I love this Flywing Helicopter. Flywing controls are different. To test the control of the swash you need to be in 3D mode. It also has a hidden blade leveling non-GPS mode.Alishanmao shows how to program it.
Brian after watching you fly that helicopter I ordered me one it's a large helicopter I can hardly wait for it to get in where I can fly it thanks Brian you and camera crew
Brian, the 2 pieces you didn't know what they were or where they went. The small one is the base for the antenna on the tail. The antenna slips inside it. The elongated oval one is the moulding for the cutter. Same concept as the antenna.
Once again Brian, you have convinced me to buy one, which I just did, as I really like the other two I own, and I am sure this will be the same. Thanks again for your review.
Another awesome video thanks Brian…I’d like to see a scale pilot and co-pilot inside there especially because of that clear glass canopy but otherwise I love it, mine is coming next week!!
Hey Brain great video as always, just some information for you, the wash will not move in GPS mode when it’s on the ground, it will move once it’s in the air and the built in barometer reads it’s in the air. Now in 3D mode the swash plate will move on the ground and it will fly like any other fly bar less controller. Yes they have made major improvements to this version and learned from their mistakes.
I was looking for a larger scale GPS heli after flying Yu Xiang Jay Hawk. This might be it. Great review as always and great camera work from camera crew guys.
Oh yeah!! Dropping GI Joe into a Hot LZ (or, just the farm junk pile😊)!! That thing is screaming some Stones' Paint It Black while screaming over the jungle canopy/hay grass. "Little people Pilots" got me spitting out my steak N cheese, you guys! Awesome Drone/Heli review 👍
Great video! Looks like you’re going be the next Joe Nall of Iowa😂👍 i’ve been to Triple Tree a couple times, only live like an hour away. If I ever pass through Iowa, I would like to drop in and say hi. My grandparents lived in Winterset Iowa used to go there every summer. Just bought the mini bell 206 through your channel. Both of you have a unique niche in the RC video world, really enjoy the content.🤗
Excellent review, highlighting most of the fabulous positive attributes of this fine helicopter. And a tip of the cap to the videographer. Fine job! Let me emphasize to the naysayers, this helicopter is not just a "drone". The "3D Mode" allows the slightly more adventurous pilots, who want to practice more advanced maneuvers, to simply flip the switch to 3D mode and fly like any fine helicopter on the market-----but this one allows you to do that, STRESS FREE! It's called "altitude recovery". I'll explain, hopefully, with as much enthusiasm as our UA-cam hosts exhibit in all their fine videos.
This new feature, "altitude recovery", is found in the latest version of the Fly Wing software (version 2.0, downloadable from the Fly Wing website): You preset a desired altitude in the software where the helicopter AUTOMATICALLY switches back to GPS mode from 3D mode when you drop below a selected, preset altitude! In practice, it goes like this: pilot is trying some new maneuver in 3D mode (above 20' is a reasonable, preset, "safe" altitude barrier) and make the inevitable screw up, lose orientation, brain goes to mush and the beautiful Huey is about to poke a huge, smoking hole in the desert.......but wait: As soon as the out-of-control helicopter drops below the preset 20', it AUTOMATICALLY switches back to GPS mode and stabilizes, hands off, saving the aircraft. Extraordinary! Amazing! (This new software update can be applied to any of the FW450's--even earlier versions--not just the Huey or v.3 stock pod & boom.) We've been waiting for this "safe altitude recovery barrier" for years and Fly Wing has done it successfully! What a spectacular achievement! (It should be noted that when you switch from GPS to 3D mode, in hover or flight, there is a slight drop in altitude. Always apply up-pressure on the collective as you flip the switch.) PLEASE emphasize this incredible new "altitude recovery" feature in all of your FW450 reviews. It's truly revolutionary! Thanks, Steve Tillson Phoenix
WOW - THAT IS AMAZING - I NEED TO DO THAT ASAP!!!!!!! Stress free is definitely what I want, and I didn't realize that was a thing, but even without it (as I showed it - LOL / Cry) it is still AMAZING!
@BrianPhillipsRC I've discovered where that spare 3d part goes.... its the base plate for the 3d part that you stuck on the tail. You are supposed to fit the little block to the tail then the spike thingy sticks to that..... hope that makes sense, Thanks for info as I'll know where to stick mine once it arrives 👍 😉 😂. 1:29:40 this part here is a base/mount for the tail spike.
