A brilliant artist.
2:03. Yup.
O homem está no Brasil...
incredible rhythm section. uh
Sounds like Primus heard the opera punk!
Would it be possible for you (Samo) to list the musicians & albums Ethan mentioned. I was able to catch some of them and Goolge them, but some of them I don't think I am hearing clearly and can't find. This might be a good thing to do for all of your interviews.. listing the musicians and their albums mentioned. Thanks
You know
Really good list.
Nice review! Thanks :) Samo, I guess you are an expert in Dolphy music. I'm new in jazz music, but I already have found a lot of interesting albums. My favorite subgenre is "mix of modal, hard-bop, a little bit structured free (as Grachan Moncur III), spiritual and something else". My favorite albums are "Eric Dolphy - Out to lunch", "Andrew Hill - Point of departure" and "Grachan Moncur III - Some other stuff". What could you recommend similar to these albums list? - Eric Dolphy - Out there - Eric Dolphy - Iron man - Eric Dolphy - Out to lunch - Herbie Hancock - Empyrean Isles (especially last track "The egg" - Andrew Hill - Black fire - Andrew Hill - Judgment - Andrew Hill - Point of departure - Andrew Hill - Compulsion - Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue - Jackie McLean - One step beyond - Jackie McLean - Destination... out! - Grachan Moncur III - Evolution - Grachan Moncur III - Some other stuff - Wayne Shorter - The all seeing eye - Sun Ra - The heliocentric worlds of Sun Ra - Tony Williams - Life time (1964) - Tony Williams - Spring Grachan Moncur III and Tony Williams (at least) have some free-jazz fragments, but they aren't free at all. I'm trying to explore some albums in free-jazz. Started from Cecil Taylor and Albert Ayler, but it's a little bit difficult to listen to them. I'm sure that I will like them later, but now I want to find something similar to list, I gave earlier. If you know something like them (preferably from 60s), please share with us. In your new video, or here as the answer for my comment. Samo, thank you again and good luck ;)
not many can play doubles in time like Sonny
Great interview, loved hearing those stories and references of players that he’s worked with that i have always loved. Randy is a monster player just fantastic, and a super nice man. I feel very fortunate to have worked with him on one occasion. He brings many influences to his playing style, very memorable night it was.
I don't know if it's just me or is the music out of sync with the visual...the sound is ahead of the visual action which is annoying as phuck!!!
Wow...that's a coincidence. Before I watch the conversation now. I've had Becca as the main act in my playlist all last week. I've been following Becca and her brilliant development for 10years. If Becca looks here in the comments. Billy Childs did it again recently with the HR Bigband. Laura Nyro interpretations But now quickly to your chat.excited🎉
highly advanced cat, Mr. Niewood, lots of miles left on his musical adventures, thanks dr. jazz
Yessssss
What an amazing story! Love it! Peter is my favorite drummer.
Love Zenon, hes the perfect middle ground for me between Dave Binny’s sweeping arpeggio sound and the Garrett bright, rhythmic alto sound.
LEGEND.....
too much notes with a tiny sound
Great interviews! Keep up the god work.
Month and date?
more about us and less about me. no flat 13ths were harmed or reharmed in the composition of this comment.
Excellent interview and concept! Eric Mc phearson gave us tremendous Infos about music beyond the scene! Thank you!
Lovely conversation!
🤗🤗🤗
❤🔥💪❤🔥💪❤🔥💪 Wird sofort verschlungen! Danke!
Thank so very very much Mr Bierach I really appreciate it
WHACK! whack! Chad Wackerman, what a name for a drummer, whack, caught Wackerman with Allan Holdsworth in the 1990’s, guitar, drums (WHACK) and keyboardist who also played left hand bass, Holdsworth was so great of course but Mr. Wackerman seemed to play one long, long solo through the whole show, very interesting approach, obviously very creative and free within the trio’s concept. Wackerman (WHACKed) that snare drum boy, inspiring concert, drummer good, thank you Dr. Jazz… WHACK!
Thanks so much, I've always loved this album and this tune in particular is some of the most amazingly trippy and soaring and beautiful melodies Kurt ever wrote, and this solo is a perfect fit to the tune..
Hi Samo, please interview Petter Eldh! Love your interviews and the work of Petter. Greetings from Chile
Yessss good idea :) txxxx
👏👏 Try to have a chat with his bandmate Mike Miller too.
Being planned :)
Heh, ahhh...I cannot believe that this guitar is still hanging together. Bravo : )
Great talk with an amazing musician. It seems this channel has all my favourite people.
this is fantastic, thank you so much!!!
wow! Yeah. Danke!! Mein Frühstücksfernsehen heute! ❤🔥
I've been a big fan of Chad Wackerman for a very long time and he's one of my favourite drummers ever as well being in my top five of all time, he's got a unique way of playing that he can make everything and everyone around him sound fantastic. His solos are always a treat to hear live and I've seen him 3 times with Allan Holdsworth, he is a true marvel. His solo albums are equally impressive which capture the spirit of Holdsworth, Gong and Zappa all in one. Wackerman is more than just a brilliant drummer, he is a thinking man's musician and a great composer in his own right. Excellent interview and good to see him still out there doing what he always does best
Beautiful interview ! Chad is such a great musician and human being and I've seen him live with Holdsworth several times ! Thanks !
#438 - are you kiddin‘? Beato for breakfast. A Chad Wackerman interview…that’s wonderful! 👏🏼👏🏿👏🏻👏🏽
I'm a guitarist but have been a fan of Chad's ever since I started listening to Zappa over 30 years ago. It's only lately that I've started listening to Holdsworth as well. Fascinating interview with an amazing musician! Will be checking out some of his own albums now.
This is awesome.
Congratulations on this hit. Love always Patricia ❤❤😊😊
interesting artist, the first couple of minutes of the interview i thought, ok, a talented rocker with some jazz guitar chops but then opened up with story after story of Mr. Randy Johnston's associations with super heavy jazz cats, gifted talent and hard, hard work, good Warne Marsh stories, saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist/composer Anthony Braxton was a big fan of Warne Marsh too! good one Dr. Jazz,
Yeah, Randy is fantastic... should do more jazz as well, great player!
Very interesting discussion, thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing this!!
does anyone know the name of the last tune ?
Flicker.
@@TheNarfed Thanks! :)
It's from the wonderful album Silent Movies.
Song just before is Lush Life also
L’ange Jaco Pastorius est perché sur son épaule...😊
Very cool, I just got the e-book based on your introducing me to it. So if I'm turning 70 in 4 years that means I have to go through the whole book by then? 🙃
Beautiful... haha...yesssss ;)
This reminds me of Van Gogh, who refused to paint in oils until he learned how to paint with watercolors, and he refused to paint with watercolors until he learned how to draw.
Jocelyn Gould to the TOP
Great Nat, humble guy Great lesson
I have seen him in London cafe Oto, just managed one day of to. I think it changed my life forever
another great interview with an inspiring, travelled and highly accomplished jazz guy, bassist, boo boo Nat Reeves, hey Dr. Jazz, your interview style is fantastic, you seem to bring out a certain kind of personal “grass roots” elements from all your interviewees!
🤗🤗🤗🤗
