Hello Andy, Can you share your thoughts about whether or not you want a prospecting employer contacting the current employer. I know they have to confirm that you worked there but if you don't want the employer (i.e. supervisor/manager) to know you are seeking other opportunities. I've heard both sides and want to settle this within myself.
I find your information very useful since I haven't really looked at my resume in a decade and I now want to change careers and I have no experience in the industry that I am now seeking. How can I best address that through my resume? I know that my previous skills are transferable but just want to best address that in the resume as well as he cover letter.
L. that's a great question. a prospecting employer should NOT contact a current employer until you've agreed to work for the prospect, signed you acceptance/employment letter, and given them permission to do a background check. If they call your current (soon to be former employer), the employer should give very little information on you other than you work/worked there.
No word of a lie, I switched my resume to this format and applied to a company I have been applying to for the past two years with zero luck. I submitted my resume to them again last night after following this video and woke up to an email from them requesting to schedule an interview. THIS ACTUALLY WORKS GUYS! Now time to watch your interview tips and prep. THANK YOU SO MUCH ANDREW!
I'm a masters graduate and have a career team that's highly reputable but have failed to get interviews. Out of desperation, I THANKFULLY found this video and after following these instructions and the cover letter video's advice, I'm finally receiving interviews. Thank you so SO much!
The biggest issues with my resume was having no idea how to format it and make my job duties stand out. Thanks to your help with my resume, along with your thank you note sample and top 5 questions to ask the interviewer I was offered the position I wanted even though I failed the technical interview which caught me completely off guard - but they were so impressed with everything else they decided that they will train me on the coding aspects of the job. Thanks again.
Hey Andrew, I just wanted to thank you for putting this content out. I watched hours and hours of your content and applied much of your resume template to my own. During the interview I asked the key question, “What would success look like for me a year from now, if this works out and I am the candidate you are looking for.” It was a panel interview and I could tell my prospective new manager really liked the question. At the close I thanked them for their time and told them “I want to make this work.” I repeated that I had done a lot of research on their website and explained how their 4 key cultural pillars exactly aligned with my personal standards and the way I seek to conduct myself as a professional. They came back with an offer the next day and it was an outstanding offer! Thank you so much for equipping me to meet this challenge and better my life and my growing family’s life. Thank you thank you thank you!!
Andrew is excellent in his advice, completely genuine, sincere, generous in spirit, motivational and makes me smile inside and outwardly. Thank you, Andrew!
Andrew, thanks to your UA-cam videos I wrote an ultimate resume, got noticed, had the interview and just got hired with a significant raise one step above my current title. You’re an excellent teacher and mentor. I’ve learned so much from your success. Thank you so much! God bless.
Hey Andrew, I had to let you know after watching your videos and rewriting my resume, I received an offer within a month!! Thank you so much for all the free content you provide. You completely changed the way I thought about resumes and job interviews and I wouldn’t have gotten this offer without you! Thanks again, Matt
Hi Andrew, I just want to say thank you for your videos. Since I watched this video teaching how to make a good resume, I started to receive invitations for interviews. I spent 8 months sending resumes in Canada and I never got a call for an Interview. This week I did 3 interviews and last week I did 2. Today I was hired, after almost 8 months looking for a job. Thank you so much for your help, good luck with your company and I'll tell all my friends to subscribe to your UA-cam channel.
Alline, I read this comment 3 times and I smile bigger every time I read it. Thank you for making my day and I'm so thrilled my material helped you! Lots of luck with the new job. And, thanks so much for referring your friends to me. That's the best compliment you can ever give. :)
I just landed TWO INTERVIEWS from following your instructions and mixing in your collegiate style format as well (I'm fourth year university student) THANK YOU
Hello Andrew, I just want to say THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !! THANK YOU!! for all the information and advice you provided. I did exactly as you said and landed 3 interviews and a new career came out of them just 4 days after restructuring my resume and cover letter. Thank you again !!
After using your template and incorporating your tips on getting my resume noticed, I heard back right away from just the second job I applied for. Thanks, Andrew!
Thank you so much for this. I'm freshly out of the military, and my resume I felt was sub-par. I stumbled across this video and used the templates to help rewire mine. I pulled a little bit of a tricky move, that way I applied online, but went in the next day with my resume and said it wouldn't load for some reason, which allowed me face time with the hiring authority and showed I had confidence. As we all know that's huge in the retail world. I got the job and I think I can credit that to you and your videos. Thank you so much again.
