Just woke up at 24.30 with a slight pain in my left calf , tried your stretching advice ...can now go back to sleep By the way I'm 79.. your videos keep me alive.!! 3
Thank you Will for addressing people over the age of 50. Your exercises are very user friendly, easy and you explain the steps very well. My challenge is being consistent about doing the exercises. Our age group really need these exercises to keep us going and improve the quality of our lives. Take care.
I am 68 years old and have been struggling with some hit pain over the last few years and after doing the first 2 stretches just a couple of times( I guess especially the second stretch), My hip pain has virtually been eliminated! Thank you so much! I have never really been big on stretching, But all that is starting to change!
I believe I would be almost dead by now without these exercises. I have serious health issues, and it's extremely difficult NOT to sit around. Your channel keeps me going.
I'm sorry to hear about the health issues you are experiencing - well done for the efforts you're taking to put my advice into practice - keep up the great work :)
Maybe take a look at the carnivore diet to ease/clear your health issues, it's doing wonders for me. It's quite a life shift but I'm finding the health and weight benefits amazingly helpful.
Yes, I started to like his accent as well. Nice to listen to your thorough and concise explanations, Will . Always a pleasure to watch your very helpful and informative video.
Great job Will! I love the way you narrate and patiently explain every step. I can see that you love what you do! I have been feeling better mobility overall after following your exercise steps for over 50 people. Good job! thank you!
Quite literally these three areas that you covered on this video are my three problem areas and all of these stretches are helpful, especially the shoulder one which I had no idea about. Thank you very much.
Wow, you’re so right on these three! I am 50 and fitter than most (running, yoga, some strength training and very healthy eating) - but these are exactly the areas I already have had issues with. I am mich better when I work on all of these three regularly. Thank you so much! Great validation of my experience! PS: tried all your three exercises now. They are all very good but the shoulder move is spectacular! Very grateful to add that to my toolbox!
So pleased my video was able to validate what you've found out for yourself! Wishing you all the best and I hope these exercises can continue to offer benefit :)
finding your 3 exercises is precisely what i needed to adjust these 3 areas. like to think of you as a star connection of the universe as you’re bright light shown in today; thank you for your service and attention to inspire others for good. an example to be followed
I appreciate your videos! Makes it simple in my mind to do a little something each day. It’s easy to be overwhelmed knowing there’s a ton of things I shld be doing. Your videos pop up and at least I’m motivated to follow and take action. Thank you!😊
I can't believe how much good the calf stretch did for me. It helped me feel more limber. I can't get on my knees at all even with a pillow, but the calf stretch seemed to open up my hips and feet as well as my calves. I will do this one every day.
My husband had this at 65, he did the saline injection (puff up) which helped, he only did one side too as stuff went all through his system! Also beware too much TV sitting leads to rounded shoulders (his prob) as they'll eventually curl in!
That second one is the interesting one because I see that so often when people walk around in a slightly bent forward position and usually they have lower back issues so this makes perfect sense and I never knew that
I've been carrying out that calf stretch as part of my regime to treat a bout of plantar fasciitis I contracted on holiday so it's nice to know I've been listening to what you've been saying since I started watching your videos😂
I'm sorry to hear about your plantar fasciitis but pleased my advice came at a useful time! I hope you don't encounter any more issues, but just in case, my channel is always here!
Thanks so much for the great videos. Every one I have watched has been quite instructive and easy to understand and follow. I’m a retired Physician Assistant and I appreciate and admire your clinical references to the benefits of the exercises and the problems that develop when they are not done. I am 72 years old and have many debilities because of sdvanced arthritis in my back, shoulder and hips. So learning from your videos have been both motivating and therapeutic. Thanks again.
So pleased my videos have been helpful - I think it's important that I explain the theory behind my suggestions to allow individuals to make informed choices about their care - I hope my channel can continue to offer support and motivation for you :)
Brilliant: crystal clear, informative and easy to follow. Bought Will's book THRIVING BEYOND FIFTY and that is my movement bible alongside his 3-TIP FRIDAY. Thank you Will hopefully you will change my mobility and thus my life, Susi
Thank you for your support of my work, I'm thrilled you've found my content helpful - I wish you all the best with your mobility and keep up the great efforts you've already been making :)
Thank you. So much.I have Plantar fasciatis in my right foot For many years. The first scratching In the video. Did miracle immediately I feel much better can walk more comfortably. I will continue this regularly.
Thank you! I'm right on to it now and feel alot of tightness on my calf, doing this stretch on a daily basis will align and help positively in my walking . Appreciated!❤
Ive trained the 65 plus crowd for the last 15 years. I was pleasantly surprised when you started with the calf stretch. I do this first with every client. I see poor dorsiflection affecting their balance the most. Wrist and ankles. I cannot emphasize enough. Good video!!
I'm 57 years old and was hospitalized with an acute illness. I recovered, but by the time I got home, I lost a lot of muscle mass and my fitness and flexibility decreased significantly. I want to do something about it but I'm overwhelmed with where to start. Everything needs improving and it feels like an impossible situation to overcome.
Just knowing'a great start, you've alot of work ahead of you and no dought your body's starving for exercise. Keep at it regardless of how little, you've only to know how your life will be if you don't, everyday we hear of people who were so fit yet still had some big problem causing failure, no need to be a hero, I'm 63 and off to Newfoundland soon (I live in Montréal) where hubby's sure to marathon drag me around, I know I'll survive it's trying to communicate with the locals which instills fear 😱 in my soul! Best of luck keep at it failure isn't an option!