Hey Brian, check the blade tracking and make sure the blades aren't too tight in the blade grips. Also make sure the blades are tightened equally in each blade grip . Very cool Huey!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Just weird how much vibration your getting. I was throwing a couple suggestions, but since you already did them must be some other issue .
Edit the TX gps from 1500 to 1400. It will be in ATT mode which allows altitude hold but no gps, so it'll float with the wind but give you more freedom/speed.
@@Stankdog69 I already have the bell 206, would I be able to do it with this one also? Not impressed at how jerky it stops every time I let off the stick. So this can be done right on the touch screen? Thanks for getting back to me so quick ... Much appreciated!
For those who plan to order: Get the 3000mah batteries. I ordered the 5000 and they are serious overkill and a PITA to get in & out. Also...... order extra Metal & Rotor gears... 1st time helo lesson 🤫 LOL.
Vibration may be due to imbalance blades. Have you tested that the blades are balanced AND also COG (Centre of Gravity) identical on both blades? All heli blades need to be balanced straight out of the box, unless they are coaxial 'toy' helis. And this is also a reason why you should not be chopping grass with them. The lack of balancing tape on the blades indicate that they have not been balanced. I would never start up a heli without balanced blades. The vibration can cause so much problems to internal components, not to mention that flying characteristics will be compromised, usually turning out sloppy. If vibration is not due to blades, then check that your main mast is straight, because even if it is a little bit bent, the resulting vibration is incredible. Cause of bent mast : manufacturing defect or if your blades had accidentally clipped something hard. Yah! You're absolutely correct about this type of helis being great for failing eyesight. I have crashed a number of times due to worsening astigmatism. (Imagine seeing 1.5 heli suddenly in the middle of a barrel roll. Try righting THAT up again!) Or if you suddenly fly it into the sun ... lol ... "where ... what's it doin'?" Times like those I really wished I had a switch to flick back to GPS mode ... instead of listening to the motor screaming up before hearing that sickening SPLAT, not knowing if it was coming straight for me!
Hallo können Sie mir bitte sagen welches Alternative Ladegerät ich am besten für die Akkus von den Flywing Modellen nutzen kann? Können sie mir da was empfehlen? Danke
I am buying one of these for sure. I looked at the measurements of the RC helicopter and compared them with the measurements of the real Huey UH-1C, and I figure it's about 1:23 or 1:24 scale. Here's the question: if I was to add gun/rocket pods from an old Monogram 1:24 scale helicopter model, would it cause problems for flying it? It would add a little bit of extra weight but not much.
No, should be just fine. More stuff makes more turbulence, but this flight controller can handle it for sure! I'd love to add these rocket pods and a little machine gunner out the side - that would be so cool!!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the content! We're trying to include them more, as they're already dragged into the lifestyle, for better or worse, so they might as well be a bigger part of the family business ;) LOL
I love it but them windows on that canopy make it look like it rides a special bus ,the 206 looks way better and more scale ,great work brian i might have to bite the bullet on this one n finally get airborne❤
I was considering that too, or at least reaming out the 3D print, or something like that...that stuff DOES stretch, but it doesn't allow for freedom of movement we'd usually enjoy on other helis.
If you're to choose between the Bell 206 and Huey UH1 (flying wise), which would you pick? Also, does the BNF version also come with all those settings when programmed? Thanks
You will not see swash plate movement in GPS mode! Leave transmitter in stop position and switch to 3D mode, then you get swash plate movement! Also, your camera crew has the proper start up procedure down pat!
Introduction, I don't know if it was a defect of the previous models, but on UA-cam there are many videos of crashes of this helicopter, do you know if it was a defect and if so, has it been resolved on this new version? Thanks for the reply.
YES, there were, and YEAH it was bad....but they have addressed these issues, and even with our Bell 206, I swear the MFG had opened it, and made some sort of remedial changes...I couldn't see what they were, but that too has been flawless to date. So, short answer, they must have fixed what was wrong. VERY GLAD THEY DID!!!!!!!! Awesome heli!