Jonathan DeVore that’s awesome! Thanks for engaging in material and thanks for commenting. Most importantly, thanks for letting me know the outcome and I’m glad you were properly aggressive. That’s what you should be and I’m glad it paid off for you Jonathan! Los of luck with the new gig!
I literally can not make this up. A few days ago I watched this video and professor Heather Austin's video on resume tips. Today I decided to finally apply what I learned and submitted an application at 12:06 pm and received a phone call for an interview at 12:17 pm. My husband and I are so shocked! Neither of us has EVER received a call back that fast. Thank you sooo much Andrew :)
Hi Andrew, I just want to say thank you for this video! It was very helpful. I followed your tips and resume template and now I’m receiving so many calls and emails from future employers! Before I changed up my resume. I was not receiving any calls for almost two months! Until recently, after I updated my resume into a better template in which you shared via email. Again, thank you so much. I feel very optimistic about my future.
Hi Andrew: I just want to say you came up on youtube just when I was most frustrated and discouraged. Thank you so much for your professional free advise and material to work with. You are a Godsend.
Thank you so much Andrew. Embarking on a new career path after many years in furniture sales. I truly can not express my gratitude for your knowledge and generosity. Your valuable time is greatly appreciated.
I just ran into one of your videos today and has already watched 6 of them lol. I love your delivery and examples...EXAMPLES ARE EVERYTHING!!!! Keep ‘em coming!
Andrew, I haven’t even started my new resume yet but had to stop and say you are the REAL DEAL and wish I could have someone like you managing my career. I’ve watched and read as many of these videos, books, podcast, etc. as you have resumes and this entire process has gone to the dogs you were speaking about. What happened to KISS? I agree with everything you are saying, use common sense and put yourself behind the desk. Ask yourself what you would want to see and go from there. Thanks for the latest tips and refreshers.
Amy!!! LOVE. Just love this and thank you for the very kind words. And, of course, you are more than welcome. BTW, I had a kick butt resume writing masterclass I conducted for free back in September. It was such as huge hit, I'm running it again November 9th. Need to sign up by Nov 5. Here are the dets and I genuinely hope you can come! www.milewalkacademy.com/p/andrew-lacivita-resume-writing-live-masterclass
Andrew's guidelines for investment to the people and corporate world at the same time are outstanding! On the one hand it helps us job seekers to save our time and energy while not wasting motivation and morality. And on the other hand, employers will get what they really want. Andy, you are the best! With gracious and respect.
Thaaaank You!!! i have been trying to write a resume for a couple of weeks now... i have seen and have read so many different suggestions that i have over loaded my brain into thinking everyone i write is all wrong!! To me, you brought a resume back to the reality and reason it was intended to be used for. You nailed everything negative that i have been thinking about as far as the nonsense info.... and now i may actually be able to take a deep breath and write this resume with feeling the stress of feeling like I'm try to write a best selling novel. Thanks Again!!
Thank you so much, Andrew! I'm attempting to write my first resume in 6 years and this video and you have both been a great help. Thanks again for all the hard work you do to try and help people. :)
This is exactly what I needed to hear as I'm exploring new opportunities this year. And everything was said in just the right words. I typically always dread working on my resume but once in awhile I get excited to get into it and this video totally did that :) Thank you !!
Dear Andrew LaCivita: How can we thankful for such a wonderful contribution, yet your tremendous energy is producing excllent informations for whom all of us searching every now and then, it shows your passionate nature towards the prosperity of Humanity which is beyond description. I'm from Pakistan and really grateful from the core of my Heart!
My brother @Andrew, I am Fidel from Mozambique, Africa. Weeks ago I tested your theories about Resumé writing. To my suprise, I have a job enterview next week (tuesday) with a Italian company. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and impacting the world. If you come to MOZAMBIQUE, we will drink a beer (Manica) with roasted calamaris. :) Obrigado
I think you're awesome!! I feel I'm steady going into a deep depression regarding employment. So many opinions about resume writing that contradict each other. I spend hours completing profiles, sending resumes, and 5 min after the conformation, it's followed by a declination e-mail. It's very depressing.
I feel your pain. I made myself physically ill applying for hundreds of jobs after so many years, with no response. I am getting some responses from employers now but still unsuccessful. Now I have discovered Andy I hope this will change.
