    Your room actually looks (and probably functions) a lot more expensive than the total pricetag you say at the end, so you did a great job. Over time, the upgrades add up, and you decide what you do and dont want to skimp on. Your room is pretty modest, and a reasonable total cost given everything. My room probably comes to about half the cost of yours, but i have smaller room with no renovations, etc. But i can definately understand why you did the upgrades etc.

    I bought 2 of those exact couches from Bob's for my family room in 2023, love them. You should've showed the middle seat pull down tray with outlet. One big addition you'd love would be tactile transducers and a digital movie poster board. I have 4 Buttkicker LFE's under 4 theatre seats on a platform since 2011. You have a very neat and well configured set up. I have a 150" 16x9 retractable screen and a Panasonic AE 8000 3D projector. It has a zoom feature I use when watching cinemascope presentations to fill the screen. I recently upgraded my receiver and blu ray player for Dolby Atmos, but prefer Auro 3d ( I upmix everything ) using a Denon 3800, 7.2.4 layout, 7 channels using external amps. I have a wife and 2 grown kids, but mostly I have been the only customer LOL. I enjoyed your video.

      I wouldn't say the focal in-walls were three times better than the Polk ones I had, but they definitely are better... But unfortunately when I put them in my wall I had a pretty big spike around 80Hz that I had to EQ out in order to get them to sound good enough to be worth keeping.
      And as far as doing everything myself, I wish I would have mentioned that in the video because I talked to Don who's done a lot of podcasts with Shane Lee and audioholics, and he said he would charge at least $50,000 to do my room.

      @@TerminatorJuice The labor alone doubles the cost of any room. So that makes a TON of sense. In light of inflation , I would put that number much higher. Plus the deals you grabbed wouldn't happen with most dealers. A great theater is a "walk", not a "run", unless you just have money to burn.
      Personally, I only care for the higher end of Polk, the Focal's are detailed and accurate. At lower listening levels it may just double your Polks, but with amplification of 200 watts or more, you would see a greater disparity.
      Word to the wise... NEVER let someone hook up an amp to your speakers, it is one expensive journey after that! The benefit is too great to get out of your head. *(But if you did... the used Outlaw 7X200w is crazy cheap at $1k for 7 channels.)

For two, I didn't even notice a difference when I swapped out my Polk side surrounds for Focal speakers, so I would expect even less of a difference for the height channels. And thirdly, about 90% of movies that have an Atmos mix only use the height channels for ambient sounds like rain and wind, so Even if the Focals did sound better, it wouldn't make much of a difference IMO.
      Also, I think there is some major placebo effect going on for people who swear that having all the same brand speakers makes a huge difference... Something I'm going to make a video on at some point.

      @twistacatz 3 місяці тому

      @@TerminatorJuice I must respectfully disagree with you. When you mention $2000, I assume you’re referring to the Focal ICA6 at its MSRP. However, I’ve seen them sold for under that, so you might be able to get them for $1600 or less. Given the overall investment and countless hours spent on your theater, spending a bit more on these speakers seems entirely justified to me.
      It’s worth noting that side surrounds are among the least-used speakers, even less so than height channels. However, I wouldn’t base my investment decisions on how often a speaker is used. Whether the sound is ambient or direct, with 3D audio, I want every element to sound as good as possible.
      Is the upgrade worth it? That’s a personal decision, but I believe it’s a significant oversight not to prioritize this. Personally, I would never purchase all speakers from the same family for the bed layer and then skimp on the height speakers. Timbre matching all your speakers will always result in a more cohesive soundstage-that’s a fact. At this stage of your theater journey, I’d focus on making it the best it can be, starting with upgrading those height speakers.

      @@ballstadt Honestly, I had to bump up the level of my LCR speakers 1db more with the center stage XD, than I did with the silver ticket woven material... But either way, depending on a person's budget I would recommend both of the brands, because I think both are excellent.

    I have one like this and I use it to project to the ceiling when lying in bed. Great fun