ALL helis (model) eventually crash, cause we simply can't maintain them 100% ALL the time, eg parts wear out over time and we don't know their timeline. The only way I managed not to crash my helis is to have them sit looking immaculate on the shelf ... and pray we don't get earthquakes.
Hello, can you help me with your advice please? I am undecided about which helicopter to buy from Fly wing, between this Huey V4 and the Bell 206 V3, which one do you think is better? in scale, realism, operation, etc? I appreciate if you answer me and help me decide from your experience trying both. thank you
Hi Brian great vids my friend you and your camera crew(lovely Wife ) work great together. Now for the question I have a spectrum dx 8 and I would like to use that with my uh1 Huey version 4 what do I need to do to make that happen. S bus receiver ? What would you recommend and the procedure on setting that up. Thank you
G'day from Australia Brian. Another fantastic video mate! Just wondering what flight times you get on the batteries for this Iconic Huey Helicopter? Cheers Mate!
It's hard to say, since we had one that lasted longer than the other...about 10-15 minutes is my no BS, and trying not to short change you...I didn't pay attention, but it was a LONG time. I was super nervous on the second flight, since I didn't want to land in the water or have the heli fail to make it back to HOME...so I was okay with "leaving some in the tank"...also, you can adjust the Low Voltage Return to Home feature if you use their application and the provided USB A to USB C cable to program the flight controller.
Hey Brian(and flight crew), any intention of expanding into the blade fusion 700, by any chance? I see you're getting more and more into the heli's, and after your build(kit) a while ago, even for a sport flyer, it might be an interesting(and enlightening) experience and video. I just mentioned "might" due to size and cost(both, for some of course)..
The M.A.S.H. helicopter is supposed to be a Sioux H-13 (actually a converted bell 47D1) 😉 Korea not Vietnam... I don't think there was ever a huey . Maybe in the movie,, never watched it, but have seen every episode about a million times
DANG IT - you're totally right!!!! Man, it sucks getting old - I can't remember what I ate for lunch, let alone a show that only came on to tell me it was time to go to bed, as a kid. ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Lmao 🤣 Actually,, EXACTLY! that's the reason I have all of them.. it brings some nostalgic peace of mind.. stability... And now I watch it to relax before bed time 😂🤣 And I know the heli cause I'm working on re-creating it .. just finding and making the right doodads
It sounds like a Huey, only much smaller??? OK, OK.... I will permit this to slide by as a joke... but only this time!!! If you have never been near a really Huey before.. it is AWESOME.... FOOOOMPA FOOOOMPA FOOOOOMPA- those blades are big!
I'm sorry, we didn't check, but I flew it a couple more times off camera, and first flight seemed a bit shorter than both. I also plugged in a VOLTAGE ALARM JUST to be safe, since the heli seemed to fly and fly and fly...and I got more and more and more nervous, but it just didn't give in. Then I'd land to check, and she's fail to re-arm, thus telling me the battery was low. I also found out that when you put down, you HAVE to re-arm every time...not a big deal, but I may have been somewhat ambiguous about that on the video.
They can be, but this is BIG...so even though it's NOT cheap, it's in line for this size class. Also, it's RTF. If it were PNP at this size class, it would be a lot less, but since it's a Heli-Drone, it's not going to be PNP ;) Hope this makes sense.
Gruss Heinz
@Brian, the heli pilot in you is really showing up. Scale is so fun. But around the corner I see you smacking Tareq style. You will not care about scale. It will be horsepower meets skills glory...
13:55 These were never in M*A*S*H*..... ;) Pretty cool heli though! Rocket pods or the .30 Cal Machine guns would be a really cool touch, to add to that cool scale look. 15:00 LOL! 37:20-ish.. My Blade Fusion 360 has a very unpleasant vibration as well. Makes it kinda not fun to fly actually. I haven't gotten around to seeing what's causing it. 38:16... Waahhhh wwaaahhhhhhhh...Brian Phillps goin' a little blue on us! lol 44:39.. There's no telemetry on the screen indicating battery juice remaining? That's kinda lame..It is a seriously sweet flight time though, holy moley! I guess my only gripe from what I can see is the weird 'windows' on the front doors. They look like they didn't mask enough off when they painted it. Windows look really small. Our, Let's say, "Lilliputian" pilot would be strugglin' to see out that window! ;) (cures the P.C. Issue from earlier. lol) Very very cool, and as usual, awesome video guys! Kudos CC! 46:10 or so Yeah, now that you mention it, that tail rotor is a drawback to the scale appearance.