Your videos helped me more in 2 videos than 3 years of computer class in high school did 😂. Scrapped the old resume and fallowed your guidelines and I must say. Wow I’m impressed now
Thank you for your advice Andrew. I had already sensed some of the things you point out in the video, others are new to me. Now, let me ask two questions: 1) What if you have worked for small organizations but would like to enter a large one? 2) How to tune your cv when you have experience in one field (for me marketing communication) but would like to change sector (product marketing or trade marketing), and you have studied in order to get the competences needed for that?
Hi Marta! On your first point, you can make some of your items in your Career Profile and Career Highlights section related to areas a larger company might find attractive. For example, if you've worked for smaller organizations, have you designed and implemented processes and procedures your company used? Are you organized and so forth? These are just a few examples, but I would review the job descriptions for the larger organizations and simply pull forward some of the alignments. On your second question, check the answer I left Maryann Hack (right above yours) as a start. I would also highlight the CAPABILITIES required for product or trade marketing. Those transferrable skills you gained in MarComm that would also apply. Make your career profile and highlights sections show those capabilities. Lastly, I would mention that in your cover letter as well!!!
Thank you, Mr. LaCivita for the excellent wisdom for the look behind the scenes. As a professional with multiple backgrounds, I appreciate your help with my job search and resume writing.
Sarah! You are so welcome. Thank you for watching the video and thanks too for the nice words. I truly hope I can help. Check out my blog for my great, FREE insight! (www.andrewlacivita.com)
Andy - any chance this template is available for download? I see I am three years late but am extremely interested in following through. Your videos are fantastic - thank you!
Hey there Andrew! Thanks a lot for the helpful tips. One of the jobs I'd come across requires a cover letter and thus I stumbled upon the cover letter video which was extremely helpful. To make my current resume even more enticing, I decided to watch this video and it most certainly turned out to be great. I'm transitioning from the general accounting field to investment. I've been in the field of accounting for about 5 years and I guess it seems bland and boring. To spruce up my career, I decided to take the leap. 😆 Wish me luck.. 😁
Hello, I just found your video series and it's mind-blowing! I would like to ask, where do I put I am fluent in other languages in this Resume or the level of computer skills (eg MSOffice)? So many resume templates include that.
Liked and subscribed. Those are some solid tips that will help a lot, thank you for that! A little question, if you have the time to answer: If I'm career-pivoting, I should highlight my previous career achievements or my recent self-taught skills (projects and not very solid portfolio)?
Hey Carlos. If you’re changing careers, you’ll need to highlight the transferable capabilities or skills you’ve previously gained. I would suggest checking out my career changer playlist for more help!!
Andy! Just a quick one... Regarding ATS is it better to put Employer first line and Job Title second? Or Job Title first and employer second? What do you think about alternating Job Title or Employer first depending on what you want to highlight? Or do you need to pick one and be consistent?
@@andylacivita Thanks for the quick reply! Your videos are amazing and so helpful. I'm currently looking to change from a career as tour guide into a BDM or Sales role and having a really hard time finding career highlights and quantifiable accomplishments that relate apart from number of clients served... I'm worried it sounds too cutesie and too thinly veiled to say "I offer 22 years experience in customer facing client solutions" or similar vague simile
Usman Ayyaz Hey Usman, that's fantastic that you are moving through that accreditation. I might add that in the educational section or create an additional section call accounting accreditations. You can include you've completed the 9 with 5 remaining. If you think it's helpful to include the names of the stages, out those in. Just be careful you don't make the resume too long. But, I love that you're including that. It's important to note!
Andrew LaCivita, I am a new follower, I love the live interview class you created, so wonderful. I’m a full time contractor and I’m looking for a direct hiring opportunity, need to update my resume and post it! Thank you for your positive passionate thought/guidance! I will keep following your class.
Good Video! It focusses on contributions and that is what is important for a resume. Especially say what your company does, not many people are telling job applicants that. This is what I tell my consultants. Spot on. I gave you a thumbs up!
Hi Andrew, I got few questions; 1) Should I send the resume as a word document or as a pdf.? 2) I'm an entry level job seeker, with only part time work experience which are not directly related to my field. Do you still think I should put employment info before education? Please let me know. Thanks!
You can put your education at the top if you are a recent college graduate. If you've been working a little bit, put the education below the work experience. I'm guessing your resume will only be 1 page, so it should be okay.
