These guys are legends ,Period.
When people that have never in their life had the balls to even try these things want to chime in I cringe.
Jaws , Wray , Shecks ,Cole , Frankie Hill, Duffy and so many others too many too name should be the only ones to speak on this. At least in a positive manner.
You guys have elevated skating to hights never seen before. Thank you brothers !
Wish I could meet n have a beer with some of you dudes.
Thanks for the memories guys.
Peace.

💪🙌
That Ollie Chima did a few years back was pretty sick.
Very sick one
So fucking long
Seeing the water tower ollie on THPS1 as a young teen blew my little mind. I had seen skate videos, but I hadn't seen that. I just couldn't believe it. It was so rad.
So iconic
The gap Mike Maldonado ollies in Welcome to Hell is one of my favorites.... but Kien Lieu has the best ollies in general
True!!!
I came to mention Kien Lieu, the master of ollies! He was my inspo for bigger ollies 🙏
That one over the rail was insane too thst Aaron did
Yep
these videos are unmatched
🤝
Since I saw the jaws block Ollie clip and photo I’ve always considered that the most insane and biggest Ollie of all time. Idk if jaws will ever be outmatched. Absolute legend
💪🙌
Bob Burnquist's ollie to fakie in the Dreamland part definitely deserves a mention
‼️‼️‼️
100% vert and bowl get no mention. It's street stroking each other off
If we count vert, I remember a fakie ollie from Tony Hawk in 1989 that is the sickest thing I have ever seen IRL.
Don't think he ever did one like that on video ... He reached an almost weightless state over peoples heads.
I show these videos to my wife. She doesn’t understand how awesome growing up skating in the 90’s/2,000’s in north county SD was. She’s actually starting to get it. second hand smoke was such a dope video. Jeremy destroying the Carlsbad gap still sticks with me. Think it premiered at Speckles in SD. Good times. Nostalgic AF.
Hell ya
"Jaws" answer to his Ollie being the most famous, is priceless!! 😅 Classic jaws! 🤘🏼
So good
jeremy wray is in his own league. water tower is just something else
🙌🙌🙌
Finally!! Waited the whole week for this video
Love this channel btw, keeps getting better and better
Glad you enjoy it! 🙌
Billy marks shouting out his own trick 😂😂 funny af
😂😂
I live in Louisville, I’ve stood on top of that set jaws ollied and it is fucking massive. Absolutely bananas.
Insane!!!
That new one with that kid in Florida is a contender honestly
Could be right!
Jace’s ollie down the Miami leap of faith should have at least been mentioned. Other than that, no complaints.
True!!!
For real! Idk how this wasn’t even mentioned. Its literally the highest Ollie off of something, it was measured and it is several inches higher than the leap of faith
I’m glad my mind went straight to Wray and Jaws. The water tower was my first thought then I just kept thinking about everything Jaws did lol
🙌🙌🙌
what a great back/forth at the end!
So cool
Every single one of these are absolutely jaw drop'n.
Jaws* dropping
Ali Boulala was my answer. Glad he was mentioned.
🙌
8:51 one of our hometown heroes 50-50’d that rail back in like 2001-2002, the one Jaws says David Loy wanted to skate at the blocks. All these years later and I recognized that white rail and knew I saw it before. Dudes name was Steve Fauser from the Chicago area. If you type in “Steve Fauser Midwest Video” his part will be the first result and is posted by a channel called blogafonte. The 50-50 is the ender.
Edit: can’t believe I didn’t think to mention Neen Williams was in the same video, this is over a decade before he started popping up on the radar of mainstream skateboarding. Actually when dude lands the 50-50 I think you can see him celebrating after he lands it
‼️
If you type in Analog Obsolete skateboard video, you’ll find Steve slamming terribly from previous attempts on that Louisville rail. Neen also has footage in the friends section.
@@mattimaranda9638 yeah I remember that video too, I used to watch it on VHS when I was a kid
@@mattimaranda9638 actually there was another one even before that, Something For The Kids
Donger's ridiculous ollie over the newspaper stand (by Deville Nunes) is the winner for me... it's my favorite skateboarding picture ever. Not death defying like Jaws or Wray, but Donger has Danny Wainwright's height with Jeremy Wray's distance. Sean Sheffey in Life's Soldier Story is worth an honorable mention too.
Very true
The kids “what!?!” down the big block Jaws did. Next level.
Haha
I seen Jaws melon grab off the roof of my local foodland a few years ago and it was the greatest thing I have ever seen in real life

1:17 what a goofy goofball 😂
Lol
Great vid! Most famous ollie I guess is lyon if we’re counting it. If not, then water tower. Gnarliest award also goes to water tower in my opinion with the Jaws Louisville block thing, and again lyon if we’re counting it, tied for second. Honorable mention to the Sunset car wash ollie!
Thank you!!!
3:29 Knew it, so genuine.
🙌
Born 1980 grew up skating and for me and a little from my generation it s most deff Jeremy over water tower to water Tower was talked about for years in all the world in the skate cometity ✌🏼💯
🙌
I picked up one of those Wray decks. Better get yours before they run out!!!
Thank you!!!
The simple fact that skating and internet were not connected at the time of Jeremy's Ollie, it's by FAR the sickest
Good point!
You are so wrong🤣🤣🤣
Still got my watertower poster in the garage, one of my fave thrasher covers
Hell ya! Gotta get the board to match 😜
After Jeremy dropped that gap, he opened the door of unlimited imagination.
💪
I love the Storied series, thank you .👍
Thank you!
On another note, Jeremy Wray's flatground ollie were and are stuff of legends. The missing sidewalk block ollie is still the largest, flatground ollie, I've seen.
True!!
Anyone who was skating when Jeremy’s Ollie came on with the Plan B industry section will agree that was the best Ollie of all time. The Louisville Ollie with Jaws is very close. It’s right across the street from the skatepark and I’ve stood up there and got vertigo looking off and down. It’s mind blowing.
🙌🙌🙌
For me it's the Leap of faith, but I'm 44 and skated back in the 90s and I'm not up with my info on the new guys. When I saw the Leap of Faith it was insane. That Jaws dude is insane though that that would have been mine had I been skating when he was doing it holy crap.
🙌
I think the accumulation of Jaws massive Ollie’s alone is enough to earn him the top spot. Add up the distance in height along with length and I’m not sure anyone could ever match it. I think the timing of Jeremy Wrays water tower gap is what made it so iconic. Skateboarding was kind of larger than life in the mid to late 90’s. It just doesn’t feel the same anymore.
🙌🙌🙌
Wow man Jeremy Wray, put some Respect on that name....he seems like the nicest dude 😎😎😎👍❤️
The best
Duffels Ollie was pretty insane too , Jaws will always be known for going big. The water tower is history/legendary at this point though.

True!!!
Thats wild that the ollie is the most recorded trick ,killer
🙌
The first one by Alan Gelfand, followed by Jeremy Wray’s water tower gap. He almost died for us, JW doesn’t nearly get the props he deserves. Coolest one is Jon Shanahan doing the Ollie off the apartment awning in a Bronze video.
