Trese: First Five Minutes in Japanese | Netflix Anime
/ netflixanime
In Manila, where dark supernatural forces pervade the criminal underworld, it’s up to Alexandra Trese to keep the peace - but there’s a storm brewing.
This is one reason why the Philippines should have invested in anime or animation production more to accommodate unique storylines rather than TV series that show the same conflicts of drama, crimes of passion, political and police violence and brutality, peppered with a young love team/triangle arc. We could not compete head on with Hollywood for the effects, stunts and prosthetics but we have animators and story writers who can create such great content.
Kudos to the team who made this rendition jump to life in the streaming universe! Mabuhay! 🤓
Mainstream filipino media is devoid of creativity and artistry.
TV shows in the Philippines, especially in GMA are all about adultery and stuff lmao. They should really try to make other stories
Yes, I find it bizarre that people are outraged with "Hayop Ka" when most of our shows tends to be raunchy as hell too.
(Yes it used to be on Netflix)
@@rosenzweiguwu3221 Gwyndamn, yes you said it well.
@heartlessapricot I'm kind of afraid that their adaptation of famous shows become all about adultery tbh. Left and right, all I see on their drama ads are their shows full of adultery. If we go to the other station, I can't mention much tbh but Ang Probinsyano.... That hell of a show ticks me off so much. They just take whatever's relevant and exaggerate it. Our network station is kinda hopeless smh
You can see it in their faces how normal to Filipinos when the MRT is breaking down at the middle of the trip. 💯

I feel like this looks more like a production that DC Comics would do than an anime.
But the opening is awesome!
Of course, the director of Trese is also the one who directed the animation for Wonderwoman
Trese is mostly inspired from Constantine.
Looks similar to invincible from Amazon prime, hype for Trese.
because Jay Oliva is the director!! :D
DC comic animations are normally good too lol
I'm glad they're avoiding the "skeptical cops" cliche and having the protagonist and local police work together from the start
Because the cops in this universe have seen so much, human crimes are vanilla.😁
I think supernaturals in this universe is kind of normal thing, see when no one give a shit on white lady
I watch this series. Too much demon stuff happening that it feels like the cops are useless. Though that's the same for any superhero series
A lot of Pilipinos still believe in superstitions, so in a world where those are real, it will not be so hard for them to accept it
Shut up You IDIOT
FYI, that's an Ifugao "hudhud" chant being played 1:21, something that is sang for several days during funerals and harvests. It's also a dying art in the Philippines.
So sad 😔
its not dying if there's people in our country reserving our culture.
Sarangheyo is love,sarangheyo is life
(my opinion on this country's media)
Ooh that is a very interesting fact
@@hihe530 definitely. What I mean is that the number of practitioners is decreasing. It's being preserved on recorded media though, which is cool.
I hope the Filipino immigrants and Filipino-Japanese are also watching this in Japan. This is a good way for them to learn about Filipino mythology and be entertained at the same time.
Also for learning some filipino language. This holds especially true for filipino movies

That's because this was directed by Jay Oliva. The same director from DC animated films.

hoping that people all over the world will watch the tagalog version first before other languages just to get the full grasp of the philippine vibe. love y'all!!
Tru, it's better to watch the original first before the others.
Except the source material is in english, so I guess it's okay to skip the tagalog dub, but to each their own. I'm a Filipino btw and a fan of the Trese graphic novels.
i second this motion! grabe nakakatindig balahibo pakinggan sa mother tongue. grabe
cant watch tagalog, hire professional "tagalog" VA's instead of celebrities then I will watch.
@@fearender318 I agree. Don't know why they needed to sacrifice the quality just for the sake of having local celebrities on board. I mean the popularity of the graphic novel locally and the fact that it's the first filipino comics to get adapted into an anime is already sufficient to carry its own promotion.

I like that they really show the filthy parts of Manila, Japan anime makes some of us love their culture and country well because japan is really beautiful. In here they are already showing the badside of our country, I love that they did that no sugar coating. the occults too difinetely inspired from our legends. I'm sure my parents will love this!
If you aren't aware, the ones who animated this is an Indonesian animators. from what I know, Japan has no involvement in making of this series.
@@fantasyalover4782 there are a lot of Filipino animators who know how to animate well, why get Indonesian animators? Do they demand cheaper pay or smtn? I'm genuinely curious
@@chrono-glitchwaterlily8776 no, because Indonesia (and Malaysia) are well known to have a lot of animation studio and outsorce animators who work for Japanese anime and American CGI movies, for example try watch the Indonesian version of Pocari Sweat commercial (Bintang SMA) that commercial was directed by Japanese and animated by Indonesians, also if you watch Japanese anime you will find a lot of Indonesian names in credit (they are outsource animators) so I think Netflix will be more familiar/easier to reach Indonesian animators than the Filipinos ones

If DC buys her
I was also thinking of batman's animation while watching. I haven't seen Constantine yet.

La intro es como ver "Sin City" y "Hellboy" juntos.
In my recent attendance of fan club seminar. The comic Author said he did took a lot of inspiration from Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore works and incorporated Philippine mythology element. But instead of asking the questions "where are the ancient gods now? ", They are now asking "Where are the Philippine mythology creatures and gods now in the modern world?"
And instead of making Trese a male like other supernatural hunters Constantine, Hellboy and Van Helsing he made her a female. And the intended protagonist who was originally a radio character became Trese's dad instead.

Is this an inspired fan fic of Saya from Blood the last vampire? Kind of feels like that?
Huh, I was expecting the White Lady to appear more tangible, more human-like with a pale complexion, like how it was in the comics. That cop’s suicide info has much less of an impact now that the body obviously looks like a ghost.
Aside from that, everything is looking good.
Perhaps because the magic circle with the baybayin scripts has bound it to the physical plane?
thats true. the twist was more impactful in the komiks. but im still happy nonetheless. i still can't believe may TV show na tayo based on filipino original work
Maybe they didn't put it now because it is just like a snippet of a whole story? Hope it does, it makes me get curious more about trese
In the comics, the white lady also committed suicide in 1965 not 1990s.
Agree. The execution of that part could have been done better. On the comics the part where she was a ghost was later revealed after the police red her bio, and only become ghost like when trese broke the seal.
