Now that's a country song...the kind they don't write anymore. Willie was among the greatest songwriters this country's ever known--and sadly underappreciated.
I met Willie P Bennett at a Fred Eaglesmith show in Lethbridge Alberta. The band showed up after a long drive and were tired, stressed and ready to snap at each other. Willie was no exception, but he got right to work setting up sound, getting things just perfect in a way that still baffles me and was a total professional. I loved hearing him play and am constantly amazed at the depths of his songwriting. I'm one of these people that only began to truly appreciate him as a solo artist after he'd passed away. He was a really rare combination of serious talent, fantastic musicianship, solid work ethic as well as being a genuinely warm and friendly person. I honestly hope he knew how loved he was (and continues to be).

To the guy who made me listen closely to lyrics...and love music all the more..you have been greatly loved and you will be greatly missed my friend.
Miss you Willie B. I really miss you.
Grande Willie P Bennett, peccato che è durato poco. Un vero peccato.
Love this song and Willie's voice in it. He was a very gifted song writer and musician. Always loved your music. R.I.P. cousin Willie.
Always hoped to see Willie and was devastated when I learned that he'd died.
Thanks Steve.
......that would be Willie P.
UNLESS U LISTEN, U WILL NOT HEAR. WP
