This is probably some of the best wisdom I've ever heard shared from a pro about mental game and staying positive through any situation. No other pro has articulated the way the mental game is played as well as you have Mr. Fish. Thank you very much. And thank you Gatekeeper for lugging those cameras through the woods!
I love the transparency - strategy, disc selection, execution, and reflection. If you think "this is too much analysis," realize this is exactly what it takes to improve your game - which doesn't happen from just throwing discs. Thanks for sharing and to Gatekeeper for filming! Love forward to more mic'd up with Fish~
I want to be clear. I subscribed to gatekeeper media because of this video. Fish at iron Hill is The best disc golf content I have ever seen on the Internet. Everyone can learn from this. Fish you are a bad ass golfer and a super cool dude -keep it up Homie !!!
I was already likely to become a patron, but after this video and the one with Simon at maple hill I’m in. Uli is my favorite pro on tour but Fish is my favorite pro overall. Wish I could see him out there every couple weeks. I watch whatever coverage he gets on. He gave me about 15 minutes of time at Seneca in February and I used his advice to win my division in my first tourney. Thanks Gatekeeper. Awesome idea and excellent execution!
And thank you for the MD Women’s open coverage. I am sponsoring a couple holes there at Seneca creek. And I plan to help make the course look great with Mr. Bill leading up to it. The field looks really great this year if everything goes well
Wow! I've always enjoyed watching Andrew play. I enjoyed listening to his thought process in real time. Well spoken, analytical, and very intelligent. Thank you Andrew and thank you Gate Keeper. I would love to see more of these types of videos, both with Andrew and other touring pros! WELL Done
Gatekeeper/Fish this was one of; if not the best video I have ever seen. I have never heard Fish talk this much. Guess it shows he only talks when it is meaningful. I cannot say enough good things about this video! Peace & Plastic .........always!
Awesome work Gatekeeper and Fish! Really enjoyed this one- I was just thinking after watching the Simon/Maple Hill vid that it would be great to have a mic'd up pro do the same for Iron Hill - and Fish was the perfect choice. Again, great job and look forward to more amazing content from you guys.
Loving this mic'd up format. Andrew is a great player and what a great presenter with insights, mental game tips and disc/throw options. Thanks so much for posting.
Love this course! Brutal woods courses will always be way more interesting to watch than simple wide open park golf. Atleast for me. I could understand DGTP/PDGA favoring the open ones for financial reasons tho.
Really loved watching this and hearing the thoughts and demands needed when stepping up to a shot. Definitely going to make me slow down my game and try and maintain a healthy positive mindset throughout the round.
I want to agree with the comment below 100%. Fish you are a great golfer dude. Thanks for your honesty about the mental game, Some struggle more than others but that tends to happen as your game gets better and you understand what you’re capable of doing. Everybody wants to throw the best shot every time but that’s not golf, or life for that matter.
I don’t know if it’s worth taking advice from an advanced player but I am a forehand dominant player and throwing forehands on an anhyser is a very specific shot- I don’t mean blasting out a brand new surge on a flex line and I won’t go too deep into it but the right disc is obviously crucial. IMHO The trick to a big sweeping forehand Anny That will Hyser back out at the end, or finish flat down the fairway here in your case is in the last 3 inches of your release. Those huge ultimate flicks are awesome but your elbow is 12 to 14 inches away from your body on release. If it could be more like 6 inches then this is what I mean… Whether or not the snap factor is real it’s almost like you have to sell the shot- your wrist is angled up to release the disk on anny but it’s like picture if your arm couldnt move except for your wrist and you were trying to show somebody how to cast a fishing pole with only that 3 inches of Wrist movement. That’s what I mean by selling the shot Those last 3 inches are like setting the hook. And when I don’t do that they fluff out early or fluff out all together- You know what fuck it -get an SS CRANK throw it at a tree three times and you can release it forehand at 4o’clock Hyser and you’ve got your shot!! Maybe 430 in your case, you’ve got a touch more power than I do.😁
This was so cool - BUT... it would be even cooler to get a shot from over his shoulder just to see what he sees each shot. Then go back to the best vantage point. Thanks to GK and AF for sharing this - great course!
Awesome insight. Tyler and Nockamixon are my local courses it would be awesome to see something there. Unfortunately Nockamixon is closed for the year for tree maintenance. Looking forward to more!
Great content guys I really enjoyed this video I used to live in new Jersey an I would always go down an play iron hill its definitely in my top 5 favorite courses
On hole 17 you stepped away from the putt and said something like ,"A bad thought came in." What positive thought did you replace it with and is this something you do on a regular basis? Do you have some go to positive thoughts you could share with us? Thanks!
That positive thought was "center" because I had gotten a sudden fear of missing the short putt. It varies though. Sometimes it's a really deliberate mechanical thing, like planting well; sometimes it's something silly like getting excited about the lunch I packed for myself.
I'm surprised Andrew doesn't bag Zeus. Gap between that crank and force is rather large. Having a good flex FH looks key on this course and Zeus would hold those tighter lines better and hold anny release angle longer. Those UPD shift pockets can hold 3 discs, atleast outer 2.
Great to see & hear Fish's approach to this Beast of a course, but...can we talk about that revolting THING he wears on his head? Why? except for the holey hat, the rest of his kit looks clean and sharp. am i being overly snarky & dramatic? Absolutely, but there MUST be a story about that stinking(probably) hat, and I want to hear it

