    - About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.
As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.
The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

Magnesium is best absorbed through the skin. Hence get Epsom Salts, the old name for magnesium crystals, and have a nice bath. Get without additives.

No, wrong magnesium. Instead of Epsom salt which is Mg sulfate, use Magnesium Chloride for absorption through your skin. I get flakes on Amazon called Ancient Minerals. Half hot water with half flakes. Drop some essential oil if you wish. Let it cool. I use it daily at night on my neck and back. It helps so much with muscle spasms. Epsom salts are great for muscle soreness and relaxation in a bath. I use mg sulfate too! I hope this helps. ❤

Does this brand’s magnesium contain the ingredient magnesium stearate? (Which is not another source of magnesium, but rather an ingredient used to help protect the machines manufacturing the tablets from being jammed up during processing)?
Magnesium stearate is not something to dismiss as being natural or look up to as being beneficial. Some people can be very sensitive to it and suffer side affects from ingesting too much of it.
Most vitamins and supplements contain it, so if you consume a lot of them, you are also consuming lots of magnesium stearate.
Check out Dr. Janine Bowring’s short videos to learn more about this subject. It was really illuminating for me. I was having major issues with my health despite eating well and taking vitamins and other supplements. Once I eliminated these sources of magnesium stearate, I started feeling so much better! Thank goodness that I accidentally discovered her on UA-cam and got educated on this scary ingredient’s prevalence in today’s manufactured supplements.

I had a hysterectomy with ovaries also removed at age 37, that was back in 1994 after we had our 3rd son and he was only 8 months old. As soon as I left the hospital and we were on our way to pick up my prescription for hormone replacements therapy, I had the severe urge to get out of the car and run away. It was the most awful feeling and I guess the shock of losing the ovaries took over and really affected me. It hit as my husband was in the pharmacy and it was all I could do to stay in the car until he came back with my medication. I took a pill right then and before our 15 minute drive home, I was fine. I’m 64 now and after quitting HRT about 20 years ago, I started having weird symptoms so my dr. put me back on HRT.

I really appreciate Dr Haver’s advice, very knowledgable. I just wonder if there are brand alliances or financial benefits to any brand partnerships for products she recommends. I hope not and excuse my pessimism.

I’m a member of Life Extension and get my supplements directly from them, membership is $50 a year but you get a $50 credit towards supplements so it’s actually free and you get free shipping as well.

What time of the day is best? I’ve been taking my magnesium at night because tends to make me sleepy. It’s magnesium glycinate. Should I take this supplement also or switch?