Mike. Thanks a mil. If you love the template you gotta come to my free, live resume class. It’s a one time event on the 9th. www.milewalkacademy.com/p/andrew-lacivita-resume-writing-live-masterclass
Nicely detailed video on how to craft the ultimate resume. I've already handed in mine though I did follow close to what you are describing here. You've said you've seen a massive amount of resumes, can we (if its not already available) look forward to a video of you showing or talking about some of the best or favorite resumes you've gone over?
Hi Andrew, thank you so much for your incredibly helpful instructions. I am wondering about your input on combining career profile and career highlights into a single section in my resume. Thx
Don’t do it. They are 2 completely different things. One is an aggregated summary. The other is filled with very specific accomplishments/benefits achieved. They are done this way for psychological reasons. If you’re interested in much more on this, check out my résumé writing workshop or my job search coaching program.
Andrew, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for your wisdom and guidance. Thanks to you, I have a much better idea of what I need to do in school in order to make the perfect resume for my dream job/career.
Hi Andrew. Thank you for your great tips and guidelines. I have two questions 1. Should the education be listed before the experience section? Note I have a two page resume. 2. You didn't mention the competencies and the skills, are they both essential in a CV? If yes, can you provide more tips on how long their section should be and whether both or one is more important than the other? I am in a senior position in construction and program management. Thank you.
For you Karolina, education should be on second page. Core competencies should go in the second paragraph of the career profile. You can list the relevant ones for you. It might be two or three lines worth!
Shahd, not sure why that's not working, but try this box here: milewalk.leadpages.co/leadbox/145d4b8b3f72a2%3A17fd80be1346dc/5710855106723840/. We send you an email immediately. The download button should drop the file right to your computer. Make sure to check your downloads folder.
Webby, I have 50 or so. Head to my UA-cam channel and find the interview playlist. Those a some of them. Search the site as well. Also, you can get my book Interview Intervention for FREE, plus the eBook and audiobook if you pay $& for shipping and handling. Anywhere in the world. Go here: www.milewalkacademy.com/p/free-hardcover-copy-of-interview-intervention
Hi Andrew, About tables, you told already that do not use tables. But, what if? ; I use tables in word, to make it better aligning and make it more like a funnel as you suggested, and later make them invisible and only text can be seen and save it in pdf and send the only pdf version to recruiters, tracking systems may have difficult still? What are your experiences about that, can you please share it in here?
Will Williamson glad I could be of help Will. Lots of luck with your search and make sure to check out the milewalk academy and my blog. Loads more free stuff there!
You are incredible! I was skeptical when I watching this first but once I downloaded the template and started working on this it makes an incredible amount of sense!! THANK YOU SO MUCH I am trying this out next week!!
wondering if you have a sample resume the template is great but a sample but give me a great idea as well. I watch another video where you show a sample career profile and that helped me write mine tremendously. thank you!
Hi Andrew, your videos are so helpful! I needed to re-write my resume to optimize for the ATS system, and then I found your resume building videos. They are extremely clear with great examples! I do have a couple of questions -- 1. What is your advice about putting my LinkedIn profile url on the same line as my address, phone number, etc.? 2. If I list 3-4 accomplishments in the Career Highlights section, should I also list those same accomplishments in the work experience section those accomplishments come from? Thanks Andrew!
Good day Andrew, If i am in the process of relocating to a different country, how should I list my address ? I was thinking add my current address on resume and then explain my moving situation in the cover letter with future address. Can you please advise how this should be done? Thanks
Andrew, I think the biggest problem when putting together my resume is that I don’t have much professional experience. I’m an aerospace engineer by education but I’ve only had one internship in my whole life and that wasn’t even at an aerospace company. All the big ones I want to work for; Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, SpaceX etc all seem to want their entry level employees to have some level of professional experience in the industry, which I don’t have. I’ve worked on plenty of aerospace projects in college and I’ve included them in my “Experience” part of my resume. Can college projects count as experience?
Adeniyi, that's a great questions. If you have a job where the hardcore skills are essential and a good piece to include, I suggest putting them at the bottom of the resume. This is nice if you have a bunch of certifications and so forth, but not required if you're listing skills that are general such as "project management," "leadership," etc. and other vague skills. Those skills, while important, can be embodied throughout the resume. That help?
That’s okay. I don’t know what kind of business you run, but if you have some brand, customer names or well-known customer organizations or something of that sort, you can put a few of them in the description or in your bullets!