Lots of great workout videos on UA-cam from chair workouts, tai chi, dumbbell workouts, etc. 2 of my favorites are Denise Austin and Fitbymik. I also do a sitting dumbbell workout at my desk at work . Just start slow and you’ll build your strength back before you know it.
I was in a similar situation at 59. I lost so much muscle I could barely walk and my energy was completely depleted after just a few steps. It was 4 years before I felt really fit again (I am now back to playing competitive sport), working regularly with my physios and my personal trainer from really baby steps. Just do what you can, a little at a time to improve strength, flexibility, mobility and agility. Sometimes it feels like it's 2 steps forward and 3 backwards, but with patience (and kindness to yourself) and perseverance, you will get there. Don't give up, you will get there!
Good to hear ur feeling better. De-conditioning is soooo easy. Muscles take months to develop but only days to lose. It sux. But one day at a time, sml steps, sml goals n dont lose heart, good luck💜🤞🙏
and when 50+ becomes 65+ stretching becomes even more important. I stretch calfs (calves?) and hamstrings every morning and still some mornings my feet feel seized going downstairs though strangely they think they are ok to run a short distance with the dog an hour or too later. For shoulders, chests, arms i would recommend exercise bands. Mine are outdoors on a hook in all seasons are are only just starting to deteriorate after about 3 or 4 years. I think my shoulders are better now (and said dog led to one rotator cuff injury when he was younger).. Check the displays at Decathlon if theres one near you to work out what resistence level you want.
Haven't worked on calves since plantar fascitus 4 years ago. Boy are they tight now - only managed 20 secs so will do some 3-4 times a day. Hip flexors/quads are tight/painful down the front so I sure need those. I'll look up quads, sure you'll have done video on those or in your book. Then at last an exercise of yours I don't think I need - no problem with shoulder rotation, a part of me that works normally, I feel like celebrating! Really appreciate your help Will, thank you.💚
Plantar fasciitis really sucks. I have flare ups, and they really limit activety. No running at all, and even walking can be a challenge. I also have tight calves and hamstrings. I've always had those tight muscles. And it seems that plantar fasciitis and tight calves could be related.
These 3 stretches really make me feel that I am actually training my muscles. I have long time problems with achilles tendonitis. The calve stretch is one I have done many times before but now I realise never the way Ishould have. Bending the front knee makes all the difference. Wow! Great video. Thanks!!
Will thank you for explaining how if we don’t breathe possibly when exercising that a message is sent to brain which tells it to block and thus cause strain on the particular exercise. So helpful indeed Tks
Absolutely!! Great video 💯 Not stretching my calves before and after running led me to developing Haglund's Deformity; a nasty, painful bonespur where the Achilles meets the heal. Had I done the stretches, I'd avoided a lot of misery. That said, I'm stretching my calves, hamstrings, and hips every day, and although I still have the bonespur, it no longer hurts!
Thank you SO much for sharing such valuable instructional information. Your presentations are extremely well done, with detailed guidance. Outstanding!!!., I purchased your book from Amazon. I am confident this will be an invaluable resource to help me exercise and remain physically active as I age. Thank you very much. Kind Regards, Joe
Is it ok to do the shoulder exercises if I have impingement and arthritis of the shoulder? I have no rotator cuff injury. It’s hard to get that arm behind my back higher than my waist. Thank you for all your help keeping us mobile
Thank you so much for your very enlightening videos! Please teach Yoga asanas we well, asanas are much easier to do with same benefits. Since they are much easier to do, there are more chances of starting, continuing and making them part of routine
Fantastic! The hip flexor stretch has been a game-changer for me over the past couple of years. I have very tight hips with IT band and piriformis issues, and this helps with all of these areas. This is the BEST channel! I'm 51 and loving it! Thank you!!!
With your third suggestion for shoulder mobility, is it okay to put pillows under ones neck. I noticed you are able to hold your head up throughout the stretch.
When I was 66, I had a bodyboarding incident that ended me up in the orthopedic surgeon’s office. Without going into a lot of ugly details it turns out I have stage 2 to 4 osteoarthritis in my knees. The key exercise my sports PT had me doing are those you’re showing here. I am 69 now. I do the kickbacks while I’m brushing my teeth at night. 60 to 90 each side. However, long it takes my toothbrush to go through its cycle.😆 whenever I add a band, it seems that my knee slips out more often. OA has worn down the edge of my tibia. I don’t know that all bodyboard again, but I’d like to get back in the ocean and maybe stay out of big waves. I would like to get back on my mountain bike. I would love to see you do a series of exercises based on certain sports. What exercises you would recommend for instance, for cyclists, specifically mountain bikers, hikers, and kayakers. Loving the audiobook… Thanks, Will!
Are there exercises to preserve vocal cords. My voice started getting rougher over a year. I have excellent doctors and specialists. None came up with vocal cord atrophy. They did refer me to an ENT who did a laryngoscopy and diagnosed vocal atrophy. I can't be understood on the phone. I asked her about ths cause - old was her 1st answer. I have complex but not debilitating health problems that may have also contributed to tbe problem.i am fortunate that the hospital where I receive most of my care has a voice clinic with ENTs and physios providing care. There are exercises that can help (and prevent) deterioration. I never knew tbis was a problem before it got bad. Apparently doctors don't think about it if you have long term deteriorating hoarseness. I know age changes the body but as your videos show, it can be delayed
I have a right Hand and right lleg knee pain. Tq. for these strengthening exercises. 🙏 I had Carpal Tunnel right hand surgery & right thumb surgery last year. Now I have right toe finger pain. Tendons pain always Give me your kind suggestion.

