      Andrew, thank you so much for this video. Would you be able to make a video on follow up etiquette after youve sent a thank you letter after second round interview? Is there a hack to be able to reaffirm your fit to the recruiter without coming off as a stalker?

    I had been praying a lot for a job, and one day I landed on your video, even though I'm Spanish speaker I translated everything you said and the template to Spanish and it worked amazingly. I sent this resume to a very important NGO and I was chosen today in less than a week. I had been applying for jobs there for a year and haven't had even an interview and now I have the job I have always wanted. I can't thank you and God enough because it is a miracle.

    John's definitely keyword stuffing and doesn't give any indication of who he is, or what he can do. It just says a bunch of words with bullet points.
    Jane, on the other hand, gets to the point - she says what she does, where she did it, and how successful she was at doing it. Love it. Super helpful Andrew, as always.

    Andy - I have come across your videos just over the past week or 2 - And I am hooked on your stuff! I have found your tips just in time as I'm going through a dark place of job hunting and feeling totally beat down as a single mom! You have helped me understand how I've been doing so many things wrong and wasting so much of my time by not focusing on the right things to help me be successful - Thank you for teaching me that! One of the professional "skills" I lack is summarizing/condensing information efficiently - This is such a key skill in any role that I need to work on and I admit it! Your videos have helped me to do just that. My Career Profile section went from 8 sentences (with lots of commas listing "character traits" among other irrelevant information) to now just 4-5 sentences - including 2 significant achievements. It looks so much better already. Now onto revamping the rest of my resume using your tips! Thank you so much for this video!

I followed your tips and the free resume format you supported and made a totally different cv, then applied to a vacancy that I’m really interested in and I got a notification few hours later that my resume was seen and downloaded by the recruiter😍. I was really amazed and felt my best after that. I hope I’ll get an interview soon. Thank you again!

    I love the fact that you are not extra you’ll get to the point is refreshing because of the tone of your voice the word you use I really really enjoy your input on how to get a better job with a different skills set you are offering and the different insight. My goal is to get a better job and a reason why I want to a better job is because I am 55 years old and I hadn’t worked in 10 years so I know that is my biggest obstacle is preparing to say something to get me over the 10 year that I had worked so I am hoping that you can give me that kind of insight to accomplish that I went back to college and received a administration assistant degree but I have no experience outside of school. That’s the kind of field. I want to work in.

    How do you do a resume that looks good when you have no job experience, just graduated last year from high school, and don't even know what skills you have? Writing a resume is rather difficult when you have to sit there and think very hard about what you can do especially when it probably won't help on a resume.

    I like the structure of Johns resume. It has a sense of order and structure which also tells you something about John. Janes resume is a little bit more like wordsoup ('woordenbrei' in Dutch), allthough it has much better content. Would love too see a bit more structure with Jane. Maybe easier to skim also? Anyway, great content Andrew and THANK YOU so much for sharing!

      You’re welcome. Remember, recruiters are trained to find what they need, not necessarily what you put in the resume. If you wrote your resume backwards, I could find what I need quickly. Lololol.

    Bonjour Andrew ,
    firstly , thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us 🙏🏼
    Allow me to ask you two questions ;
    * About experience ; what is more preferable ; a small paragraphe (general mission) or lines (tasks) ?
    * About picture ; in french resume we put cv , what about the english one ?
    i want to apologize for my english and thank you again

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  5 років тому

      On 1. Accomplishments are best. You can use a paragraph or bullet for those. On 2. In a number of European countries they like the picture on the resume. In the US, leave it off. Hope this helps!

    Hi Andrew! If you are a recent college graduate with less than 1 year of professional experience, is it still a good idea to write in the Career Profile how many years you have worked? I was thinking to say something like "2 years of experience in.." to include an internship and part-time job I had in college, and my current full-time position. How can you give an overview of your entire career in the Career Profile when your career has just started?

    Two quick questions:
    1) I am currently in grad school to change careers. Should I specify this on my resume in the top half of page one or is this an implied statement based on my resume content?
    2) I received an internal promotion at my last place of employment. Is there a preferred format to display this on my resume?
    Thank you again and Happy Holidays!

    I worked for 18 years at a company for public transportation in NY. I relocated and have been working on something completely different for 7 years. Now I found out a job opening in Transportation. Was wondering if in the resume I should list that job of 18 years first, instead of my present job? After all, that is what they are looking for. what is the advice?

    Very helpful and motivating info, thank you so much for this hiring psychology! It helps me much more to hear what you WANT to see over what you, as the employer, will not have the time or interest to read - this is a broken system. We are being told to spend hours creating something a certain way, when we KNOW that hardly anyone will ever read it, all the while being told to respect the Company's time - this is extremely pointless and arrogant, but let us continue to do the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result, (definition of INSANITY according to Einstein).