Hi Andrew; I am writing from Mozambique, Africa. Thank you for the great work you are doing. Keep up. May you please give an example of a career profile from education context?
Andy, when you are writing your Career Highlights section and listing your accomplishments should you mention the name of the company in the accomplishment so that the HR person knows who you did this great thing for?
James, I recommend that you do. It's okay to put a bullet in the highlight and repeat it in the section where it actually occurred. Don't worry that it's in there twice. Most of the time (as in 99%), the reviewer is scanning the resume and not reading every word. The reinforcement, as strange is it sounds because it's in one 2-page-or-less document, works to your advantage!
Is there an editable version of the Template instead of the pdf? I don't have any software (acrobat) to allow me to quickly swipe ur template and replace the text! Thanks.Andrew...Do you do any phone appointments? Just have some overall basic questions that would probably take 15-30 minutes.....Great stuff......thx
The templates which are editable are in my resume writing workshop or job search boot camp. I do offer private coaching through my job search boot camp program as well. I do however have ways where I have 15-30 min slots. One great thing for you would be to join me weekly at my Thursday live office hours. I answer questions for people during the live show. It’s on UA-cam and you can check the homepage of my channel for the link for tomorrow!!
Hi Andrew, I have questions. Do you have any videos about career transitioning resumes? I went back to school got an AAS degree and I am now looking for an entry level position in the area of the AAS degree. Prior to school I worked in management for 18 years. I am not sure what format to use. Education at top or bottom? How much experience about my previous job do I include? Thank you for your time.
Julep, great question. Here's what I recommend. If you are making an entire change, it's okay to put your career profile on top and education below it to show you are making a change based on your recent accomplishment. You can put your highlights right below education. We do this with people who go to paralegal school, nursing school, or make entire changes later in the career. Best of luck on this!
Andrew LaCivita thank you so much.Today I came to know about your channel while searching for resume and interview vids.I have watched your resume and 4 sentence cover letter video, and definitely will have to improve my resume
THANK YOU! Finally an advice I can relate to - and will gladly use. Furthermore - 1 CV makes sense and really should be enough as there is only one you, with the experience you had. I find it really draining to adapt CV to each and every job, and create totally new cover letter for each too. Why haven't we arrived yet to a new set up where cover letters are not needed anymore - and CV (i.e. single document) does the talk? How come we are in 21st century - and have to negotiate so many various hoops to apply for jobs? Just apply, nevermind get. All while from collective experience - my own and my friends - quite often job offer comes from the first contact, mental 'scan', the energy, the fact that employer/recruiter felt a connection with you, liked you for any or for no reason - despite the fact that you actually lacked some skill or knowledge, or experience. Some attribute such luck to - well - luck; some - to Attraction Law they practice, some to coincidence - but it does happen. Alas to get that chance of deserved recognition or luck one has to be chosen for an interview first. I am really thriled to have found your videos and the Academy - may save £250 for personalised CV and cover letter service someone offered me recently...
YOU'RE WELCOME and you're dead right!!! Thanks too for the nice remarks about the videos. By the way, I'm not sure if you subscribe to my tips for work and life blog, but there are loads of additional FREE resources there too. Just go to www.andrewlacivita.com and you can sign up there. Next month, I'll be doing an in depth webinar on resume writing and if you're on the list, you'll be notified!!!! And don't ever pay to have someone do YOUR resume. You'll spend a ton of time explaining yourself to them, won't like what they draft, and have to spend additional time rewriting a significant amount of it. No one knows you as well as you. Once you figure out the format and structure, it's much easier for you to write your own!!!
Hey there! Sorry you missed, but great news. I just added three more live sessions. Check the new dates here. There are a couple next week and one the following week. Hope you can make one!! www.milewalkacademy.com/p/webcast-3-keys-to-ace-any-job-interview-registration
Thanks Jennifer. Glad you liked it. Go to the description and check the section with the title FREE RESUME TEMPLATE DOWNLOADS WITH INSTRUCTIONS. Just take the professional format. It has the layout and some verbiage in it to recap my instructions. Enjoy!
Hi Agilan, there is no standard font size because actual sizes vary from font to font. One font's 10.5 might be the same actual size as another font's 12. I'd suggest no matter what font you're using, don't go below 10.
Hi Everyone! What are your biggest issues when putting together your resume?
Hello Andy, Can you share your thoughts about whether or not you want a prospecting employer contacting the current employer. Andrew, I appreciate your response. Thank you. I will view the suggested video. Will share more later. L.