I just had another viewer set me straight...and now I'm embarrassed that I totally missed the mark!!! Dang it! Just had to re-watch the intro...and 10000000% wrong, I was ;( - Oh well, love this heli!
yeah, it's not cheap...but it's BIG...like 2X the size of the Yu Xaing we just did the other day, and I think it's about $500 or so... Bigger Heli's are pricey, but they are AMAZING!
Apparently nobody can say anything about the extra 3D printed parts...where do they go? FlyWing...you can do better. We need the parts in color and instructions for assembly
First off it’s not a scale helicopter. It’s a drone helicopter so you cannot move the cyclic while the GPS is controlling the input that is the difference between an actual scale helicopter and a drone helicopter for you to be able to move your swash around. You wanna put it in 3-D that is the closest you are going to get with this helicopter unless you decide to actually purchase a real one
Gonna tell aunt Mary about uncle John, he claimed he has the misery but he's havin all the fun o baby....yea, yea baby......oooo baby, havin me some fun tonight, o yea....! What movies that from, the song was played in a helicopter like this as they were flown to the jungle!
I'm not saying it's cheap, but these heli's are pricey, as all heli's are pricey... It's BIG...not M7 Big, but it's twice the size of the Apache we did the other day, and only a couple hundred more...that being said, everyone has a budget, and I get that, but this heli is not "over-priced"...look around at competitive offerings. Please do share the cheaper option so we can review that, if it exists. Thanks! (Email me, if you have one in mind, otherwise your reply will get blocked due to links...sorry about that)

Good.
We'd love too, but HH isn't sending one :(...
Maybe we'll do the M7 instead???
@@BrianPhillipsRC dude! Even better honestly!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Goosky RS7 Brian!
The exact price is on the link. And it was easy to order.
Hi Brian can I ask could a complete beginner start with this ?
Hi bri, what's the difference between bell 206 and Huey by flywing?
The body ;) Everything else is basically the same. I LOVE them both!
...well, the rotor designs are a bit different to mimic their full scale counterparts.
$56
Nice copter👍🏽
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
Gibt es eine Seite für die 3D Druckteile die extra am Heli sind?
The M.A.S.H. helicopter is supposed to be a Sioux H-13 (actually a converted bell 47D1) 😉 Korea not Vietnam... I don't think there was ever a huey .
Maybe in the movie,, never watched it, but have seen every episode about a million times
DANG IT - you're totally right!!!! Man, it sucks getting old - I can't remember what I ate for lunch, let alone a show that only came on to tell me it was time to go to bed, as a kid. ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC
Lmao 🤣
Actually,, EXACTLY!
that's the reason I have all of them.. it brings some nostalgic peace of mind.. stability... And now I watch it to relax before bed time 😂🤣
And I know the heli cause I'm working on re-creating it .. just finding and making the right doodads
Awesome! I'd love to see when you're done. Hit me up on how to see it!
Always impressed with your videos and this is a beautiful helicopter. However, I did cringe as you used CA glue over your beautiful countertop 😂
NICE 😊
DID YOU PAINT THE LEGS BLACK ?
It sounds like a Huey, only much smaller??? OK, OK.... I will permit this to slide by as a joke... but only this time!!! If you have never been near a really Huey before.. it is AWESOME.... FOOOOMPA FOOOOMPA FOOOOOMPA- those blades are big!
Yeah, one landed quite literally across the street. It is very LOUD and like you said - it woke up EVERYONE for blocks!
Can you install a camera onto that?
What’s the difference between V3 & V4
It doesn't self destruct. - LOL / CRY (...to be clear, the V4 doesn't self destruct, while the V3 had some issues)
from the uk - is there any links to purchase safely in uk - as uneasy to trust oversea online buy - thanks
so where was the batterie at 2nd flight !? was wandering if it malfunctioned or !!
Hi Brian, If you could only buy 1 which helicopter would you prefer. Huey or Bell 206 by Flywing.
A micromold lark the first English helicopter 1975
What is the approximate scale of this? I have a 1:18 Navy PBR and I need this to go with it.
