By harmonizing the major scale with diatonic harmony, I better understand this quote from Bill Evans: "There are no wrong notes, only wrong resolutions, I think of all harmony as an expansion and a return to the tonic."
Brother Warren I really appreciate your tutorials, I would love yo tank your course. But I pastor a church and it leaves me no time. I just want to let you know I appreciate you. God bless you and your family.
My most visited UA-cam channel of all time, the knowledges ive gotten here is priceless thank you warren I gave you ab award last year too bad you didn't see it ❤
Many thanks, Warren. This is something I have been wanting to learn for a long time. Great explanation and demonstration. God Bless you always and Best Wishes!
Warren, very happy to have come across your channel today (watched several of your videos). I write mostly fusion - jazz/rock/funk, which seems parallel to what you are doing with gospel / worship music. Really appreciate the deep emotional vibe of what you are doing. Thank you for sharing - Kind regards from Seattle.
Great lesson Warren. I love the easy version and the advanced version. I appreciate the importance of good voice leading in this tutorial and the tritone Sub at 18:35 was just beautiful. Blessings!!
Super helpful. I really like this song but with just the chords online it sounds too plain & loses the spirit of the original. Your chords make it feel so nice. God bless
Hey Warren! Thanks for all you do! On this piano journey, Right now I don’t have enough to pay for the subscription per month, but I’m wanting to still make growth im wondering if I can use your playlists that you made to get what I need for now?
Warren I've seen your lessons on transcriptions... Would your be willing to do a recording of you transcribing a piece of music in real time. Kinda like how you've been doing the Yohan Kim stuff. Just so that we get to see you apply the stuff you talk about. Doesn't have to be a lesson. Hope you consider this suggestion! Stay blessed!🤜🏾🤛🏾
Not just an excellent teacher, but a fine singer too. Bless you, Mr. McPhearson. And what is the title of the I trust in God song, and the artist's name please?
14:11 What about an Am/D? That sounds nice Having this: C Am/D C/E ….. Plus, correct me if I’m wrong in this one: at 18:40 you picked the Gbaug7 because you are doing a 2-5-1 to go over the F right? You are doing the 2 - 5 followed by it’s tritone which is Gbaug7, and that falling nicely to the 4th chord which is F. That’s what are you doing right there and the reason why you chose this Gbaug7 right? Just the 2 5, it’s tritone, and the 1 (the 4th chord) which is F.
The goal is to harmonize the scale using only triads. The Am/D isn’t a triad because D is not apart of Am. You’re on the Gb(aug7), it’s the Tritone sub for C.
This is awesome Warren, I so much appreciate you for this. Am having issues downloading the Pdf file please, its telling me ...........*** Forbidden. Sender blacklisted. ***×
Warren, how do you fill in when the last chord of the verse is the same as the first chord of the chorus? It feels boring to stay on the same chord. It seems when this happens, it is usually the "one" chord. I am playing organ instead of piano, if that makes any difference.
You can topically to a “walk up.” For example. If the last chords is a “C” and the chorus also start with a “C” you can go to the “G chord” and walk up “F/A to G/B” to C. This is just the theory, but I’d need an actual song for practical applications, as there are other things to consider like the rhythm and timing.
@@PianoLessonwithWarren Thank you, Warren. I will try this. The song is Bienvenido Espíritu Santo (UA-cam ID nKyLfSkHlwA). The verse to chorus transition is at 1:30 to 1:50.
@@hacerclic1020Hi. I know this song, it seems that also all the instruments would have to make this fill in chords to reach nicely again to C to hit Chorus.
