      four winns was never a great brand. In this era Baja owned the other brands in price/perceived quality. four winns. crown. wellcraft. they were somewhere between the bayliner and the baja's which were all just looking up to Donzi's Fountains and Scarabs.

      @@phoenixarizona8441 uhhhh 🙄 no.!. I was probably conceived on a boat. Been on, own and around boats since I was born. A boat of that size, weight and stock 350- not going to do over 70mph……. A small tunnel, pickle fork might squeeze 70 with a small block- but ur talking a complete different design and purpose. For that boat to see that speed it would have to be a built small block. Cause even with a prop aimed for higher speeds- the boat would fall on its face trying to get out the hole to even get on plane and reach that speed.

I never had one, I did have a cobra and when OMC was going broke I went to rebuild my drive and I used a seal kit from OMC and most of the “O” rings were the wrong size. I ended up taking it to the dealership to get rebuilt. That being said I think there are lots of parts available for them now. This was before they were bought by BRP and before Sierra and others started making lots of parts.

    Marine engines sitting 10 years get a oil bath in all cylinders. Soak 1 day, turn 90 degrees, soak 1 day for every 90 degrees then it's ready to crank, fresh gas can to fuel pump. Clean cap and button, fresh plugs, and a cheap lite oil and filter change. Remove coil wire, now crank till oil pressure is up, coil wire back on. Go for launch. These will it start vids without consideration of the rotating assembly. Yes it will start after you rebuild it because you busted the rings on stuck cylinders and wiped out the cam bearings because of no oil. Better yet, time the motor, number 1 TDC, pull distributor and drill up oil pressure with a extension tool.

    Do yourself a favor. Get it running and sell it. Fourwinns Liberators are great boats. I own one myself. But yours has the OMC version of the Chevy 350 with 260hp. The problem is with the OMC outdrives. They blow up very easy and are almost impossible to find parts for. Most parts end up having to be fabricated. Then you have to find someone who is willing to work on OMC stuff. That wasn't an air filter It's a spark arrestor and it prevents back fires through the carb from starting fires. You're probably going to have to replace the exhaust manifolds and risers too. If it sat that long the runners are going to be rotted out and they will make the engine overheat. Also better replace the water pump impeller located in the outdrive because that's gotta be dry rotted for sure. There's no way on earth that boat ever saw 70mph unless it was when it was being towed down the highway. It's a 50 to 55mph boat on its best day with a small block.

      It kinda chaps my ass that all I had to do was get a liberator with a 260 hp 350 and an omc outdrive and I could have been doing 70 mph. LOL
      Thanks for pointing out that with that combination 70 mph would only be achieved while being towed.
      My boat was a lot faster before I took a gps out on it. It ran 60-65 mph on the speedometer. The GPS lied and said that I was really running about 45 mph with a Volvo Penta AQ290. I got it up to 58 when I put a 383 stroker with a blower on it and the same 290A outdrive.
      I just put a 525SC built to 600 hp at the crank with a bravo one drive. I have captain's call with a 4" exhaust, a drive shower and exterior hydrolic assist steering. According to my mechanic there is more power to be had by adding a intercooler and changing pullies. That would also mean I would have to change the outdrive to a Bravo XR. A lot of time, money, trips to the lake, adjustments and tweaks to get to this point. It's been about 3 years to get all the bugs worked out. I've ran mid 60's and it was starving for more fuel. We put bigger pick ups in the fuel tanks this past winter. When we would get just above 4100 rpm it would start coughing and was staving for fuel. It's setup to run 5200 rpm. At WOT. We should get close to 80 if everything is right with the set up. Even at that we may still have to ad some k-planes to help stabilize the boat. A boat from the factory running 40-50 mph in the 70's and 80's was a fast boat.
      There are bass boats, cats, center consoles, even rib boats that will do 70 and above but their price tag will reflect that as well.

      @MadBiker77 3 роки тому

      you sure on that about the OMC outdrives?? cause the Cobra and King Cobra are easy to find parts for. i have one in the UK and it was easy as pie finding bits for it. most of it off the shelf or shipped from the states. the older OMC outdrives that the whole engine and drive swivelled are the pain in the ass ones.

    Dude you should never use starting fluid or carb cleaner to start a dry engine that's been sitting that long. Use some 40:1 fuel with two stroke oil in it down the bowls of the carb. It gives it at least some kind of lubrication. Brake clean, carb cleaner, starting fluid is a real good way to wipe a cam lobe. Also causes cylinder wash. Not good.

    if thats a 350 mercruiser - should be 260hp. It will have power steering. It it doesnt have power steering - its probably a 305 - 228 hp. thats probably a 260 horse 350 ci. HE said 23 ft. Looks about right. That boat will do low 60's probably.

      @levberiv first, it's not my house, but then I asked myself why this waste of life is commenting on people's videos, then realized he has no videos, no life and probably no house and family of his own. It all makes sense. My God....
