I have e90 and e46 M3’s with an n54 135i as my daily. I find myself driving the 135i 90% of the time. Love it.

Just found your channel. Bought a 135i, alpine white like yours, about the same time this episode came out. Came with most of the bolt ons already, and have now gone through all of the maintenance issues (including some extra ones) Previous owner put n20 and some off brand coils on. That just got fixed. I replaced the already installed catback exhaust from Yonaka (which developed a hole at one of the hangers) with a used HPF i found local. I replaced the shot BC racing coilovers with KW v2 and all of the control arms and tie rods with SPL in the front and Bimmerworld in the rear.
A problem you may experience after 100k which I found, is the engine going into limp mode on hard pulls. Was diagnosed by a couple places to be turbo leak but eventually a good mechanic found that it was the turbo solenoids. One was dead and the other on its last legs.
You should also consider installing a catch can and upgraded PCV valve. Its a super easy mod that will save you.

I went FBO with my 135 cabrio and things didn't get crazy until I went E85 mixture. I am on MHD 2+ v.5 with e40 blend and it is stooopid . the MHD 2+ v10 on 93 was good but not even close to the e40 blend. 1 gear is useless. 2nd gear spins with ease and once it hooks it rockets you. never had a car that spun 2nd so easily... GO BLENDED FUEL

I got a 2012 but it has the LCI trim. I just did my OFHG at 90,000km & replaced it with a mosselmann thermostat & longer lasting silicone gasket. Oil temps are 10 degrees cooler just from that thermostat alone. I run Stage 1+ & havent had any real issues. Only bolt on I don't have is downpipes.

Congrats on the new 135i! Fantastic car whether it's N54 or 55. Tons of crossovers for sure. I would just make sure that the parts you order are for N54 as opposed to 55. Most parts are shared across both engines, but some are unique for the specific motor.

    • @drivewrenchrepeat
      @drivewrenchrepeat  6 місяців тому

@@pnum9618 You just need to unplug the battery located in the trunk using a 10mm socket. A demo can be found at 1:50 mark in this video: ua-cam.com/video/q4vF8XYU8A4/v-deo.html
Remember not to close the trunk after disconnecting the battery because you won't be able to open it electronically.

    Nice video man! Just subscribed.
I also have 135i and done similar mods as you (intake, quad exhaust, charge pipe, side skirts, quad splitter etc). Waiting for price to drop on the Wagner Tuning Intercooler and Downpipe before getting.
From what I’ve read online, the JB4 tuning chip is the way to go. That’s likely what I’ll be installing.
Just trying to save at moment 😊
I’ll be watching you. Good luck 👍

Hey Shaanan, we're stoked to see another fellow 135i owner as our first commenter! We installed the VRSF intercooler and downpipe on the 135i and were very happy with them. We've also completed our tune with MHD and it was super simple and the increase in performance was noticeable right off the gate. We've documented the whole process and will be sharing with our audience in the coming days. Check us out again when we do!

Just came across your channel as I’m planning on getting a 135i in the near future with the N55 motor. I haven’t driven one yet due to Australian regulations on younger drivers but I did have a 123d loved that car super smooth well balanced and excellent feedback in the steering and chassis feel. Regret selling that car every day so once I’m allowed to get a fast car I’m jumping onto 135i and get everything all nice and balanced. Upgrade the parts especially in the reliability, cooling and the handling areas of the car and the standard Bolt on exhaust system with dyno tune or reputable flash tune to get it a healthy number at the mid-high 300’s without putting to much stress on the motor as for decent reliability the regular upkeep on the maintenance.

I have full bolt ons on my 135i n55 with a mhd stage 2+
    3.5 catless downpipe
    Full racing exhaust
    Cold air intake
    Upgraded radiator
    5" intercooler
Hot and cold side charge pipe
    full metal water pump
    Replaced all my hoses
I'm telling you right now You have to change the blushings upgrade those
And you're going to have a problem with your driver rear axle if it's stock it's going to break It can't handle the power Because you don't have a limited slip differential I highly suggest to get an LSD I bought some G force axles That alone is gonna run you around 2150
Also upgrade the suspension and the arms The LSD is gonna run between 2000 to 2600 Also if your car has that many miles replace the rod bearings in the engine too I've already replaced almost every Maintenance thing and I just reached a 100k miles I'm still not done probably gonna throw another 7 to 8K into performance