Thanks John!
Yes, Fish seems very intelligent, great stuff
Fish is one of my favorites, love his self commentary.
Luke Humphries -
Bro you gotta get him on one of the OTB Skins Matches PLEASE!!!
I'm really liking this mic'ed up series. I love hearing how the pros breakdown a course, hole, and shot. Thanks!!

Always great to hear Fish's insights. Thanks Gatekeeper for setting this up, well done!
#17 putt : “Had a bad thought. Let’s get a good thought.”
Amazing introspection on any shot. The psychology of disc golf - by Andrew Fish!
thanks for the coverage boys, this course is such a beast and one hell of a hike
Loving these videos. Great job Gatekeeper! Gotta get more players to do this
Loving this mic'd up format. Andrew is a great player and what a great presenter with insights, mental game tips and disc/throw options. Thanks so much for posting.
one of the best disc golf videos i've seen
Love this course! Brutal woods courses will always be way more interesting to watch than simple wide open park golf. Atleast for me. I could understand DGTP/PDGA favoring the open ones for financial reasons tho.
you can't really have spectators on many wooded US courses. European style much better for spectators.
Mic’d up! Awesome! Nice to listen through the Thought process.
These series are awesome. Plus Fish is a gem!
Marvelous content. It's encouraging to learn about the thinking that is integral to disc golf. Thank you.
With put a doubt the best of the mic'd up series.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Fish is so thoughtful in his approach.
such a tough course. good to see a strong technical player and how they attack it.
More of this please! Would love to see Fish mic'd up on Muddy Run, Quakers Challenge, Codorus, etc.!
We would love to do one at Muddy! That’s the first course we ever filmed coverage! 2017 Holtwood Open
Really loved watching this and hearing the thoughts and demands needed when stepping up to a shot. Definitely going to make me slow down my game and try and maintain a healthy positive mindset throughout the round.
I loved it! It’s gotta be really hard to play a course like that and focus on your shots, all the while talking about it. Amazing.
This is fantastic stuff! Keep it up
"If I were Barsby, I'd be putting it in right now. Instead I'm me and I'm putting it way short." That's the rough life.
Ugh too real.
This series is so good!! This round with Fish in particular. I am heading to your Patreon right now. Keep up the awesome work!
So glad you enjoyed and thanks so much for the support!
What an interesting and thoughtful guy. Totally enjoyed this!

Get mad AND get better...

I like.....like it. Theres a lot of stuff going on upstairs....AF is a character haha. Great job
This was so cool - BUT... it would be even cooler to get a shot from over his shoulder just to see what he sees each shot. Then go back to the best vantage point. Thanks to GK and AF for sharing this - great course!
Fish & Gatekeeper, Great video!!!
This was great! Thank you Andrew and Gatekeeper.
Keep doing these Mic'd Up videos, love them!
Awesome insight. Tyler and Nockamixon are my local courses it would be awesome to see something there. Unfortunately Nockamixon is closed for the year for tree maintenance. Looking forward to more!
Quality guy! Good coverage Gatekeeper!
Great content guys I really enjoyed this video I used to live in new Jersey an I would always go down an play iron hill its definitely in my top 5 favorite courses
Amazing footy fellas. This is fantastic!
Really great Andrew, lots of fun!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!
This one of our favorite projects we have ever done.
fish is great - he can actually explain HOW to be positive, what was wrong with his thoughts, and how to correct it.
Guys a genius
Great video, lovin’ the break downs, ohh lightning bug, sorry what was I sayin’...
Was waiting for this
Dropping Tyler and French Creek on em 👌
The world don’t know, and that’s the world’s problem.
good stuff!
Could we get a Cliff Stephens Golds Mic'd up? Maybe with Ken Climo if you got the chance? Anyways, love the video. Keep up the great content!

I’ve got some good straight Z Forces that do that for me, but didn’t have one in the bag for this round.

The story isn’t heard so much as smelled.