No word of a lie, I switched my resume to this format and applied to a company I have been applying to for the past two years with zero luck. How did it go?

Diane Sanders Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy! So glad to hear Diane. Lots of luck with the new job!!
Congratulations. Thank GOD
Hey Andrew,
I just wanted to thank you for putting this content out. I watched hours and hours of your content and applied much of your resume template to my own.
During the interview I asked the key question, “What would success look like for me a year from now, if this works out and I am the candidate you are looking for.”
It was a panel interview and I could tell my prospective new manager really liked the question.
Craig, you’re so welcome and thank YOU for sharing this! Huge 🥳 congrats!🎈🎊🍾🎉

Love to hear it. Good luck with the interviews!!
This gives me so much hope because I am a final year student too and I am going to apply his techniques! Wish me luck!
Hello Andrew, I just want to say THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !! THANK YOU!! for all the information and advice you provided. I did exactly as you said and landed 3 interviews and a new career came out of them just 4 days after restructuring my resume and cover letter. Thank you again !!
Love to hear this Roel. Huge congratulations to you!!!!
After using your template and incorporating your tips on getting my resume noticed, I heard back right away from just the second job I applied for. Thanks, Andrew!
Nice work! Glad it was helpful.

Wonderful to hear this Mari'yah and big congrats on getting some traction! Best of luck in the process. Hopefully my interviewing videos will help!
Andrew LaCivita yes hopefully 😅 I watched it a few hours ago
Hi Andrew, I just want to say thank you for this video! It was very helpful. I followed your tips and resume template and now I’m receiving so many calls and emails from future employers! Before I changed up my resume. I was not receiving any calls for almost two months! Until recently, after I updated my resume into a better template in which you shared via email. Again, thank you so much. I feel very optimistic about my future.
Glad it helped!
Love to hear it Mercedes!!!
Andy is ALWAYS dropping knowledge !!! May God bless you my friend!
Thanks Nickson!!
Andrew's guidelines for investment to the people and corporate world at the same time are outstanding!
On the one hand it helps us job seekers to save our time and energy while not wasting motivation and morality.
And on the other hand, employers will get what they really want.
Andy, you are the best!
With gracious and respect.
Thank you so much for those kind words!
Hi there. I used this template about a month and half ago. I landed the job. thank you
Fantastic!!!
You are soooooo welcome Michelle!!!
Thank you so much, Andrew! I'm attempting to write my first resume in 6 years and this video and you have both been a great help. Thanks again for all the hard work you do to try and help people. :)
tim obert you’re welcome Tim. I’m so glad the video will help you!
Im jobless for 3 months... But after i followed your template i got a job from a reputable Oil & Gas company in Dubai.. Thank you very much!!
Out. Stand. Ing. :)
This is exactly what I needed to hear as I'm exploring new opportunities this year. And everything was said in just the right words. I typically always dread working on my resume but once in awhile I get excited to get into it and this video totally did that :)
Thank you !!
You’re sooo welcome!!!
Tariq thank you so much for your beautiful remark. I'm grateful for you!
Andrew, where is the template to download? I cannot find it.
Thank you!

My brother @Andrew,
I am Fidel from Mozambique, Africa.

You’re so welcome!!
I think you're awesome!! I feel I'm steady going into a deep depression regarding employment. So many opinions about resume writing that contradict each other. I spend hours completing profiles, sending resumes, and 5 min after the conformation, it's followed by a declination e-mail. It's very depressing.
Stick with me Dexter to get undepressed!
Wow I’m impressed now
Chad the man, love to hear it bro. Good luck with it!!
If one is worried about "ageism," can one omit dates?
Thank you for your advice Andrew. I had already sensed some of the things you point out in the video, others are new to me.
Now, let me ask two questions:
1) What if you have worked for small organizations but would like to enter a large one?
Thank you! I'll do that (sending cvs is a learning process! ;-) )
where is the template to download?
Thank you, Mr. LaCivita for the excellent wisdom for the look behind the scenes. As a professional with multiple backgrounds, I appreciate your help with my job search and resume writing.
Sarah! You are so welcome. Thank you for watching the video and thanks too for the nice words. I truly hope I can help. Check out my blog for my great, FREE insight! (www.andrewlacivita.com)
Andy - any chance this template is available for download? I see I am three years late but am extremely interested in following through. Your videos are fantastic - thank you!
