Yes! Amazing stuff, thanks Alan and Samo another gem of an interview! An interesting point about jazz and music in general is the fail factor and the passion to go to the edge not just musically but in meeting new musicians and taking risks of course in a good way but being adventurous!

Great interview Samo. Alan and Jimmy Haslip, Chad are preparing and negotiating a HD release of the Yoshi concerts they did with Allan Holdsworth. Apparently they recorded 4 nights and the dvd release picked from the 4 nights for the previous release in standard dvd definition. The new releases will be staggered over 2 years and also have a limited Blu ray release and or streaming release on various platforms. negotiations are ongoing.

Beautiful interview. Interesting that he thinks so highly of george Russell. I was amazed to read that Russell went from NYC to Oslo in the 60s and became a mentor of Jon Christensen and Jan Garbarek. Speaking of ECM…

NEW RELEASE UPDATE: The Yoshi Shows
OK, so the news about the upcoming release of the 4 complete Yoshi's shows is out.
Here is what I can tell you so far:
    1 - What are they?
These are four complete concerts shot in 2006 in HD, at Yoshi's in Oakland CA. An edited DVD version of these shows was released in 2008. Over the next two years, we will release all four concerts in their entirety.
    2 - When?
"Soon". Various discussions are still ongoing. The first concert is ready to release, and it should be available this year, once we finalise the business things.
3 - How will it be released?
We are still working on this. It will be via a streaming platform, but whether that is via a large scale streamer (Netflix, Hulu, etc) or via a "pay to view" streaming platform is something to be determined.
4 - Will it be in HD?
Yes. We are also planning to do a limited release on Blu-ray. Sadly Blurays don't sell very well anymore (except in Japan) so we won't be doing a very large run.
5 - Who is supervising the release?
Everyone who was originally involved is also currently involved. Eric Dorris as the director, Jimmy Haslip, Chad Wackerman and Alan Pasqua (as the players). I am also involved, as the representative of the Holdsworth Estate.
6 - Will the Holdsworth Estate receive income from this?
    Well, duh.
While I do find it heartwarming about how concerned fans are about money going to the Holdsworth estate, please just relax. I do nothing without the advance knowledge and consent of the Holdsworth family, and I only act for their benefit. (I also receive no payment or benefit for anything I ever do).
There are many other things I cannot say yet: we do have a verbal consensus on a lot of the distribution details, but nothing is written down in contract form yet. I have more meetings this week.

Is there a release date now?
BTW I have all of AH's albums except velvet darkness (deliberately) because of the aforementioned.

Samo are you aware of the guitarist that came into the New Tony Williams Lifetime after Allan Holdsworth left? There was another guitarist for about two to two and a half months after Holdsworth that did a leg of touring with Tony Williams, Alan Pasqua, and Tony Newton.

@@SamoSalamonMusic Yes! Marlon is a friend of mine. I was hoping you would have asked Pasqua about Marlon Graves and the very end of New Lifetime.
