if you watch toddlers pick something off the floor, they almost invariably squat down to it instead of bending over.
Thanks Will, another good video. Wish I had met you 40+ years ago before I got into the beverage & also freight delivery business. Hope you are doing well today & thanks again for your help & guidance.
Thank you so much, so pleased you enjoyed my video - I am doing very well thank you, I hope you are too! Sending best wishes :)
Thank you. I am working on this now
Wishing you all the best!
Good ideas, but knees give out after a while. I protect my back as I have had a lumbar fusion and followed by a decompression.
Dr Harlow s videos and tips are full of practical wisdom to follow and practice.
Thank you Doctor 🙏
So pleased you've found them helpful!
Thank you so much for showing a proper lifting technique. So many people tell us to never lift while bent forward, but you really only need to keep your spine neutral and your core tight. There are a lot of things that you may need to lift from the floor. You can't do that with a vertical spine, lol.
Absolutely - it's all about remaining stable and adjusting your position to suit what you're lifting!
I'm late '60s and hurt my back 6 weeks ago helping my hubby lift some timber off the ground. I'm still in pain and I'm never lifting anything ever again !!
I wish I'd found your wonderful channel 7 weeks ago 😉
I'm sorry to hear about your lifting injury - I hope my video tips can help going forward!
😂 Thanks Will.
Though I know all these facts.
Seeing you demonstrate the correct way after showing the mistakes made, helped me identify my mistakes!
I hope u get some relief soon💜

Thanx a lot for this useful illustrative video...will be helpful in day to day activities where we tend to lift things wrong way👍👍👌👌😊thanx a ton and stay blessed always🙏🌹❤️😊
Definitely - it's easy to forget the proper form when we're in a rush, but it's always worth the extra time to prevent injury!
@@HT-Physio absolutely true👍🙏❤️thank u one more time..all the blessings Will 🌹
Hi Will! Love all your postings!! Any chance to do one on safety negotiations of stairs? This is especially an issue for older persons!! Thank you!!
Hi there - I have the following video which may be of help! ua-cam.com/video/DDP_2Z3ipVA/v-deo.html
@@HT-Physio Thank you!! Must have missed this !! Much appreciated!!!
I know this sounds crazy, but I had lifelong adult lower back pain until I was prescribed hormone replacement therapy at menopause. Since taking estrogen I have absolutely zero back pain. I am a former gymnast and I’m 58. I did a full back bend over a yoga ball the other day very risky but I was fine. I’m never coming off estrogen they will have to pry it out of my dead hands haha
Good info. Thanks.
I wish my doctor would prescribe it to me. Convinced a lot of my pain is because of this
@@juliettestamp6933 See a natural hormone replacement specialist. Life changing.
Thank you sir for all your meaningful n smart tips . I love your channel which has taught myself how to bring about my own body safely. Thank you vvv much. I am happy to have found you as my best physiotherapist! Thank you, well done.
Thanks for the reminder of the proper bending and lifting technique.
Very happy to be of help!
I've just bought your book. Hoping to live by it !
My spine is dreadful
Thank you for purchasing my book, I hope you find it packed with valuable content!
Just got your book today for my birthday (my wife is clearly worried about me becoming old and knackered!). A quick flick through it and I'm already impressed, but I think it'll be easier to read than implement; physios must feel like teachers (as I was) - 'I'm telling them all the right stuff, why aren't they doing it?!!'
I hope you find my book full of interesting and useful content! And absolutely, the motivation and patience to implement the lessons is always the most important (yet challenging) part - hopefully, used in conjunction with my videos, they can help boost the motivation to action them!
Thanks so much, Will. I planned on asking my PT how to pick things up on my next visit. This is one less question I'll have for him.
So pleased my video was able to answer your question!

You're very welcome!
Thank you, Will. Now I understand how my 83 year old mother probably got her lumbar spondylitis. I have shared your videos with all my relatives and friends.
Thank you so much for sharing my work, I hope they find it beneficial!
Hi Will, thank you so much for that demo on how to properly lift things from the ground. This is something we should be shown to children from an early age. The thing is to remember it when you’re going to lift an object, lol. 😀
Absolutely, it's imperative! It's definitely hard to keep it at the front of your mind, but hopefully once it becomes a habit it will stick!
*Your #1 Fan*
Thank you!
This will help me because I have a bulging disc or two, plus flattened discs in my lower back.
I hope my video proves beneficial for you!
Was taught since I was a kid from my dad "Lift with your legs, not your back." But to have more detail of how to have my spine when I do this helps a lot. 😊
Absolutely - it's always good to have it clearly explained so that we understand exactly how to put those important lessons into practice!
Thank you so much for the excellent lesson, Ive paid the price for not lifting properly over the years
I'm sorry to hear that you've felt the impact of a lifting injury previously - hopefully any further injury can be avoided using this guidance! Wishing you all the best!
👍👏🙏