Can you swim? Swimming will allow you to build muscle in the whole body and buoyancy helps when you are weaker. Then move to exercise out of pool

Excellent Will ty . Really felt the calf stretches

Thank you so much for sharing these 3 important exercises. I have tried it and found them very, very good!!😊👍🏻
That's great to hear, I'm so pleased they were helpful!
Three excellent stretches.
I'll try them when i can!
Great work!
Thank you! I will do the exercises!
Wishing you all the best!
These 3 stretches really make me feel that I am actually training my muscles. I have long time problems with achilles tendonitis. The calve stretch is one I have done many times before but now I realise never the way Ishould have. Bending the front knee makes all the difference. Wow!

excellent selection, thank-you, Will
You're very welcome :)
Will thank you for explaining how if we don’t breathe possibly when exercising that a message is sent to brain which tells it to block and thus cause strain on the particular exercise. So helpful indeed Tks
So pleased my video was able to provide some interesting information!
Very good stretches . Thanks
Absolutely!! Great video 💯
Not stretching my calves before and after running led me to developing Haglund's Deformity; a nasty, painful bonespur where the Achilles meets the heal. Had I done the stretches, I'd avoided a lot of misery.
That said, I'm stretching my calves, hamstrings, and hips every day, and although I still have the bonespur, it no longer hurts!
I'm so sorry to hear about your bone spur, but it's great to hear you're no longer experiencing pain from it! Keep up what you're doing :)
Great video, big help, thank you young man!

I just turned 49 and im going thru changes but im going to try to do the work to stay healthy
Every little helps!
Very informative thank you really appreciate
Thank you. Great advice!❤
