I hope people realize how difficult this song is vocally, and the chord progression for guitar is insane. It's one of those songs, when you hear it on the radio you think, "What a simple, pretty song," but when you sit down and try to learn the guitar part and sing the vocals and harmonies it's actually extremely difficult. Much like many Beach Boys songs. So well done you two, great rendition.
The song is way, unbelievably chordy..lots and lots of chord shapes must be flying' by at every measure. No wonder We Five had so many players up there.
A friend of mine was touring the CBC in Vancouver and when he went to the washroom Jim Cuddy was in there cleaning his cowboy boots. He is the real deal. Oh Susanna rocks!
A bit late to the party, well 17 years to be precise, but this is a great version of a classic song. One guitar and two great vocalists singing live (no studio enhancemament) and clearly enjoying themselves and having fun. I only previously knew the Crispian St Peters and We Five cover of the song, but personally I thought this smashed both of those.
Lovely! I´m from the other side of the world (Argentina). Many years ago a downloaded (making a mistake) Blue Rodeo`s song "runaway train", but I was looking for another "runaway train" song, but after listening that song and then alI the discography I became Blue Rodeo and jim`s fan. Next november I`ll will flight to Canada for my honeymoon and I hope I can find a show available!
OK....Jim Cuddy is one of the two frontmen from "Blue Rodeo" An awsome Canadian band. Suzi Ungerlighter (not sure if I spelled that right) Goes by the stage name "Oh Susanna " Wonderful singer / songwriter. Check out her album "Johnstown" it's a few years old now but still send shivers up my spine.
Wow. This is even better than the We Five. Such a great song and you made it even better. The timing, cycles, rhythm and intensity were so perfect. Then to top it off the joy and energy you sung and showed in the setting made it the best. Thank you.
I wanna see the posting of the version from the Juno's that featured The Skydiggers that was an allstar cast that rocked the tune. Now put that version out and see how many new people discover it.
Well, but it's not the way Sylvia wrote it, but the way that the We Five performed it, at least as far as the melody and arrangement goes. Check out the recently posted video of Sylvia & Ian from their reunion, where Sylvia finally sings the lead melody & Ian sings harmony (her original harmony line forms the basis for the We Five lead).
Guys, this was really good! Thank you! This is UA-cam at the best!
Their voices are so well matched
Very nice! Love this song.

I agree. They make it look easy but what there doing is actually very complex.
I like the Rush version better.....Far superior.....You know the drummer is a professor!
The chords are easy...so is the singing. You must not be in a band. We learned this in 5 minutes.
Awesome! Link? I’ll wait.

Good cover. One of my old school favorites
Great version of a great song!
Sylvia's original lyrics and the We Five's bounce.

Great song. I'd love to sing with either of them.

EXCELLENT voices! and cover. They need to get a band behind them.
They both have bands behind them.
@@gvbezoff Sometimes they do, but not for this performance. I've seen both Suzie and Jim perform solo without bands

Nice rendition
Yes very enjoyable
I don't know who either of you are, but you did a mighty good job with that song!
mudhens4ever Jim Cuddy is one of two singer/ songwriters from the band Blue Rodeo, and probably one of the best Canadian songwriters of all time
Lovely :)

Makes we realize how talented Ian and Sylvia were.

Wow This lady sounds so
Much like Beverly. Awesome

Nice!
Suzie Ungerleider is just so beautiful!!!!
yea... this is unreal, got any more of jim's videos? he's an absolute beauty
good version

All this needs is a thin sounding Fender bass, crisp drums, and a couple, chimey twelve-string electrics.
I'm glad you went with the We Five arrangement rather than Sylvia's. To me the song works better with a little energy behind it.
this is great, but does anyone have the clip/mp3 of the two of them performiong 5 days in may as a duet ?
good save after his guitar mistake too

wow that's awesome! where when was this?
i have to say, Jim is looking like he's 30 again there! ;-)
we 5
I don't understand why you sing the slightly changed melody that We Five did - the original is much better. But at least you had the original lyrics.
Or maybe just an autoharp.
Excellent!!
