The Summer Palace is a summer resort for the royal family in ancient China. In ancient times, you could take a boat directly to the Summer Palace from the back of the Forbidden City along the central axis to Xizhimen. The Summer Palace is very large, but in ancient times it was only a small courtyard of the Yuanmingyuan, which shows how large the area of this royal garden is. Unfortunately, in the 19th century, the Old Summer Palace was looted and burned when the British and French allied forces occupied Beijing in 1860. Today, most of the cultural relics of the Old Summer Palace are in the British and French museums. If you go to the Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park next to the Summer Palace, you will see many of the past glory and historical relics of the Yuanmingyuan.
Therefore, after understanding this period of history back then, you will understand why China must rise now? Why is the western world so afraid of China's rise.
I agree with Brtish looting and all coz whereever British, French or others occupied/invaded they looted its treasures and transported to their respected home lands, this was not at all just happened with China. Showing this as reason and invading neighbouring countries or becoming a threat to neighbouring countries not called as "RISE". China is already pioneer in global market so there is nothing to prove now.
