The show Isn't good but I've been supporting it. Writing is cringe at times.

I enjoyed the show. The show exist in a separate universe not connected to the "Arrowverse" shows (so why the whole crisis on infinite earths crossover???) The Superman in show is not the same as in Superman and Lois. I am a comic book Naomi fan. . In the comics she is the first pure blood baby born with powers that is why my man wants her. The cover of the 3rd issue is titled "Who Am I?" . The show does follow her comic story with a few major charges. in the comics, both parents know, about her they also know about Dee and the adopted father is from another planet. I agree that the show can go in any direction that it wants. I am hoping she becomes the protector of her earth and gets her own group of villains but It will tie into her new comic book because Bendis and Walker are writing the book again and they worked on the screenplay. Bendis made her a player in his run of the Justice League but he is off the comic so we will see where her JL experience goes. In the latest JL comics, it took the entire JL to defeat Zumbado mainly because his planet weaken Superman.
I hope the tv show is good. The character looks kinda Lackluster. Maybe it’s because I wanna see grown characters

@@AlternativeFactuals so I watched 4 episodes now. I like it for what it is. I’m still waiting to see her get her abilities and kick some ass. They got her out here weak and they tend to dim black girls beauty just like in Batwoman. The woman who plays her Javicia is a dime piece and they got her with ugly clothes on talking kinda masculine dimming her light. She’s a sex symbol.
Why does every black character have to be surrounded by someone other than black people. I was hoping this show would be different, but it appears it won’t be so I will not be watching it. Just another show to farther the lie that black people have to have to a non black benefactor to be successful, super powers or not. Keep it.

The show was a hard watch for me. While it is well shot, at least up to the standards of other CW shows, the character is poorly written. She checks all of the CW and Bendis character boxes, becoming unrealistic and unrelatable. If this is a comic book accurate depiction of the character then Bendis is trying way too hard to be a universal ally. Brilliant, popular, bi-sexual, skater, army brat, black girl being raised by non-black savior parents, in a love rectangle with two boys and a girl, each from a different ethnic group. It just seems very heavy handed. Why does everyone love this girl? Because she's the main character and that's all? It's like they combined all of the characters from The Runaways into one new character. I thought I was done with the CW after Crisis and season 6 of The Flash. I really like Supes and Lois and Stargirl so I thought I'd give this a shot. Especially with a black female lead. This just does too much too soon yet not enough to make me relate to the main character or care about her. The first episode focused more on her crushes and her being a part of all communities than her getting her powers which we didn't even get.
Agreed. Like why are they afraid to give us black parents?💀 Full BLK parents? Like why do BLK Characters that are successful also always have to be apart of the Police force of some short, but also be BLK Lives? Like the pure hypocrisy and delusion.
I agree with what you are saying and I think the realistic part of comes from the actress playing Naomi (Kaci Walfall) being black herself and of similar in age. She might not have gone through the exact experience she is portraying but, there are other young adults at that age who are so, I think the point of doing the show this way is to reach out to them and have them know they are being noticed. If that makes any sense .

I loved Black lighting but it for too political to make it. I can’t stand the silliness of flash but it thrives so I guess you are right.

I’m going to give the show a chance. If it sucks then I’ll be disappointed but if it’s a good show with a little dash of SJW it’s fine because it was well written. We shall see

Everybody should view the first eps of all shows like this.
I didn't see the pilot but I recorded it to watch when I can. I just hope it does not resort to all the usual "woke" CW cliches ( the token gay character, at least one interracial relationship, all the men being either corrupt, ineffectual, etc). I hope its good but since I'm unfamiliar w/ the character I will defer to the people that are as to how faithful it is to the source material.