Carrie. That template is most certainly still available. Click the link in the description and fill it in and we send you an email.
Hello sir, I am from India and work in Oman... have gone through so many videos on cvs , interviews but U R THE BEST....
You’re welcome!! And thank YOU!
@@andylacivita sir, can I have your email I'd...would like to get in touch with you for cv writing and recruitment further.
EniGmA I am sending you good vibes for sure. Lots of luck!
Your tutorials are very professional , well organized, concise, you provide a great learning experience ~Thanks!
You're so welcome Bruce!
Hello, I just found your video series and it's mind-blowing! I would like to ask, where do I put I am fluent in other languages in this Resume or the level of computer skills (eg MSOffice)? So many resume templates include that.
It works, did what u said n got the job the same day
Yesssssss 🙌 love it! Congrats! 🎉🍾🎊🎈
Thank you! Sharing your channel with everyone I know
Liked and subscribed. Those are some solid tips that will help a lot, thank you for that!
A little question, if you have the time to answer:
If I'm career-pivoting, I should highlight my previous career achievements or my recent self-taught skills (projects and not very solid portfolio)?
Hey Carlos. If you’re changing careers, you’ll need to highlight the transferable capabilities or skills you’ve previously gained. I would suggest checking out my career changer playlist for more help!!
@@andylacivita Thank you for the feedback! I'll check that playlist for sure.
Thanks a million, Andy! Appreciate your videos much! I thank God for you!
You’re so welcome Ruth!!
Thank you for the CV template, most appreciated Andrew!
You’re so welcome Stacey!!
Andy! Just a quick one... Regarding ATS is it better to put Employer first line and Job Title second? Or Job Title first and employer second? What do you think about alternating Job Title or Employer first depending on what you want to highlight? Or do you need to pick one and be consistent?
Employer first. Job second. I would not alternate because the ATS will get confused and the humans will too.
Hi Andrew,
I'm student of professional Qualification ACCA with 9 papers completed out of 14.
How I represent this on my resume ?
Wonderful to hear Qi!!!
thank you for your video, it's very helpful
Nhem, your so welcome. Was there anything in particular that was helpful?
you are*
Good Video! It focusses on contributions and that is what is important for a resume. Especially say what your company does, not many people are telling job applicants that. This is what I tell my consultants. Spot on. I gave you a thumbs up!
Thank you!
Hi Andrew, I got few questions;
1) Should I send the resume as a word document or as a pdf.?
2) I'm an entry level job seeker, with only part time work experience which are not directly related to my field. Do you still think I should put employment info before education?
Please let me know. Thanks!
I'm assuming you mean with an employer. If that's the case, you provide them either version. Should be okay.
pdf
Earth+ I am also wondering if I should put my education before my work experience. I do not have a lot of work experience.
You can put your education at the top if you are a recent college graduate. If you've been working a little bit, put the education below the work experience. I'm guessing your resume will only be 1 page, so it should be okay.
Thank you Andy, I TOTALLY revised my resume today; it looks great!
Great to hear Judy!
Everyone has such conflicting advice... guess I'll follow my gut. Thanks
Digest it, and do what you feel is right.
Just curious. Is your gut hired yet?
@@Beelzebububble Hhahhaha holy shit, even I felt that

Nicely detailed video on how to craft the ultimate resume. I've already handed in mine though I did follow close to what you are describing here. You've said you've seen a massive amount of resumes, can we (if its not already available) look forward to a video of you showing or talking about some of the best or favorite resumes you've gone over?
Star, thanks for the kind words. I do have wonderful samples but those are reserved for people who enroll in my job search boot camp!
Thank you for your prompt reply and expert input.
Andrew, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for your wisdom and guidance.
Thanks to you, I have a much better idea of what I need to do in school in order to make the perfect resume for my dream job/career.
Love to hear this!!!
Hi Andrew. Thank you for the informative sessions. What's the maximum number of pages that should be on a resume.
2, unless it's a CV, then unlimited. :)
@@andylacivita Thank you for your reply :) Blessings
Great tips -- can i add a small column on right side to be used for skills , certifications, education..etc ?
Hi Andy, could you please advise what needs to be different if the resume is for internal position? Many thanks.
Do you have any advice for a homeschool educator, stay at home mom returning to work?
thundercatwonder I sure do. Just head to my blog at andrewlacivita.com and in the search bar type stay at home mom. :)
This video was actually helpful... I didn't just scan it I actually let it play fully.
