    I have a feeling they hired Filipino-American dubbers for the English dub of Trese. The accent is on point and sounds really natural. Got high hopes for this series and I know that I won't be disappointed. If HBO has Spawn and Netflix has Castlevania, Trese can march shoulder-to-shoulder with the best.

      @h34dbug Probably, but there are still a number of Filipino-Americans who still retain a very distinctive Filipino accent regardless of their fluency in the English language, regardless of being born in or immigrated to the States. I'm just glad that the pronunciation in the English dub doesn't sound too Westernized/Americanized and Trese reflects how Filipinos speak in English with a very pronounced local accent since the setting is in Metro Manila, making the overall plot/scenarios more believable for the viewers, especially for the Filipino-American and Filipino viewers.

    To those who are complaining about their Pinoy accent, stop please. The foreign audiences would still understand them. They wont care about it, rather they will focus on the story and animation.Just tell others and invite more people to subscribe to Netflix.This has only 6 episodes, and depending on the response and popularity, they might extend and create more episodes.

      People are triggered because they aren't portrayed having an "American English" accent. It must've hurt their ego coz they see filipino enlish accent as low-class. These people are pretentious, denying the fact that this is indeed the COMMON accent of the general mass coz it's the natural clash between the two languages (like how indian, japanese, chinese, singapore, korean etc have their own english accent as well). "Americanized" english accent is only learned.

    • @follymetric
      @follymetric 3 роки тому +4

      @@aishein18 While it's ok if you discount VA delivery, some people equally discount animation and story, and would rather watch 'powerful' or ''captivating' performances, which you can get in Animations with VAs.
      Might I convince to try and convince your students to also watch the Tagalog dub? It would open their ears to a language they're not familiar with, and not all your students will be like you who is just after plot, some of your students may just prefer the language that the story is set in, or some might actually be bored of English/Japanese, and would like to try animation in a different language.

    There are two Ifugao songs in this opening scene.
    "Indungdung nak Ballatung" can be heard at the scene where the fanged creatures are climbing up the railway fence. The longer score at the introductory credit part is "Balluha'd Bayyauhe." Both are Ifugao folk songs as opposed to the claims of others that these are part of the Ifugao epic, Hudhud. The Hudhud and the Alim are Ifugao epics similar to India's Ramayana and Mahabharata, which can take days to complete the chant. Ifugao folk songs, on the other hand, are just short pieces that can be sung in any event or festivity.
    I love the metallic rock treatment given to the rendition here. It may sound unusual to us, Ifugaos, because we got used to listening to Ifugao songs a capella or accompanied by native instruments like gongs, goat skin drums, bamboo flutes and wooden percussion instruments. The upbeat score at Trese is a fusion of old and modern which is a testament that culture is dynamic and adaptive to the changes of time.

I have a Filipino dubber friend (anime/kdrama/telenovela) who told me that they sometimes change the dialog to fit the animation (mouth movements/duration of the scene). So usually the context in Filipino version will change. (Kaway kaway sa mga batang nakapanood ng Ghost Figther in tagalog at english. LOL). You get the full impact of the dialogue in tagalog. But I'm happy they got big stars to voice the English version so that it could reach a more international audience. But if you're filipino, take advantage of understanding the language and watch it in tagalog. Mas full experience dun. Or u can watch it on both languages!

    I clicked because of the official sneak peak, and I stayed and continued watching because of the diverse, varied, or various Filipino or Philippine English accent of the characters.
    Yeah, the Filipino or Philippine English "accent" isn't just a general monolith accent, though this general Filipino or Philippine accent do kind of exist.
    Various, varied, or diverse factors and influences such as, but not limited to, the native, indigenous, local, regional, or autochtonous languages and dialects of the Philippines aka mother tongues or first language/s and/or dialect/s, plus the individual or personal accents of every English-speaking Filipino, all contribute to the diversity and variety of Filipino or Philippine English accents.