Hey Brian, these choppers a getting a little pricey
They can be, but this is BIG...so even though it's NOT cheap, it's in line for this size class. Also, it's RTF. If it were PNP at this size class, it would be a lot less, but since it's a Heli-Drone, it's not going to be PNP ;) Hope this makes sense.
Why don't you give a ballpark price ?
Click his link and you will see 800 plus.
695 for the helicopter, 795 with the transmitter and 1 battery, 823 with the transmitter and 2 batteries.
Yikes…too high
@@wallyworld9096 definitely not cheap lol
Gruss Heinz
Looks cool model Brian,I’m curious how many planes do you own, collect cars myself I own 10😊
I’ve got 144 ic engines , 8 helicopters ,5 cars 28 aircraft all rc and you should see the size of my enormous Xxzxz
@@tonywright8294 ha,that’s some collection that,rc eh it’s like a drug u can’t own just one🤣
can you tell me how long it takes to show up after you order it ?
2 years approximately
It does kinda sorta look like a Huey
LOL - yeah ;)
@Brian, the heli pilot in you is really showing up. Scale is so fun. But around the corner I see you smacking Tareq style. You will not care about scale. It will be horsepower meets skills glory...
He doesnt have the time to commit to smack 3d lol
@@happymcslappy3640 Brian's into RC for the long haul. There's time.
@@gravityfuzz as a part time supplemental income. Smack 3d requires dedication to gain skill.
@@happymcslappy3640 yep. And Brian's got it. If you can't tell I'm trying to encourage him...
38:16... Waahhhh wwaaahhhhhhhh...Brian Phillps goin' a little blue on us! lol
Issue from earlier. lol)
Very very cool, and as usual, awesome video guys!
Where can this heli be purchased???
bprc.me/FlyWing_HueyV4
MASH was in the '50s. They never had UH-1 helicopters.
Have you got an apache gunship?
yes, it's published ;) We're gonna probably do the "heli-drone" soon, but we already did the non-drone version.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks will check that out
No it’s just the way I stand !
Looks good but seems quite expensive at 700€ BNF.. is it worth it?
Wow. I want this but it's $800 USD for the base model
yeah, it's not cheap...but it's BIG...like 2X the size of the Yu Xaing we just did the other day, and I think it's about $500 or so... Bigger Heli's are pricey, but they are AMAZING!
Brian, are you an airplane pilot or real planes?
Here’s a thought, how about a sale price of $49.99 (instead of $740) so everyone has a chance to own a top notch RC heli…
Moron
Apparently nobody can say anything about the extra 3D printed parts...where do they go? FlyWing...you can do better. We need the parts in color and instructions for assembly
yeah, that was goofy! Why not send an addendum WITH the parts, if it was an afterthought.
Grate video! But you talk 80% to mouch 😂
Yes, my brother is amazing 3-D helicopter pilot me not so much this would be perfect for me
Exactly! Even HE can enjoy the 3D performance if he wants too...just has to flip a switch, and he's ready to rock and roll ;)
Anyone ever say you sound like Chris Farley?
Gonna tell aunt Mary about uncle John, he claimed he has the misery but he's havin all the fun o baby....yea, yea baby......oooo baby, havin me some fun tonight, o yea....!
What movies that from, the song was played in a helicopter like this as they were flown to the jungle!
892 euro with 2 battery's. Then 21% import tax here in Latvija.
That is much to much for a rc heli.
..... I used to have a really stable helicopter with flat bottom wood blades Flu just like a real helicopter
cool!
FlyWing...Make a Russian Hind Mi-24
That would be cool!!! I bet they'll eventually make one. These heli's are awesome!
To spendy for that little heli. It’s cool and all but it’s WAYYY overpriced
Thanks! (Email me, if you have one in mind, otherwise your reply will get blocked due to links...sorry about that)
very expensive - but I guess you are paying for the tech..
I love your channel but you should not have flown directly over head like that. Take care bruv.
Yup! That's definitely one way to loose your model flying license.
You never ever flight a heli over you head, you looking for the accident that will end you rc reviewing life.
Hot L.Z. ha
Takes no skill to fly this.
You're 100% correct....but with some skill, it's even easier.
When will you get it into your head
It's a Scale Helicopter
NOT A HELI DRONE