Wonderful! Glad you liked it Jacquita!
While the template alone was great, the explanations in this video helped me raise it to the next level.
Great to hear!
I had a quick question Andrew. Is there a video showing the action words that should be used in the job description?
I want thank you for all of your advice. I is very helpful & will keep you posted. Your amazing!
You're welcome!
Andrew, Can I only put the University where I graduated with my B.A. or do I have to include the Jr. College I transferred from as well?
Di. That is entirely up to you. The most important thing is to get the university where you actually have the degree from.
Hi Andrew, the download button for the resume template is not working, is there anywhere else I can get it from? Thank you for your hard work!

Hi Andrew,
About tables, you told already that do not use tables.
Give it try. See if it works.
Good stuff, back in the market after a restructure and my resume needed polishing up. This presentation gave me a great launch point!

You are incredible! I was skeptical when I watching this first but once I downloaded the template and started working on this it makes an incredible amount of sense!! THANK YOU SO MUCH I am trying this out next week!!
Andrew, so glad you checked out the detail. Good luck with the new format!
wondering if you have a sample resume the template is great but a sample but give me a great idea as well. I watch another video where you show a sample career profile and that helped me write mine tremendously. thank you!
What about your skills and abilities? should that be placed under every job that built the skill?
They should be embedded. Yes.
Andrew LaCivita thank you
Hi Andrew, your videos are so helpful!
1. That certainly okay. 2. Yes for sure!!
Wow! Thanks for the quick reply, Andrew! You have been so helpful! :)
Hey! I downloaded the resume template🙏. I’m wondering why the example pages don’t have real examples and having twisted text.
My first and last name are long do I still use or the short abbreviation version of my first name with last name as email?
You certainly can and the employer will understand perfectly.
Wonderful advice.Thanks Andrew
Aniruddha Govekar thanks so much Aniruddha. You're welcome and glad you liked it!
Great tutorial. I would like to know if it's good to have skills section in between ones profile and professional highlight?
Adeniyi, that's a great questions. If you have a job where the hardcore skills are essential and a good piece to include, I suggest putting them at the bottom of the resume. This is nice if you have a bunch of certifications and so forth, but not required if you're listing skills that are general such as "project management," "leadership," etc. and other vague skills. Those skills, while important, can be embodied throughout the resume. That help?
I followed your link however what arrived in my email was not a resume template. how can I get my hands on that?
check your spam folder or email us at support@milewalk.com!
Thank you for this. What do you do if you've been running your own business for the past 8 years and don't have a list of past employers?
That’s okay. I don’t know what kind of business you run, but if you have some brand, customer names or well-known customer organizations or something of that sort, you can put a few of them in the description or in your bullets!
Thank you Andrew!
You're welcome!
Hi Andrew;
I am writing from Mozambique, Africa. Thank you for the great work you are doing. Keep up. May you please give an example of a career profile from education context?
Thanks for the much needed information ❤
You are so welcome!
You do very good work.
Thank you so much Beth!
Hello Andy, I won the Star Employee Award at my previous company but it was long time ago in 2013, should I list that in the career highlight section?
List that in the professional experience section!
@@andylacivita Thanks so much, will do that😊
Andy, when you are writing your Career Highlights section and listing your accomplishments should you mention the name of the company in the accomplishment so that the HR person knows who you did this great thing for?
Thank you for your quick response. It will make sure to organized my resume this way.
Hi Andy,
Do you have any tips on applying for out of state positions and what to do about your address?
great advice on resume-building.I am just confused on how to write career profile if one is inexperienced/fresh graduate?
Muhammad, check out my video on this one trick to make your college resume stand out. that will show you how.
Missed your webinar :(, had to travel to attend to help out my family. Are you planning to post a recording here by any chance?

Thanks Jennifer. Glad you liked it. Go to the description and check the section with the title FREE RESUME TEMPLATE DOWNLOADS WITH INSTRUCTIONS. Just take the professional format. It has the layout and some verbiage in it to recap my instructions. Enjoy!
Hi Sir, would like to ask you on the standard font size and type of font to be used for resumes? Thank you Sir.
Hi Agilan, there is no standard font size because actual sizes vary from font to font. One font's 10.5 might be the same actual size as another font's 12. I'd suggest no matter what font you're using, don't go below 10.
